This post is of course build on the conjecture that Suh drops to us at 5. I also must add that I am a Cornhusker at heart and I am glad that we survived the Bill Callaghan error, I mean era.
We all know that Suh is a dominate 4-3 DT. He's explosive and strong. After the jump I am going to make a basic proposition and collect comments at the end.
So let's consider what the defensive lines job is in a 3-4 Defense. That job is to occupy all the offensive linemen to allow the linebackers to make tackles and generate sacks. When I look at a line that consists of Dorsey, Suh, Jackson (in no particular order), I can easily see how two of those guys could consistantly pull a double team. In fact, Dorsey was double teamed a far amount last year, as was Jackson, because of Ron Edwards lack of effectivenes as our Nose Tackle. So what happens when you replace ineffective Ron Edwards with Ndamukong Suh?
DOUBLE SUN POWER!!!
Despite those double teams on Dorsey's side, Hali still managed to effectively get to the QB. Imagine if he gets a little support.
What I am proposing is that we keep Dorsey and Jackson in their respective end spots, and use Shaun Smith and Suh at NT. On passing downs, we can use Suh and Dorsey in out 2-5. As Suh gets up to NFL speed and Technique, he will assume an increasing role. Then we have a lock down line for years.
Before answering my poll, I challenge you to think outside what you assume to know.
