Let's Roll!!
One of the things that has kept me from getting my hope up too high is the fact that many of our key positions, on offense especially, are manned by temps. Thomas Jones is a two year stop gap, three if we're lucky. Brian Waters is another temp at the end of his illustrious career. But I'm over that now, you know why? Because every team in the NFL is in the same position. After all, that's why we have Thomas Jones, Casey Weigmann and Ryan Lilja (Cassel pronounces his name funny).
But let's think about this shall we?
The Miami Dolphins went from 1-15 to the division title and into the playoffs. They are a team to watch out for still. And they have done it with players like Ronnie Brown and Ted Ginn Jr. Let's face it, Ronnie Brown is no Jamaal Charles and Ted Ginn is no Chris Chambers IMO. Hence Ted Ginn was expendable.
There's no doubting that they have had a superior offensive line compared to ours, but that was then and this is now. We have added fresh pieces to the line and the offense. Sure we have rookies that will take time to develop, but what team doesn't? It's not like we are in a unique situation anymore. There is no way that adding Crennel and Weis can do anything but help. There's no way that showing up in shape can be anything but an improvement. Everywhere I look over our team, there is improvement.
What else do we have to hang our hats on this coming season? Well for starters, it's a well known fact that having a mentally prepared, mentally tough team, is half the battle. It all starts with a belief. Isn't this the first time in years and years that either Vrabel or Waters has bothered to show up for voluntary OTA's? A feat that even Belichek could not pull off with Vrabel. A feat that even Vermeil could not accomplish with Waters. Let's credit Haley for that. He must be one hell of a motivator.
Listen, this is a sport of hopes and dreams. That's what keeps it going. The hopes and dreams of all us fans who go into Monday after Monday with a dark cloud hanging over us after a run of Sunday losses. The same fans who curse and gnash our teeth on Sunday nights after losing to the likes of the Raiders. But also the same fans who watch the clock on the following Sundays, eagerly anticipating the kickoff of another Chiefs match-up.
We're supposed to hope. We're supposed to dream big. It's okay. There is nothing but improvement all over the place at Arrowhead. What else could we have asked for? I don't care about DBowe's idiotic remarks and I do not care what the analysts say. We are a team on the rise.
Let the naysayers be damned. We're Chiefs fans!! That's who we are. We're the proudest fan base in the country and we have something a lot of teams don't have....HOPE! We needed a better GM, one that has proven he can build, NOT a championship team, who wants that? But a GM that knows how to build a dynasty. Does it really matter if Belichek was the shot caller in NE? NO!! Why not?
Well, if you wanted to be the best chef, fighter, boxer, or any other goal you've set your mind to, what would you do? You would attend the finest schools and seek out the finest teachers who would pass on their knowledge to you. Even if Pioli was not the mastermind in NE, he had the finest schooling and finest teacher available, who passed on his knowledge to Pioli.
So are we going to win the division?? Hell yes we are. It starts on Monday night in our beautiful new stadium as we kick some Charger a**. It's not only okay to get excited. It's our responsibility. Our team needs us right now. They have been beat down and kicked around. They need excitement. They need someone to believe in them. They need us to show them that "NEVER SAY DIE" Kansas City Chiefs spirit.
So bring em' on, one and all. Bring on the Colts, the Chargers, and anyone else who wants a piece of this. I only have one thing to say to our enemies this year; You better bring your A game, cause this is the new Kansas City Chiefs.
All it took on 911 was one man, one hero to stand up and say "Let's roll"! Outnumbered and with no hope, one man led a charge that saved our nations capitol from it's first ever attack. Against all odds, the seemingly impossible happened. So never lose hope. Never think it's impossible for us to turn the tides and rise from the ashes to take back what's ours. We made the merger happen, we went to the first Superbowl. We did that! We are the original children of the current NFL. Without us, none of this exists!!
I'm pumped and excited and I'm going to be there for every game yelling and cheering my head off. I can't wait for 2010 to start....If your with me then all I need to say to you is "LET'S ROLL" baby!!

Nice writeup Kray and rec'd.
I think alot of the discussion about us getting a Tackle with our 5th pick this year was because the Dolphins drafted Jake Long 1st overall and they improved. Hopefully we can pull off a season better than the Dolphins and go deep into the playoffs!
Bring on the Colts and Chargers, we shouldn’t be scared or worried about anyone anymore! Lets Roll!!!
Are we the team to beat in 2010? I sure think so! Go Chiefs.
nice post Kray aaaaand rec'd
I love these positive thinking posts. Love the title too. (9-11-01 never forget)
You are right on when you say every team has noobs and ancient ones. That’s the deal.

did you get a chance to check out the Drury Inn? Good luck on the surgery man hope all goes well
I did. But my aunt wants me to stay with her. So I'm going to be there with my family!
I haven’t been able to find them since I was 5 yrs old. Amazing story of hope right there. We never stopped looking or trying despite the odds. And after all this time we are going to see each other for the first time in 36 years man!! I can’t wait!
heck yeah dude
My mom actually just found a brother she has never met last year in NY on Myspace. Crazy stuff. Congrats man! She going to the game with you?
NO my uncle has that Pulminary disease. I can't think of it right now.
PLD or something. Chronic bronchitis. PAD?? He is on the verge of dying and I hope he lives long enough for me to see him.
Congrats to your mom...that's awesome brother! I'm happy for her.
I know how she feels right now. It’s a great feeling!
I follow directions!

I'm rolling into Indy for that game
and going to be pumped up that KC is in town! Hopefully the Indy fans will take notice of what real fans look like!
Are we the team to beat in 2010? I sure think so! Go Chiefs.
Yo Kray!!!!
Bout time I saw another feel good post from you man! Good stuff. Sorry I never got back to you on playing some Civilization, but work has been a beast.
Good points about keeping hope alive for this and future seasons. I’m excited about where our team is headed!
Go Chiefs!
Gotta believe. (Just for Vrabel’s sake, I understand he did actually attend OTAs in NE.) Good post!
Rec'd Kray. Let the Dynasty begin.
Scott Pioli's star will shine in 2010.
Win or lose, the Chiefs scare the bejesus of all opponents in 2010
Flagged
for rec whoring… again.
Next will be your patriotic Memorial Day post.
Then one about moms.
j/k crawdaddy. Have a great holiday weekend… with your mom… and the flag.
We are building a fighting force of extwaordinary magnitude.
Very inspiring
I try to temper my excitement, but you’re right, why should I? However, don’t use 9/11 as an example, it’s not right. Those people gave us hope, but lost their lives in the process. I’m from NY, and I gotta say that 9/11 shouldn’t be used as an example in any way on this site.

Well, I think the whole 911 thing affects everyone differently and I certainly appreciate Flowers' right to feel the way he does about it.
I don’t see it that way either. It doesn’t matter to me if your from NY or not. Those people that died on that plane I referenced weren’t NY’ers, they were Americans. And as such we ALL have a right to reflect, feel and reference it as it affects us personally.
I think Flowers was just expressing how it affects him. But I don’t think people in NY have some special ownership to that event. It was an attack on MY country too. I’m an American. I don’t care if it happened in S. Dakota. It’s all America.
I choose to use it as a source of inspiration for all kinds of situations in my life, including the Chiefs. It shows the human spirit. The human ability to overcome devastating odds and overcome. I am not the least bit sorry for using it. But I wanted to respect Flowers views. That is a very personal experience for everyone and that’s okay if he feels that way. I don’t have the right to tell him he can’t feel the way he does.
But I’m with you Paratrooper…..Come September…LET’S ROLL!!
Rec'd yet again kray...
Great post as usual. Agreed on the dynasty. I also believe they will be the team of this decade (2010-2020), with 4 trips to the big one, and 3 rings. Too many positive things happening. Many big things, and many, many little things. No stone unturned. What got me convinced was in year one, Haley was talking about mentoring newer coaches, so that as the upper ones get plucked for bigger things, experienced hands are still onboard. Another was a comment just recently by Haley that stated something to the effect that for any team to be and stay successful, you have to be able to develop talent in-house. Things like that show they know how dynasties are created!
Personally, I really hope we continue to fly under the radar…until Tue, Sept 14, the morning after we kick some SD butt. Would be a distinct pleasure to do to Rivers what we did to one of his predecessors, a Mr. Leaf. After starting 2-0 that year, we kicked his a$$ so well it shattered his confidence and he ended up self-destructing…but I digress.
Its nice to read upbeat things about the Chiefs! Keep up the great work!

Loved your fanpost.
We can win the west this year. Glad to see True Chiefs fans still believe! I posted a couple myself. I broke down the complete “O”. Funny some of you guys were upset at me for taking up post space. It was a complete break down of what the team did last year and with the additions of talent, where we’re going this year. I thought people would appreciate that. I dont want or need fame. I’m an excited fan. To me thats saying “I LOVE MY CHIEFS!!”
Nice...
Love posts like this that get the red and gold blood coursing through my veins.
At the same time, I hate you for it with so much time left before our Monday Night Football thrashing of the Dolts
.
This will be the look on Rivers’ face as he peers at the scoreboard at the end of the game…

Things to get the Chiefs back on the winning side of football:
1. Haley resign as offensive coordinator or do the following;
a. Feed JC more
b. Take the cuffs off of Cassel and let him air it out
2. Fire Clancy "Calls" Playslikeass
Phillis Rivers: "Holy shit, the Chiefs hit us so hard our jerseys switched back!"
"Crunch" Berry
"Duster" McCluster
Whoa!
We just go McClusterFucked by Dexter the AFC West Serial Killa’…Damn I wish I could talk shit to Jay Cutler again!!!
Jesus Kray
You actually gave me goosebumps reading this, with the whole 911 part. I’m sorry for whoever this offends but…
FUCKING REC’D my man!
kray, kray, kray ... my dear misguided but heart-in-the-right-place friend
first off, rec’d for your enthusiasm and your hope, your sense of fandom do-or-die … secondly, though I voted “you scare me” we both know that’s not true (you only scare the staff psychologist … you ARE taking your meds, yes? good boy!)
ah yes, hope floats … spring springeth with hope eternal etc etc etc ad nauseum ..,. but kray, don’t you feel even a LITTLE bit guilty getting all these recs that Steve-Chiefs should have? poor guy so desperately wants to be front-paged and here you are writing yet another “hope and we are FANS damnit” post and BANG! off you go with a ton off “you tell ’em, kray” and “go get ’em, kray”
misguided? yes, my friend … on that fateful 9/11 day that you allude to the “Let’s Roll” in the sky did not, sadly, prevent a different “attack” on The Pentagon (and why THAT place was not shot down by planes that were never scrambled is a mystery to me … and so it goes)
love ya, brother kray!

I think the ship is heading in the correct direction, but not there yet.

Such enthusiasm should be rewarded.
That said, I’m going to reserve judgement on the 2010 Chiefs, until after the MNF game. That’s going to tell us all a lot.
