Breaking Down Our Schedule: Division Rivals
A couple of weeks ago I made my early predictions and I'm very hopeful just based on the schedule. So I decided to break down who we face and give everyone an in-depth look. First, I'll start with our division rivals. Each ranking is based on "per game" of last year.
San Diego Chargers - September 13th, 2010 and December 12th, 2010
Last year offense: 10th in passing yards/31st in rush yards/4th in points
Last year defense: 11th in passing yards allowed/20th in rush yards allowed/11th in points given up
-Noteable Offseason Additions-
-Noteable Offseason Releases-
Michael Bennett
Antonio Cromartie -Trade
-First 3 Draft Picks-
Ryan Mathews -RB
Donald Butler -LB
Darrell Stuckey -FS
-My Thoughts-
The Chargers are on their downfall in my opinion. They lost quite a bit of talent and didn't really make up for it in the draft or offseason additions. I think we will beat them in our opener because they are slow starters and won't know what to expect in our "new offense". We will however lose when we go to their house. They will win maybe 11 games this year but won't win that many in the next few years coming up.
Oakland Raiders -November 7th, 2010 and January 2nd, 2011
Last year offense: 29th in pass yards/21st in rush yards/31st in points
Last year defense: 7th in pass yards allowed/29th in rush yards allowed/23rd in points given up
-Noteable Offseason Additions-
-Noteable Offseason Releases-
Kirk Morrison -Trade
-First 3 Draft Picks-
Rolando McClain -LB
Lamaar Houston -DT
Jared Valdheer -OT
-My Thoughts-
The Raiders had a very good draft this time around. They added some good points on offense and defense. They got a QB that is actually decent in Campbell. I think they cut too many players that were key parts to their team but since they got a good draft I give them 7 games won this year and I'm being nice. I think we sweep the Raiders this year.
Denver Broncos -November 14th, 2010 and December 5th, 2010
Last year offense: 13th in pass yards/18th in rush yards/20th in points
Last year defense: 3rd in pass yards allowed/26th in rush yards allowed/12th in points given up
-Noteable Offseason Additions-
Jamal Williams
-Noteable Offseason Releases-
Casey Wiegmann
Brandon Marshall -Trade
Tony Scheffler -Trade
-First 3 Draft Picks-
Demaryius Thomas -WR
Tim Tebow -QB
Zane Beadles -OT
-My Thoughts-
I don't think the Broncos did enough this draft to make up for getting rid of their key players. They also got rid of their defensive coordinator which got their defense from the back to the front last year. They will win 5 to 8 games this year. We will split with them. We will lose the first meeting with them because they are at home coming off a bye week. They will have plenty of time to prepare for us.

We only lose to the chargers once
We’ll do that when we play them in their house. Raiders still have some problems at WR and RB and OT. Oakland look to have a good D now that they picked up McClain and Houston. Denver will probably finish around 6-8 wins. Their QBs aren’t that great and they lost their best WR. San Diego Still have Rivers and a great offence. They got rid of a lot of talent on their D though and that will show this season
Welcome to the chiefs community Eric Berry. Don't screw it up.
Pioli's one mistake, not taking Terrence Cody
Don't forget that they may not have VJax that first game. (at least I hope)
He just pled guity to a “driving infraction.”

Nice post
I think you may have over estimated the Chargers though. I can see this being another year where the AFC West is there for the taking at the end of the year.
The Raiders in my opinion are the wild card (not in the playoffs – in general). The have made some decent moves on both sides of the ball. I expect their defense to be impressive.
Have we discussed that it looks like they are getting set-up to run the 3-4? If they do that, the conversion of the entire AFC West will then be complete.
3GChief = 3rd Generation Season Ticket Holder
They should
I think McClain would be a better ILB than a MLB.
Ryan Succop will be the kicker for the AFC in the 2011 Pro Bowl
Raiders wild card?
The only reason they weren’t in the playoff’s last season was the human blimp throwing games for tater tots. IF Al leaves Cable alone, Oakland dominates Denver and San Diego, splits with us going 5-1 in the division. Depending on their 2 new tackles, and young WR corps. Campbell and the 2 new tackles have Oakland riding on their backs, and if they can play average football, San Diego gets their first Legit competitor in the AFC west.
Hate to say that, especially about Oakland, but they have assembled a nice football team over the last few years, and with some stability at the coaching positions they made strides last year, and will continue to do so this year. 1st in the AFC west
Denver actually improved a lot in my eyes, with addition by subtraction, they got rid of some locker room cancers. Tebow and that trade……..yeah that left me scratching my head, but if anyone can get him to play in the NFL it’s McDaniels. They brought in some O-Line help, Clady, depending on his injury, that would be the biggest loss they had. Denver will probably go 7-9, but the future is looking brighter there, with the malcontents gone. 2012 is going to be big for them. I’d almost bet most of the drama is gone from Denver now. 4th in the AFC west
San Diego, yeah I have to agree they are a team in decline, I’m sure Oakland pushes them hard, and the rest of the AFC west is getting poised to rebel. They’re still loaded with talent, but they’re losing a step with a lot of aging vets. 2nd in the AFC west
KC I’m picking us to go 3rd in the AFC west at 7-9 to 9-7. Out of the AFC west only Denver has bigger QB questions. Cassel has the WR’s, TE’s and RB’s to be successful, the O-Line is improved. Depending on his play we have a competent offense to make a playoff push. Jackson and Dorsey should make more strides this season. Can Shaun Smith and Ron Edwards hold down the nose, and allow the LB’s to do their thing? Vrabel is a hell of a OLB, but he is another year older, can Studebaker push him for a starting role? Will our young secondary Gel, and be dominant?
Look how we’re being built, we’re being built to face teams like San Diego, Oakland, New England, Minnesota, New Orleans, and the Colts. I think we make a push this year, but more so against the high flying teams. I think teams built more like the Jets, smack you in the face teams will give us fits.

Disagree on Denver, I'm scared of Oakland too.
Oakland lacks offensive weapons though. If they can put together a strong rushing attack, have Campbell work off of play action, and play over their heads defensively, maybe they get to 9-7. I still don’t think the coaching staff can do it. I just don’t see it happening.
Now, on Denver. They are bleeding talent. I do not see addition by subtraction. They only reason they had any semblance of an offense last year was because Orton could chuck the ball to Marshall. This team is going to struggle to score. Think of us last year. Oh, and the defense will suck.
Tebow and that trade……..yeah that left me scratching my head, but if anyone can get him to play in the NFL it’s McDaniels.
You think McDanieals over anyone? Really? Off the top of my head I’d take our coaching staff, Cam Cameron, Mike Martz, Tony Sparano. I don’t understand how this fits at all. McDaniels is a system guy. He is trying to turn into NE-West. I can’t for the life of me see Tebow doing any kind of Brady impersonation. The coach I think could do the best job with Tebow is Chan Gailey. He could just run the Arrowspread substituting Tebow for Thigpen and see how it works. McDaniels is about the last coach I think can make Tebow successful and unless he can show some as yet unseen offensive originality/ingenuity then I don’t see Tebow looking any better on a football field than Jamarcus Russell. He can’t run the Patriot offense! Horrible, franchise killing pick. (although, I’m happy they did it!!!!)
San Diego, one last year on top.
on den
the first 2 games will be everything for them win those and there a canase denver couild say hey we can win and start like 4-2 5-3 lose those and it will be a long year for denver to win 9-10 games they must win the first 2

I hoper we beat SD in SD
I’m sick of being at that game and us getting killed…It’s the worst car ride home, the worst walk to the car, the worst pee at the Q. I’m sick of it. We need to go into San Diego, and kick the living hell out of the Chargers. I’m talking about a game where we dominate on offense and defense, a game where we win 50-0, and make the weekly highlight reel. Don’t let them ruin the one chance I get to see Kansas City in California.
