Eric Berry Likes Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers

Over the last few weeks, Kansas City Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers has been working out with Tennessee S Eric Berry.

Why is this interesting?

Because of all the folks that want the Chiefs to take Berry with the fifth pick in the NFL Draft.

Of course, it doesn't mean they're going to draft him or anything like that but Berry seems to like Flowers, according to this Twitter account.

Had a great workout with @BFlowers24. You'd think he was a coach.

Not a bad thing to hear, right?

Flowers has said on Twitter account before that he likes Berry as well. Seems like a good match, no?

I miss Bernie P so much...

If we still had Bernie we wouldn’t have to worry about picking up a strong safety. I’m pretty sure he picked off Peyton twice last year…and REGGIE WAAAAAAYNE. It’s cool though, ‘cause we have Mike Brown. He’s great at missing tackles and picking lines that make it impossible for him to try and make a tackle.

by The_Bernard_Pollard_Rule on Mar 9, 2010 3:07 PM CST up reply actions

Not to sound like a broken record but...

http://kan.scout.com/2/926374.html

Worst Burned Rate: Out of the league’s safeties who have been targeted at least 33 times, the Houston Texans’ Bernard Pollard has been burned the most (72.2 percent).

Don’t knock Brown for getting burned when Pollard obviously was burned more last year…

by groundedchevy on Mar 9, 2010 3:30 PM CST up reply actions

I’d still take Pollard over Brown any day.

Besides, 63% of statistics are made up.

only in england

here in the us it’s more like 96%

NOT TO SOUND LIKE A BROKEN RECORD BUT...

Were you watching Mike Brown as i was? Stat Check. Im pretty sure BP had a way better year that Brown. Too bad there isnt a stat for missed tackles with a dumb look on your face. Miles Austin is the biggest Mike Brown fan in the World.

by BALLard49 on Mar 10, 2010 9:36 AM CST up reply actions

I don't disagree with you about Brown getting burned

Do you remember watching Pollard play for us? I think Brown can be a fine safety for us if our linebackers could help cover. Brown had to play up closer to help our poor linebacker group. In the same sense Pollard probably wouldn’t have been burned so much if he didn’t have to help our linebackers….

LOL

It’s like I’m talkin to myself over here!!! I say that same all the time! I did see that.. I have like sixty pollard autos and a used glove from the rams texans game when he gave Steven Jacksons lip some attention.

I like it

and it seems like jarred page and flowers are pretty close……..I would really like to see this happen….especially if there can be a good group of continuity in the defensive backfield

i wonder if pioli has anything to do with them working out together…..and if he asked flowers to workout with him to learn a little more about the guy

by cassel4prez on Mar 9, 2010 2:40 PM CST reply actions

If Berry is there at 5 I don't see anyway we could pass up on the guy.

It’s not like we are stacked at safety. Page is a good safety, but we have no one to play the other side, and surely no one that is as good as Berry. It fills a need, and he’ll be the best player available if he’s still there at 5. If we drafted someone else, I’d be majorly disappointed.

Which is why I don't get how so many Chiefs fans act like drafting Berry is a luxury pick

One friend of mine was like “Why would you draft Eric Berry?? We have Page, and McGraw.” This was a real comment made to me. I think Page will do well for us in the upcoming years, but he probably won’t hold a candle to Berry, and McGraw is like 100 years old, and he’s only adequate other than special teams.

I dont see us taking him

Not that I don’t want to. But Pioli seems to want to fix the lines first, and he does that in the first round. But he also hasn’t been in this position where a guy like Berry is available and he fits a big need for us. As long as its not a QB or WR, I’ll be excited about whoever it is. But I think the 2 2nd rounders are more important that the #5 pick.

1. Are they an upgrade over what we already have?
2. Do they have high football IQ?

I wouldn't be upset with McClain really

but I just couldn’t possibly see Pioli skipping out on Berry if he’s there. Just can’t see it. The kid is a helluva player, apparently the second coming of Ed Reed (most experts seem to think this), and he’s a good kid. You couldn’t ask for more from a young player. And he fills a big need for us. So he matches all of the criteria you could be looking for as a GM on this team.

Unless Bradford's arm falls off during his pro day ....

the Rams are going to take him. They signed Feely as a stop gap, and they’ll be letting Bulger go soon. They aren’t going to be willing to give up draft picks for a guy like Vick. All of their moves and talk right now would lead you to believe that they will select Bradford assuming he doesn’t bomb his pro day.

Highly doubt D. Williams is there in rd. 2

Would probably have to trade up back into the first to grab him.

This helps...

me. I’ve been all for a LT with our 5th. But hearing that Berry likes Flowers is good. Means he’d work with them and they’d have good chemistry. I think chemistry is very underrated and I think it’s one of the most important aspects of football and goes with Pioli’s right 53. So seeing that there’s potential for great team chemistry between flowers and berry is great. sure would be a nice addition. hope he falls to us

The way i see it

Theres alot bigger talent gap between berry and a 2nd rd SS(burnett)……..then there is between mclain and a 2nd rd ILB

A drafting of Eric Berry

would greatly increase my optimism for this team. Overall, I think we got a lot of great options at 5, but my money is with Berry if hes available

Brandon Flowers never stops impressing me....great player

on his twitter he also said he would play with Kam Chancellor behind him ANY DAY

by SayHeyWerd on Mar 9, 2010 3:11 PM CST reply actions

I watched

Kam at the combine. Looked great. He moved a lot smoother than the other safeties. But definately not a talent like Berry.

by Nick_Keith on Mar 9, 2010 3:15 PM CST up reply actions

Please no not Bulaga

I’m sure he’s great, and a really safe pick, but not top 5, not a game changer like Berry could be

Im with ya Tt, but safer seems to be what Pioli likes.

Last year Aaron Curry was the “Eric Berry” of the draft and a lot thought we would snatch him up…

time out (zack morris style)

Aaron Curry was the best MLB last year, but Eric Berry is on a whole different level then Aaron Curry in my opinion. Curry wouldn’t be ahead of McClain in this years draft. Berry is top in any draft year.

by Pollard49 on Mar 9, 2010 3:18 PM CST up reply actions

but Curry was projected to be great in a 4-3 instead of 3-4

which is why I reason with myself that we passed on him for TJ.

Nice:

A thread about Flowers liking Berry followed by 230+ comments about how everyone else likes Berry too. Should have seen this coming. Who’d have thought this would turn into a Berry slobber fest?

Nice way to boost activity on AP Joel. Is this something to keep us distracted from the real issue… Thomas Jones? Because it’s working.

My sentiments are likely to be summed up with one of these 2 quotes:

well...not trying to repeat what everyone says but...

I endorse Eric Berry as the number 5 overall pick of the draft for the Kansas City Chiefs….however my number one choice with that pick would be to trade back.

Scott Pioli will find a way to make NT the biggest offseason priority.
KC Will Trade Derrick Johnson

I’m crushing on McClain…..

Eric Berry was my first love but some AP’er introduced me to Ro’ and he stole my heart away.

So Berry….but you will always be my first.

I read (here) Earl Thomas is most likely a 3rounder so I’m wondering what this anomaly means. Anyone have some “inside” info about him … and is it possible that berry is overhyped ? I haven’t seen any of them play so really I have no clue :)

how about morgan

djaun morgan should have been the starting ss last year instead of brown and add in donald washington and we have more talent in the secondary then alot of people realize.as far as brandon carr is concerned his last game when he went to a meltdown after the pass interferance call was playing very well the last 5 or 6 games before, not counting how well he played as a rookie last year.cannot wait to see how well he takes to emmit thomas….
