Free Agents left?
One thing i really like about Pioli is he is always trying to add talent and fill needs every day of the year. So in saying that I still think we add a few more players (vets) as well as some guys that get cut (maybe 1st or 2nd year guys)
So since it is May and I have nothing else to do (other than work) does anyone have any insight or ideas of guys that might be traded or still unsigned or event cut?
I saw all the Adalius Thomas stuff and never really thought he fit after how it ended in NE. Here is a couple guys I came up with please add to it or speculate maybe guys we looked at or you liked in the draft that migth not make the 53 etc.
NT Shaun Rogers - Romeo connection and no clue what will happen but it makes sense via trade (late round pick) or cut.
NT Ron Brace - another NE connection and they just paid Wilfork and signed Warren
DT Darnell Dockett - ok bad joke. well average joke.
DE Osi Umenyiora - not sure if he signed with anyone but good pass rusher.
anyone have any other ideas or players? there are a lot of Weis guys and Romeo guys out there as well.

Osi is still with the Giants
I dont see us going for Rogers after his trouble with the law.
Brace is only in year 2. No way the Pats part with him yet.
Wasn't there a rumor going around that Cofield was on the blocks.
He was the starting NT, and at 306, listed, may be a little light for what Romeo may want.
I think cofield
was a DT in a 43, not a NT
I agree brace wont be going anywhere hes good depth behind wilfork and has only been in the lg one year
I would love to see rogers be traded here……but PFT said that holmgren wants to see him on the field
HEY........quit playing with your dingy

Brace
is the main prospect to take over for Wilfork, and their depth at NT…don’t think he’s going anywhere
Ryan Succop will be the kicker for the AFC in the 2011 Pro Bowl

Justin Fargas is still around
Don’t really see us bringing him in but TJ won’t last forever, plus Fargas is better in a ZBS.
no, he didn't get drafted
I heard he was in the Giants mini camp
this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most all major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6?
The back of my mind has been on Rodgers for NT aren’t we all thinking NT and the front of my mind on Henderson for RE but really… What about Osi? I’d rather we had him over any free agent Imagine rush the passer with Hali But then again Henderson would help Hali rush the passer and provide some run support
It's hard to think in these terms at this time of year, but...
… seems to me there were early runs at rush OLB and the best value for the Chiefs in that position group might actually be the waiver wire, late.
I almost hate bringing this up, but maybe this is a good thread to put on our thinking caps and think like a contrarian, looking to gain a slight edge by anticipating what game-ready role players/depth players might be showing up in which position groups, when the last, hardest cuts, are made. Pioli made full use of this last offseason when everybody else pursued OL so hard, using both waiver wire and future (late-round) draft picks to skim the last of the cream of useable talent.
Hopefully this is KC’s last year this high in the batting order in August and September, but I think it’s something to which Pioli pays attention. Picking through castoffs, KC added Chambers and Long, just by being patient. Remember how many of us were lusting after Lance Long last summer?
As for NT, this is a year quite a few NTs went a little higher than maybe they were worth, and a plug-in veteran might just fall in KC’s lap later on. For the very same reason they are so highly prized this year, so will there be some pretty good ones falling off the edge of the depth chart, here and there.
Think about it. With 2 of the 4 teams above the Chiefs taking 4-3 DTs in the draft, already, pretty much the only team ahead of the Chiefs likely to snatch a NT ahead of the Chiefs is Washington, but unless they part ways with Haynesworth, I’m not sure they’re shopping for NT at the same time a pretty good one comes along, that KC can throw into the churn. #5 is going to be a pretty good spot to get an extra set of looks late.
The Bucs took 2 DTs in the first two rounds this year. I really think KC has 1st pick off the waiver wire at the best NT to fall, same as they nabbed Chambers when HE fell. While I would’ve felt better if they’d done something more direct, I’m actually kind of glad KC didn’t tie up a 1st or 2nd or even a 3rd in one of ’10’s NT prospects, and pin too many hopes on a guy unlikely to contribute much in ’10 and not even a sure thing for ’11 and beyond.
I’ll throw Alan Branch into the fray, fully expecting, but unafraid, to be taken out at the knees on this line of thinking.
