Samie Parker

Im alil disappointed. Not because you guys voiced your opinions but because of the way you did it. Samie Parker has been on AP and is talking about doing an interview for you guys. Me and Tomahawk have been trying to get him to start an account here and chat with everyone but I don't think he would have a very good experience after reading some of the rude comments. I know we all have our own opinions but maybe we should voice them a little nicer. Especially when that person may be reading what we wrote and that may steer them away from becoming a valued member of this great site. I don't know about you guys but I think it would be great to get the views of someone who has actually been on that level and more importantly in that locker room.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Its a blog

thats what makes this site great we can voice our own opinions…..by making our comments nicer or not as rude we would be taking away from our opinions. Sammie’s made it all the way to the NFL, Im sure hes dealt with more scrutiny than a couple of rude comments from fans. Im all for him doing an interview because I do think it would be cool to here what he had to say, but what happens when people start making rude comments on the interview. Either way AP is a great site for expressing opinions on our beloved chiefs, and I dont think anyone should have to change the way they comment in fear of how its going to be interpreted by others.

I understand

what you are saying. I’m just saying that there are other ways to put things. There has already been a lot of problems on this site where one poster is being rude to another and we are losing members for that reason alone. People are afraid or unwilling to post just because they don’t wanna see what someone else will say. I totally agree that we should all be able to state our opinions but I just think we need to do it in a way that doesn’t make people not want to keep coming back.

I think

we have to take the good with the bad…….The reason this site is sooo popular(other than the thorman brothers) is because everyone feels like they can openly express thier opinions. If someone is willing to leave the site because of someone elses comments then im sorry because this place provides alot of valuable information. They should have a little thicker skin and shouldnt take the comments to heart.

But i can promise this place has gained alot more members than it has lost.

Not really

A few people may feel that way but we are 7X bigger now than we were a year ago. And we continue to grow. We’re not losing readers.

Why do we care about Sammie Parker?

I’m a little baffled by this.

Are we worried about what Todd Blackledge thinks too?

my point....

is it our intent to drive people away from this site? If everyone on here said hey ChiefDJ has never had a post on here worth reading, all his comments suck, blah blah blah, and you read it would you feel welcome at this site? This site is more than just our opinions and even though it is about our Chiefs it is bigger than that at times. We have all made friends on here and I wouldn’t wanna make any of you feel like you don’t belong here.

but look how

many people are drove to this site with our open opinions, and im sure chiefs DJ has recieved harsh comments but hes still kickin

Wouldn't mind have Samie Parker on here.

He was not the best WR in the NFL, but he sure was a better WR than anybody on this site. After all he was the one in the NFL not us. If someone complains about how bad he was as a WR; he can remind them that at least he was good enough to play in the NFL.

by ChiefsFan90s on Mar 9, 2010 11:00 PM CST reply actions   1 recs

Samie says..

He would be willing to come chat with everyone like once a week. We are gonna try setting something up if you guys are interested.

by 51CMaysStays on Mar 9, 2010 11:01 PM CST reply actions

Get it done!

Be nice to get a player’s full; honest perspective on the Chiefs and the NFL.

by ChiefsFan90s on Mar 9, 2010 11:16 PM CST up reply actions

Honestly..

Samie Parker isnt in a position to tell us squat about the Chiefs.

He’s in a position to tell us about the NFL, the Chiefs during the time he was here, but..honestly..I could care less about what the Chiefs team was like back a few years ago.

I’m not taking anything away from Parker. I pulled for Parker hoping he’d develop his hands and catch more consistently. BUT..It WOULD be cool to talk with a player, and his experiences, so I think having him WOULD be cool.

BUT…if he can go thru the NFL, get cut from teams, bashed for not being able to catch..I believe his skin should be thick enough to withstand a few comments about his playing ability. Like someone else said..hes the one with NFL experience..not us.

by Petey14 on Mar 9, 2010 11:59 PM CST up reply actions

I'm not saying just because he was in the NFL his opinion of Chiefs would be better than ours.

It’s still an opinion, but he can offer a perspective that none of us can, from the NFL players’ point of view. Also, who said that he has not been keeping track of the Chiefs since leaving KC? His opinion is as valuable as everyone elses.

by ChiefsFan90s on Mar 10, 2010 12:33 AM CST up reply actions

he would have alot of tracking to do….he did play for 5 teams…..I dont see him being too concerned with the chiefs…..but still be neat to hear about the nfl

by cassel4prez on Mar 10, 2010 9:25 AM CST up reply actions

Lol

I’d chat with him. I think that’d be pretty cool. He’s gonna take his lumps though! :)

What lumps? the guy MADE it to the NFL

He played for your favorite team…… The guy is willing to chat with Chiefs fans when he isn’t a Chiefs any more c’mon……. Not everyday and NFL player is willing to do this. You really should embrace the fact that u get to ask him a question an maybe he might respond…….. I dunno maybe it’s just me.

by rdubz on Mar 9, 2010 11:08 PM CST up reply actions

That was me… I was surprised when he actually responded to me and then we started chatting regularly, I have also chatted with J Page a few times. It’s a pretty cool thing when you get to talk (type) to players who either play or have played for your favorite team

i think a lot of times...

people feel free to treat athletes like trash on the internet because they can hide behind there little computer screen. they r not personally connected to the player and therefore don’t care about the person behind the player. its sad and shallow. the player has to produce for us to care about him as a person. if they don’t well, eff that guy. if u had a friend who made it to the league but never did much, would u throw him under the bus? as fans though, we all too often hate on players who don’t give rewards to us…unless we personally know them. Pierre Walters hasn’t done anything yet but he came to this community and was welcomed with open arms. why the difference in treatment for S. Parker? i say if he wants to join this community, let him. i’d be happy to have him.

no disagreement, in general

but Mike … turn it around … how many high profile athletes are jerks to EVERYONE for no better reason than they can get away with it … the obnoxious trash talkers, the LJs and TOs and Brandon Marshalls othe the world

True

But Samie Parker has never shown any public history of being an a-hole. So unless he were to start acting like a rich stuck-up jerk; there is no reason to treat him like he is one.

Don’t forget, he is not LJ, TO, or Brandon Marshall.

by ChiefsFan90s on Mar 10, 2010 12:28 AM CST up reply actions   1 recs

very true...

but there r a lot of solid guys in the nfl who rnt jerks. just because there r jerks in this world doesn’t mean we have to treat everyone in the world as if they r a jerk. on a somewhat side note, those players who r jerks get away with it because we allow them to get away with it in many instances. some guys r just jerks in general. money just inflates the true self.

This is....odd...

Why doesn’t Mr. Parker just work this out with the Admins of the site…I will handle the personal attacks. There is no need for a middle man…

by woodman212 on Mar 10, 2010 12:36 AM CST reply actions

The reason Samie Parker doesn’t work this out with admins is because myself and Tomahawk are the ones who were trying to get him to come over and chat with everyone along with maybe an interview. I just figured if he came over and seen everyone blasting him it would run him off and there goes a good experience. I love this site and Im sure he will too.

by 51CMaysStays on Mar 10, 2010 6:15 PM CST up reply actions

i think of it this way

hes a pro receiver he was in the NFL hes not the first person in the history of sports to have negative comments. Imagine what haley hears in public.. or matt cassel even. no matter who you are you’ll recive negative comments. Even manning probably hears from know it all regular people all the time. Thats the price to pay when your in the NFL people will talk down on you no matter who you are, what you’ve done, or how nice you are.

Secondly, just because he is on this site shouldnt stop anyone from being honest. a lot of people had high hopes in parker but he didnt deliever like he should of. Maybe we could of been nicer in our comments but he should know this comes with being a NFL WR.

Annd Mr. Sammie Parker, if you do read this comment. You should know that i didnt mean to put you down in anyway, but instead of feeling bad about these negative comments. go train and become a great WR and prove all of us wrong!

You're a goddamn quarterback! You know what that means? It's the top spot, kid. It's the guy who takes the fall. It's the guy everybody's looking at first - the leader of a team - who will support you when they understand you. Who will break their ribs and their noses and their necks for you, because they believe. 'Cause you make them believe. That's a quarterback.

Huh?????

This is a bizarre post. Sammie is a grown man and doesn’t need a spokesman…..

If he wants to be part of the fam all he’s gotta do is pull a seat up to the table and join in..

by ill_spec on Mar 10, 2010 1:31 AM CST reply actions

Agreed...

The question yesterday was “Should we bring back Sammie.” I think my answer was something like “NO, he sucks.” That may not be polite (or even true) but it’s my opinion, and frankly it’s the opinion of most Chiefs fans. Obviously the guy has a ton of ability, because you don’t make it to the NFL if you do not, and you certainly don’t last as long as Parker did. Kudos to him, but compared to other NFLers, he is waaay below average.

I suppose I could have said “No, I think we should go in another direction.” But common….this is a blog, and you should really make a habit of NOT feeling sorry for millionaires.

Samie, if you are reading this....

and you want to be a member of AP then you get treated like everyone else. There will be no kid gloves and I would hope you wouldn’t bring your’s to the party either. Anything less and it would cheapen the AP membership experiance for me. Would it be cool to have a few NFL players to chat with? Sure it would but if you would like to “only come on once a week or so” then I would rather consider that a weekly Q & A session with an NFL player and that department get’s directed to the Brothers Thorman. So Samie come on down but I for one will not comment like I have someone looking over my shoulder, I’m a big boy and I have self regulation thank you.

My bold prediction and I think our best chance at moving down in the 1st. Bret Favre retires, Tavarris Jackson is not retained or leaves and the Vikings trade up, with our beloved Chiefs, for Jimmy Claussen.
