to accept Matt Cassel as the leader of this franchise?
Everyone on here is completely familiar with the man who wears number 7 for our Kansas City Chiefs. Love him or hate him we know we are rolling into 2010 with him as our starting QB. Last week Mr. Yoon gave out his grades for the Chiefs offseason at Quarterback and throughout the comment section several people on here expressed their dislike in Cassel. While I understand that everyone is going to have different opinions on Cassel, and yes his first season wasnt that pretty I'm going to ask the question again to everyone here, what is it going to take for you to accept Matt Cassel as the leader of this franchise?
On February 28th, 2009 I remember flipping on the television and seeing that we had swung a trade for both Cassel and Vrabel. Instantly I became excited and all different kinds of scenarios jumped out at me. For once I felt a little better about how our offseason was progressing, and I was legitimately happy with the move. So happy I even purchased two Cassel jerseys whenever the became available online.
When Cassel got hurt in the preseason I was worried about whom was going to step up. I knew that we had put the ball in his hand and told him to run with it. Luckily for us Brodie Croyle came in and played a damn fine first game of the year, which IMO had led to several people on here calling for him to take Cassel's job.
Now there are several knocks against Cassel. Some say he holds onto the ball to long, he cant read the defense, cant throw the long ball. I noticed all of that last season as well as how he is passionate about playing. How Cassel will dive head first for the first down, and get up fired up.
If Cassel is here beyond this next season who knows. I know his contract is set up to where we can dump him after this next year. But do you really want to go back to the drawing board with a rookie QB? Do you really think we would have been better off drafting Clausen this year? I have accepted Cassel as the leader of this franchise because of this offseason. Getting on AP and reading about how he is already in Kansas City working out, he was one of the main reasons Chris Chambers re-signed, and Thomas Jones speaking highly of him from the get go shows me that Cassel is the leader of this franchise. What is it going to take for you to accept him as the leader of this franchise?
