PrintLast weekend new Chiefs S Eric Berry told reporters the first thing he was going to buy now that he's been drafted was....
A 2010 Camaro.
Odd, I said at the time, since so many other players were showing up to the draft with thousands and thousands of dollars of jewelry. You wouldn't think the fifth overall pick would make his big purchase a Camaro.
Well, it's not just any Camaro, according to Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star (@Mellinger):
Got a PR e-mail about Chiefs S Eric Berry's 1200-horsepower Camaro. It sells for $149k, so not exactly the kind that made it Camarohead
Glad to see Mr. Mellinger knows about Camarohead.
(If you can't figure it out...Arrowhead + Camaro = Camarohead)
The good thing for Mr. Berry? He'll be signing a contract somewhere in the neighborhood of $25 million guaranteed which means he can buy 167 of these things if he'd like.

this should be the most exciting Chiefs team in years! Most all major needs filled with playmakers, and the league's best coaching staff... 10-6?

Man that scares me. Thats alot of power for someone who has never had that much money to play with. I dont understand why they got so many horses in it when it’s illegal to speed. I know Americans have no idea who that is, but he is one of the best players in the NHL. After he signed his big contract in 2003, this happened:
On September 29, 2003, Heatley was seriously injured after he lost control of the Ferrari 360 Modena he was driving. The car struck a wall, splitting the car in half and ejecting him and his passenger, teammate Dan Snyder. Heatley suffered a broken jaw, a minor concussion, a bruised lung, bruised kidney, and tore three ligaments in his right knee; Snyder was critically injured with a skull fracture and died six days later on October 5 of sepsis. Heatley was charged with vehicular homicide; he pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane, and speeding. He admitted to drinking some prior to the incident, but his blood-alcohol content was below the legal limit. He was sentenced to three years probation, and the judge, Rowland W. Barnes, required the court to approve Heatley’s vehicle, which could not have more than six cylinders and would not surpass 70 mph (112 km/h).6 Heatley avoided having to go to trial as part of a plea deal that dropped the first-degree charge of vehicular homicide

Did you ever hear the story about the Colts asking the same thing to Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf? Manning said he was going to buy a house, take care of his family and invest the rest. Ryan Leaf said he was going to take his buddies to Vegas. That pushed the Colts into the right direction. I’m not saying Berry = Leaf, but its just interesting that he would say that with a camera in his face.

1200 HP is more than anyone driving around on the streets need. Unless he’s planning on garaging it and just taking it up to the speed way every now and then he just blew $150K. He better be mature about this or he could seriously hurt himself or others.

This is a source of major concern for me.
There is no earthly reason to have a car with 1200 horsepower. Every horse over 350 is a police incident waiting to happen. This kid could wind up killing himself before he even begins to realize his potential in the NFL. I hope that Scott and Todd decide it would be best to have a long talk with him. And I hope the kid doesn’t drink. Worried.

He just likes the car. Just because it is fast doesnt mean he is going to do stupid things with it. Give him a shot before we doubt the guy everyone wanted… lol hes a kid, he wants toys. Maybe he can be mature with it and safe, like a few said, maybe the speedway.
