A different look for every team. The Chiefs gameplan on both sides of the ball. The Chiefs coaches will be busy every week sorting out the weaknesses of the upcoming opponents and placing the best players on the field for that specific play. A team of specialists is what the Chiefs are going to be. No need of a true every down player cause the Chiefs don't play the game that way. Our new offensive and defensive coordinators never have. Todd Haley learned it that way. Scott Pioli always searched for those specialists. This team is going to be extremely fun to watch as it grows in confidence week after week.
Ryan, the son of infamously feisty defensive guru Buddy Ryan and the Raiders' new defensive coordinator, probably knew more X's and O's as a teen than some assistant coaches ever absorb. But having helped the Patriots to two Super Bowl titles in the last three years as outside linebackers coach, Ryan's vision of a defensive scheme has undergone a transformation. He is now an affirmed practitioner of the 3-4 alignment fielded by Patriots coach Bill Belichick and coordinator Romeo Crennel--or an adaptation thereof.
“We’re going to be based in a 3-4, but we will not be limited to the 3-4,” Crennel explained. “We can do some other things, which we will. We will mix things up as we need to. Each game plan is different and you have to look at your opponent to see what their strong points are and then what you think you need to do to take away their strengths and then try to take advantage of them that way.”
“We are a game-plan offense and we will be a game-plan defense,” said Haley. “We will do things each week that we think our players do the best against the team we are facing. If you don’t think that way, then you are a system offense, fitting players into the system all the time. You are going to do what you do, and it’s not going to vary; you are less concerned with the opponent.
