Don't forget about Kolby Smith

I'd like to dedicate this post to one of my favorite players on the chiefs....

Kolby Smith...

The reason i like kolby smith is i remember he came in when we had preist holmes, michael bennett, and larry johnson all pro bowl running backs. I didnt think we needed him but i remember that year our running game was completly nothing. Not LJ, bennett, or even the great preist could get any production. When this guy got his chance to play i remember he dropped 100 yds+ on the raiders. I also remember an announcer said he talked to smith and asked him how he felt about being behind holmes, bennett, and LJ knowing you might not see the field and he asked if he was upset about that. kolby smith replied by saying.. "No, I see this as a great way to learn from 3 pro bowl runningbacks."

Thats deffinitly the right answer.

This guy is deffinitly in the right 53. He has been a haley guy. I also loved this post on twitter he wrote..

"KC, I love you! You've endured this hardship! Thank you before being patient. "

My father is a truck delievery driver.  he said one of his friends delivered something to kolby smith's house and he met smith. note that there were no camereas on him no media was around or anything and my dads friend said he was a real class guy. He said he was real politte and he couldn't stop saying nice things about kolby. I really love this guy i was kind of upset when i saw we drafted mccluster cuz i thought that meant kolby was out, but since mccluster is a slot reciever i really hope kolby smith stays on this team cuz hes a real great guy, and I really think/hope he should be our 3rd string RB. I look foward to this coming season hoping he'll be apart of our new great offense.

KC loves you!

He's good alright.

He’ll get the ball over Javarris Williams and Jackie Battle every game. I reckon he stays on as our 3rd string RB. For how long is the real question?

Welcome to the chiefs community Eric Berry. Don't screw it up.
Pioli's one mistake, not taking Terrence Cody

agreed

he does seem like a great guy… just not sure there’s a place for him on the 2010 team.

pretty loaded at RB

this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most all major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6?

by stagdsp on Apr 27, 2010 7:13 PM CDT up reply actions

I like him I guess

but he’s gone. He’s too injury prone and the team is too deep now.

New body. Same soul.

Loaded at RB

I think you forgot your sarcasm text

Eric Berry for Rookie of the Year

2010 Kansas Chiefs Record Range of 8-8 to 10-6. Yes it's possible, Chiefs just have to perform and execute

why would I need sarcasm font for that?

Bah.

It was sarcasm about you forgetting your sarcasm text. But since I had my comment in sarcasm, it was just a joke :P lol

But

That doesn’t discount that you have a really cool story there.

Thanks for sharing.

+1

Kolby has had terrible injury issues and I think he was kept on the roster “in hope of”, but with Charles and Jones and a bevy of younger talent I think Kolby is a goner.

Smith really isn't very good IMO

Seems like a cool guy though. I don’t think he’ll be in KC next year.

If you can't play ... you can't stay.

The man is a trooper, no doubt. Injuries can take you out of the NFL. Kolby, unfortunately will be yet another example.

Scott Pioli's star will shine in 2010.
Win or lose, the Chiefs scare the bejesus of all opponents in 2010

He is a very capable running back

Darn those doggone injuries!

Who?

You think it's coincidence that I bleed red?

I like Kolby for Depth...

A hell of a lot more then Jackie Battle or Javarris WIlliams

I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

old regime...

smith and battle are old regime… they will probably be gone… williams is new regime… he will back up JC and thomas…

7-9 this year... 9-7 if we get lucky!! GO CHIEFS!!

I don't think so

I think the best RBs will be on the field. End of story. It will be about the skills brought to the field. I see Kolby as the 3rd RB. I think he is a very good….not great, but very good RB that was screwed by the injury bug. I hope that he is fully recovered and can compete for the job.

I like Kolby.

If your not playing people tend to forget about you.

I have a feeling Javarris is going to have a better season this year than he rookie year. Has a different running style that would compliment Charles and Jones.

Opinions are like A--holes, everyones got one.

by aPacificChief on Apr 28, 2010 2:04 AM CDT reply actions

Iʻm one of the people who will say that Williams has massive potential and was a steal in the 7th

I honestly think he could develop into a Michael Turner like player

11101010011011101011. Yeah that just happened

by 808NaNz808 on Apr 28, 2010 3:01 AM CDT up reply actions

Lets hope... we could use a power (bruiser) type runner

We would just wear down defenses. Sounds like a Super Bowl plan.

Maybe

He didn’t impress me at all in his limited carries last season, but hopefully that was just rookie jitters & he’ll settle in this year. I’m not sold on TJ being a productive RB through the whole season.

Predictions:
This year will be better

by jmcgoblue on Apr 28, 2010 9:17 AM CDT up reply actions

forgotten

he is not part the the right 53. hes always been a guy who was supposed to be good but never showed it. got on the field and got injured. i doubt he has a future with kc and im not disapointed

by Hendrix on Apr 28, 2010 9:58 AM CDT reply actions

Unfortunately for him....

Injury has done a real bad thing to his career as of yet… There have been TONS of nice guys, who couldn’t cut it in the NFL. If all we needed were nice guys, we would be the bottom of the barrel(as if we are already not).

You know what they say…. Nice guys finish last…

So let’s get some nasty ones!

by 25JCPavedTheWay on Apr 28, 2010 4:19 PM CDT reply actions

no ones saying we should keep him based soley on his character

all im trying to say is im rooting for him to make the team and i was proving the point hes a haley guy hes still better than battle and williams IMO

by BEEf_CHIEF on Apr 29, 2010 11:56 AM CDT up reply actions

Well...

I unfortunately believe he is too much of a tweener, to be anything stable… He’s too small and obviously fragile to be a bruiser… Too slow to be a scatback… He definitely can’t be a FB… I don’t know enough about his hands to play HBack.. or TE…

by 25JCPavedTheWay on Apr 29, 2010 12:15 PM CDT up reply actions

well yeah thats your opinion and your entitled to it

i just think hes good enough to be our 3rd RB.. nothing more. he has had some pretty good runs before. and has had some good games. i think the only thing is his injury concerns.
