All of the trade back and trade up discussions started me thinking about draft pick "value". In the last few years, the old trade value chart has been effectively thrown out the window thanks to the contract costs of high draft picks. Leading to most teams being unwillingly to take a chance trading up very high due to risk/cost in the top ten.
Of course that is this year. Next year, assuming a new collective bargaining agreement is in place, it is expected to include a rookie wage scale. Also assuming that rookie wage scale is "fair", my question is would that make next years draft picks a better "value" and therefore worth more in trade? With a very deep 2010 draft, I'm sure plenty of Chiefs fans would be upset getting some extra picks in 2011 instead of 2010 but could those picks be more valuable or is that offset by the depth this year? If at all possible, I expect the Chiefs will be trying to move around quite a bit, so I wanted to explore the idea of 2011 picks before the trades kick in!

If the Chiefs do acquire more picks, which is the best "value"?
Only 2010 picks, it's a deep draft and we need immediate impact! (38 votes)
2011 picks would be great, this is a 3 year turnaround! (9 votes)
Either, just get the best possible deal! (37 votes)
