Could the Chiefs lead the league in rushing yards this season?
The more I think about it, the more I think this is very possible. As I was looking back at last season's rushing stats for the Chiefs and for Thomas Jones, it got me very excited. I don't know if i forgot or what, but i did not remember that Jamaal almost rushed for a 6 yards a carry! Now do I expect to have him repeat that? Of course not. But i do know he has a great chance of rushing for over 5 yards a carry. What also shocked me was how few carries Jamaal had. He did not even have 200 carries, yet still rushed for well over 1000 yards.Jamaal is going to get a lot more carries and would not be shocked if ran for almost 1500 yards. The Chiefs finished 11th last year in rushing. 11th! We finished pretty high for having a terrible offense line, at best. And i think we could all agree our offensive line is better than last years line.It will take time for the line adjust to the way Charlie wants to scheme, but once they get over situated, this O-Line could be very solid.
My next reason to thinking the Chiefs could lead the league in rushing is the addition of TJ. Do i think he is going to have the 3rd most rushing yards at the end of the season? Not a chance. But i will go out on a limb and say I do think he will have more than 10 TD's.
Projections: JC - 260 att, 1400 yds, 9 tds, 5.3 yd/a
TJ - 175 att, 715 yds, 12 tds, 4.1yd/a
After saying all of this, it is all up to Charlie Weis. Charlie loves to throw the ball around the field. So it will also depend on how well Matt Cassell is throwing the ball. I'm just very excited to see how everything plays out.
