For Those About To Rock, We Salute You!

I know that I am just a koolaid drinker, but...

This draft has done nothing so far to have an immediate impact on the team, except for safety.  Oh, and the return game.  Well, I guess it did shore up the o-line.  And then there is the drafting of a new, high impact Dexter Mcluster as WR.  That's right, the Chiefs are listing McCluster as WR.  You wanna see Bowe hold onto the ball?  Get a few guys on the field that do and Bowe will wake up or go the way of Amani Toomer!  And then there's Areanas to upgrade the nickle back.  Hm.  I guess I am wrong, there are alot of upgrades.  But that stupid pick up of a TE is just amazing, when you consider how GOOD our TEs were last year.  Thank you Leonard Pope, Brad Cottam and Sean Ryan! 

I have heard time and again, how the Chiefs had so many holes to fill, yet when Pioli goes forward to fill a few he gets "You're taking the wrong flippin players!".  If the truth is that we had so many holes to fill, then there is no way that one draft could fill them all anyway.  BTW, we still have a few picks left.  Then there are the UDFAs to think about and after that teams will cut players who might still have a year or two in the tank that could be picked up CHEAP to fill a hole here and there.  

I don't know if Pioli is right or wrong yet--none of us do.  I personally like taking high impact players and it looks like we have done a bit of that in this draft.  I think that Pioli simply didn't think the "big" names that were there for our positions of need were any better than the 2nd and 3rd round guys for other positions.  Alot of you talk about REACHING for players.  Taking players that you don't like in the first place just because they are the best available is a true reach.  Mount Cody?  Child, please.  This guy is at least 50 lbs overweight and slower than molasses in winter time.  Everybody wants to talk about the kick he blocked, but I saw the film--it was a crappy kick that was so low it would have bounced off the back of one of Tennessee's linemen if Cody hadn't been standing there with his finger up his nose.  His bulk may have overpowered some college linemen but that don't feed the bulldog in the NFL.  McClain?  That dude is going to help the Raiders D kiss the baby for years to come.  They guy strikes me as having the smarts and ability but at the same time he plays lazy.  Is it really that easy McClain?  Not in the NFL.  Okung?  Was he really worth a pick at #5 when we can get a guy like Asamoah where we did?  Pioli did say that BA is our LT and so did Haley. 

If you get good solid players AND they tend not to wash out(this of course remains unclear but would have been so with ANY player)then you made your team stronger.  If this draft was as deep as everyone kept saying it was, then it would seem that we added strength.  What I do not hear are many people trashing the actual players.  Mostly there is agreement that what we got are good solid players.  That, gentlemen, is how you build a football team.  Just because the stars do not align every year to fix the Chiefs needs in one fell swoop, do not blame the man that has to make the picks.  I am still not ready to throw in the towel.  This season will answer alot of questions and make the picture alot more clear.  Pioli went a long ways towards earning his money this week.  It's now time for Haley, Crennel, Weis and the rest of the 'family' to start earning theirs. 

The journey of 1000 miles(and the journey to the Super Bowl)begins with one step.  We have taken several steps in the last few days and will continue the walk today and through out off season, preseason and regular season.  It's gonna be a wonderful ride.
