Five Chiefs Yet To Sign Restricted Free Agent Tender

The deadline for teams to sign restricted free agents to an offer sheet is at the close of business today. At this point, it doesn't appear any of the Chiefs will receive offers.

Here's thefull list of Chiefs who were offered tenders:

First round level - LB Derrick Johnson ($2.621 million)

Second round level - QB Brodie Croyle ($1.759 million), LB Corey Mays ($1.759 million), G Ikechuku Ndukwe ($1.684 million), C Rudy Niswanger ($1.759 million), RT Ryan O'Callaghan ($1.759 million), S Jarrad Page ($1.759 million)

Four Five of those players have yet to sign their tenders, according to Bob Gretz of BobGretz.com. Those players include Page, Croyle, Mays, Niswanger and O'Callaghan.

After today, they lose their negotiating rights with other teams. Basically, this means another team can't step in and sign, say Croyle, to an offer sheet and relinquish a second round pick should the Chiefs not match.

After today, they can either sign their tender and play at that salary or negotiate a new contract.

[Editor's Note: A previous version of this story indicated that Jarrad Page has signed his tender. That is not the case.]

Can anyone confirm Page has signed?

Not that I don’t trust Joel, but I can’t find a news report anywhere that confirms this.

Reminded me of Chuck Norris facts..heres a fun game :)

Bob Gretz eats beef jerky and craps gunpowder. Then, he uses that gunpowder to make a bullet, which he uses to kill a cow and make more beef jerky. Some people refer to this as the “Circle of Life.”

Flawed logic

Chuck doesn’t need bullets to kill cows. He simply roundhouse kicks a cow which knocks it into preformed cooked hamburgers and steaks with grill marks in the shape of a cowboy hat.

Why did we tender Ndukwe so high when he barely played last year?

There were lots of good things said about him from the dolphins too. I wonder if as part of the trade agreement there was a playing time stipulation ie, the more he plays the higher the compensation for him. That could explain why he didn’t see much field time I guess… But would The Don do that to papa-in-law?

Cry Havoc! And let slip the Chiefs Defense of War!!!

Very weird.

I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

this is

for me another reason we should trade the ravens for that LT. after all the talk last night about o’callaghan still hasn’t signed and we really don’t want him . so the real ?? is what’s the hold up on this trade

by tombomb on Apr 15, 2010 9:33 AM CDT reply actions

My guess is that it has to do with the CBA

This is one of the few things that the players can do. If they don’t sign the tenders they can’t be traded before the decide to sign your

Go Chiefs!!!!

I thought Gaither signed his tender

I was speaking of O'Callahan, not Gaither.

Sorry, I hadn’t drank the coffee yet.

Go Chiefs!!!!

by ravenhawk on Apr 15, 2010 11:33 AM CDT up reply actions

Well it would appear

that Brodie has held out hope for as long as possible as well as mays. Niswanger knows that if he doesn’t put this season his buns will be roasting soon. O’Callahan it the one I find interesting here. From the look of what happened last year, you would think that he pretty much locked down the RT spot, yet no interest from anybody out there. Does this mean that Ryan still harbors resentment about being traded to the lowly chiefs? I hope not but it will be interesting to watch this going forward.

by Aiken_Drum on Apr 15, 2010 9:36 AM CDT reply actions

i find O'Call interesting as well

maybe since he wasnt re-signed that is why we heard alot of talk about Bulaga whom we all know is a RT!

Are we the team to beat in 2010? I sure think so! Go Chiefs.

by jrcnc on Apr 15, 2010 9:44 AM CDT up reply actions

O'Callahan wasn't traded

he was cut by the Pats and picked up off waivers. I see no reason for him to hold resentment to a team that made him a starter.

Croyle hasn't signed yet because

he is still passed out, because he can’t believe he is going to make almost 2 mil for holding a clipboard.

by bringbacktheglory on Apr 15, 2010 11:42 AM CDT reply actions

If he don't sign, I will...

I will gladly hold a clipboard, get water for the coach, take a yelling for my teamates, I would do anything…well almost anything for that kind of money.

Do or do not...there is no try. Yoda
