LJ Takes Thinly Veiled Shot At Chiefs Coach Todd Haley

Have fun with this signing, Mike Shanahan.

Former Chiefs RB Larry Johnson spoke with the Washington media this afternoon and of course couldn't go through the whole thing without getting a shot in at the Chiefs and coach Todd Haley.

Here's the question from the reporter:

Did some of what happened in Kansas City force some soul searching on your end to see where you had to go from there?

I just had to be with a coach who cares and knows what has to be done to put our team in the best situation to win. Being in that situation wasn't the best for my career or the organization. Going to the Bengals made it comfortable for me to find my transition and what I was going to do next.

Coach Shanahan talked to me on my visit here and this just seemed like a better fit for a coach that's actually been there.

Sigh...

Please tell me what coach would give a player this many carries in the first seven games -- 11, 24, 19, 18, 21, 23, 16 -- when said player is averaging less than three yards per carry.

Well lets see....LJ has absolutely NO CHANCE at ever making the Redskins proud

Haley on the other hand has a great chance at making the Chiefs proud.

Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!

I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.

Exactly Joel...he was given an opportunity here in '09

He put a good effort in only one of those games and was let go because of his lack of effort.

“Haley just doesn’t care about me and about doing what it takes to win…”

You’re getting paid millions of dollars!!!!!!!!!!!! Get over yourself and play the friggin’ game!!!!!!!!

I like your comment there at the end Joel.

The reall sad part about this

is that a vast majority of casual football fans out there see LJ through the same eyes that he sees himself through. They all think that he was the “good” player on a “bad” team whose NFL career has been wrecked because of where he played. All this, because the Chiefs have been such a poor team for most of LJs time here. Wait a minute…maybe he was PART of the PROBLEM! Wow! It is amazing what thinking will do for you.

Last word on LJ. Dude, you are making yourself look worse to the people who know you best. If you want to have ANY legacy at all, shut yer face and prove something on the field. It shouldn’t take 416 carries to gain 1700 yards. Show us what you got.

by Aiken_Drum on Apr 1, 2010 5:39 PM CDT reply actions

The real question is...
Did some of what happened in Kansas City force some soul searching on your end to see where you had to go from there?

…how many times will he have to do some “soul searching”? They asked that question as if he TOTALLY HAD NEVER had to stand in front of a group of people, admit that he needed to take some time to reflect on something he had done that was wrong. This isn’t his first rodeo.

When the team is winning and he’s in a good mood, he’s always been a great team-mate. But as soon as things don’t go his way, he’s absolutely detrimental. He’s no better than T.O. and Jeff George and the like, when it hits that point.

My long, drawn-out predictions that no one cares about, nor will bother to remember:

1. Todd Haley will still be the Chiefs Head Coach up to the 2011 season.
2. Clancy Pendergast won't make it to the 2010 season and was never intended to. Last-minute hire for a position that needed to be filled.
3. Todd Haley will not be the OC at the start of the 2010 season.

by jbj8609 on Apr 1, 2010 5:45 PM CDT reply actions   1 recs

Agreed and rec'd

I don’t believe that his replacement needed to do any “soul searching”, he just ran like hell!

by Supersport on Apr 1, 2010 5:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, I'm glad to see he's learned personal responsibility.

It’s good to see that he’s finally taking full responsibility for his own failures while he was here. I think that shows he’s really matured since he left; that he has ‘taken the diaper off,’ if you will, in another area of his life.

I hope he has a long, successful career.

by JacinB on Apr 1, 2010 5:47 PM CDT reply actions

I don't know, I think we should listen to what LJ has to say.

From what I understand his father played for the coach from Remember the Titans. I even googled him to be sure.

LJ still pouting huh?

Don’t be too hard on our used up grumpy old 2.7 limited edition, seriously, going 8 consecutive seasons without a diaper change?? Geez, that would bring non-stop tears to even the toughest of us Chiefs fan.

by tobeserved on Apr 1, 2010 6:26 PM CDT reply actions

So glad this guy is gone

It’s obvious he never respected Todd Haley as a coach. But then again, who does LJ really respect? Probably only Herm Edwards because Herm kissed his butt. Remember, he didn’t really care for Vermeil much either all because Vermeil started Priest Holmes (a top 3 running back in the league at that time) over LJ. After all these years, I can still say Vermeil was right; Johnson needs to take the diapers off.

Now, this scrub wants to take a shot at ANOTHER ex coach of his? Kent Babb has some great quotes on his twitter on LJ as a person…I can speak for the character of coach vermeil, players like faulk, guys who actually give it their all, loved coach vermeil…

jerseys

after Buying my Tony Gonzalez jersey( believing the chiefs would keep him as a life long face of the franchize, he was shipped off. SO, I get the Home AND away Jersey of LJ, thinking, “These may be worth something eventually” NOPE, wort investment ever, I may as well use them as shop rags. At Least when tony Hangs ‘em up, he will go into the hall as a Chief, so I will hold this jersey. Along with my Priest Holms Jerseys (I think he has the qualifications to get in the hall) it may be a 3-5th year vote, but his accomplishments (as a walk on with the Ravens, he won a Super-Bowl) then came to the Chiefs and revolutionized what a running back does, he was a moddern day Marcus Allen. I believe in Priest. I believe in Tony and I believe if we don’t fill a lot of gaps with players other than worn out old patriots, we are going to continue to have losing seasons. Fresh recievers, solid O-line and a backfield that is like flypapernear any ball
LONG LIVE THE CHIEFS!!!

I Feel Your Pain...

Bought a Dante Hall jersey, 1st official jersey I’ve purchased. He’s traded that season. So I buy a Priest jersey. He gets knocked out by Merriman. Then I get a Gonzo jersey, thinking along the same lines as you did. They trade him. So then I get a Jared Allen jersey, only to watch Peterson’s dumb ass ship him off to Minnesota in favor of LJ. Great, I’ll buy myself an LJ jersey. Oops, he’s an ignorant prick who only cares about himself and abuses women. I bought a DJ jersey, only to hear talks of him being traded. So I contemplated and finally decided to buy a Cassel jersey, only to see him get knocked out in the pre-season. I don’t think I want to buy anymore jerseys. I’m single-handedly killing the Chiefs!! Thought about buying a DBowe and Hali jersey, but we need those guys so I’m going to hold off!!

Things to get the Chiefs back on the winning side of football:

1. Haley resign as offensive coordinator or do the following;
a. Feed JC more
b. Take the cuffs off of Cassel and let him air it out
2. Fire Clancy "Calls" Playslikeass

by kcchiefsfan72 on Apr 2, 2010 11:27 AM CDT up reply actions

lol thats crazy!

I bought my first jersey last year before the season started. Hali was being brought up in trade talks and my local sports store had his jersey for 20 dollars so I snatched one up and I think I made a good pick. I really think they thought he was going to be traded because it was with the Gonzo jerseys and Thigpen jerseys.

LJ is a jerk

and never was a true Chief. Look at the men who carried themselves with dignity while on the field and after playing for the Chiefs – Lanier, Buchanan, Dawson, and how many other alumni. These guys are the true Chiefs – awesome players, and men who contributed to KC and their communities after they retired. LJ is a childish “me first” baby who will never understand the privilege he’s been given or the responsibility to the fans, his teammates or the coaches that goes with that privilege. The only problem is that now I have to cheer for the Cowboys when they play the Redskins.
