Around SBN: Ohio State And Florida Target 2013 Receiver Recruits

Expect the Bears to start reducing player costs and release players this week, starting with tight end Desmond Clark, whom they’ve tried to trade without success so far….

pretty hilarious on Marshall

I think Josh is going to screw the pooch and they’ll have another big Marshall circus going on all next season as well. Fine by me if he tears that club apart.

What's up with Limus Sweed?

Did they tender him or is he still under contract? Seems to me he could use a change of scenery.

My bold prediction and I think our best chance at moving down in the 1st. Bret Favre retires, Tavarris Jackson is not retained or leaves and the Vikings trade up, with our beloved Chiefs, for Jimmy Claussen.

If the Steelers think this
very disappointed in his overall toughness and willingness to do the things necessary to be a pro.

Then we should take it seriously.

He may not even go back to training camp.

With three games left he was put on IR for “undisclosed illness”.

Kid has all the physical attributes and I can understand the urge to see if Haley can make him into something, but he has been a huge disappointment. Training camp fodder maybe, but I’d rather draft some guys and give them time.

Greg Olson's not happy anymore either

Maybe we can treat him like a Dallas Clark. I wouldn’t want him blocking anyway hes average at best, but throwing him in the slot sometimes would create an advantage against a LB/S. Maybe I’m just bitter about not seeing our TE tearing it up!

by KCinIL on Mar 7, 2010 1:43 PM CST reply actions

i would love to see that kid in KC

i know it’s been stated Haley doesn’t use a TE, but, Bowe/Chambers/Olsen, that would be pretty potent.

by bansky on Mar 7, 2010 2:04 PM CST up reply actions

yeah

I’d rather pick him up than Watson. Of course, Watson is UFA right? I also think that if we had a good receiving TE, Haley would use him more.

its not really going to be Haleys call anymore....

Wies uses the tight end…at least they did in NE.

The Bears have no picks

In the 1st or 2nd…Maybe a draft day trade for Olson?

by Baldock1 on Mar 7, 2010 2:05 PM CST up reply actions

if KC is amped up for some kind of offensive threat in the second round

and Olsen can be had for a second round pick, why the hell not? he’s young, would be with the team for awhile, oozes talent…

but, i still would rather see them build the trenches…but Olsen, that’s hard to pass up.

by bansky on Mar 7, 2010 2:09 PM CST up reply actions

a good consideration

I wasn’t really familiar with him but he looks good to me. I don’t know about a second, but who ever knows? If he’s a star it’s a steal, if he’s not it’s a ripoff.

Why not just take Aaron Hernandez in one of the later rounds. They are the same player.

My bold prediction and I think our best chance at moving down in the 1st. Bret Favre retires, Tavarris Jackson is not retained or leaves and the Vikings trade up, with our beloved Chiefs, for Jimmy Claussen.

I know that PIoli wants to address the TE position

But I think we have more pressing needs in rounds 1-2.

Round 3 at the earliest. Absolute earliest.

I’d really prefer a FA. I don’t think Watson or a similar talent will cost that much.

Slow day in FA eh?

I'd like to make a trade for Ingram

The TE in Philly. Injury prone, but he’s got good size and is quick. Worth giving up a sixth or seventh I’d think.

But if Desmond Clark were to get released I wouldn’t mind him either.

Welcome!

But I hope you have reason to change that screen name soon.

Predictions:

1) Fans will feel just scads better from mid-to-end of the 2010 season.
2) During the 2021 season, Ryan Succop will become the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1469 points.

as well. Im very optimistic about all the changes at one arrowhead drive. This rebuild seems like the real thing. Not just another bandade. Ala king carl.

Not really, he can't play in Denver.

Wrong Clark

I was talking about the Bears Clark. In Denver’s only one game a year though, so I do think that Ryan would be a good pickup too.

by Donald Driver on Mar 7, 2010 11:42 PM CST up reply actions

My bad I got my posts mixed up.

I like Ryan Clark but to not beable to play in Denver that is a deal breaker. When we play the Broncos SOMETHING is always on the line. If both teams continue on the path they are on we will be playing for a AFC West crown. We would need our starting saftey for those games.

Hard to imagine giving up a first rounder for Marshall

So the Redskins might go for it (or Raiders, but no way Marshall stays in the AFC west), but with his attitude problems it seems like way too much of a gamble. Do you guys really see anyone giving up a top pick for this guy?

Of course, the Bears badly overpaid for Cutler, but that team feels itself slipping behind in its division and has gotten desperate.
