And now for something completely different!

Good morning AP. I would like to try something different. A completely new type of mock draft. Don't run yet. Hear me out. This is going to be different than any other mock draft out there. Trust me.

I love to play Civilization Revolution and it inspired me to come up with this idea  for a post. In this imaginary scenario, there is NO NFL. It has been disbanded. It no longer exists. However, we here at AP have been given the daunting but fun task of rebuilding it from the ground up.

It is up to us to draft the following key positions; (no, we are not drafting any players)

a) Your owner

b) Your GM

c) Your head coach

As I said before you do not get to draft any players. Your new Owner, GM and HC can do that once their established. Since we are all Chiefs fans, by default, the organization will the Chiefs, the team will be the Chiefs and the city will remain Kansas City.

The only rules are that you have to choose from within the NFL pool. In other words, you can not choose Bill Clinton to be your owner since he has never been an NFL owner. But you can choose anyone past or present as long as they have at any time past or present held that position in the NFL. Some possible conflicts could arise here so I will attempt to avoid those by clarifying the rules a little bit more here.

Since Bill Parcells has held both the title of GM and HC, you can use him in both positions. In other words, he could be your GM AND/OR your HC. Jerry Jones could be your Owner and GM since he has held both positions in the NFL. Mike Shannahan could be acting GM and HC since he has done both. However, Hoodie would NOT qualify as a GM for this scenario since he is not OFFICIALLY listed as the GM of the Patriots. He would only qualify as your HC.

Again, even though you have to choose from within the NFL pool and can not choose from outside the NFL, you CAN choose anyone past or present. They do not have to be active in that position now. So Tom Landry could be your HC, even though he is long since retired. Vince Lombardi could be your HC. Just as long as you choose from past or present NFL personnel who have held the position you are selecting them for, your good.

I will go first.

a) The owner - This was the only one that was no contest. I will take the Rooney family. No question about that one. If I was forced to choose an alternate, it would probably be Jerry Jones, but I would have to think about that one for quite some time. The ONLY clear cut winner for me would be the Rooney family.

b) GM - I would love to take Pioli, except that he does not have near enough time as a GM to have a history. So I will go with Bill Polian.

c) HC - I will choose Don Shula. (but Tom Landry is standing in his shadow. I love Tom Landry) This was a tough one.
