Bengals Sniffing Around Chris Chambers

I asked this morning what is going on with the Kansas City Chiefs and unrestricted free agent WR Chris Chambers

Apparently there is no agreement in place because the Cincinnati Bengals have Chambers -- and WR Terrell Owens -- on their short list of receivers, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Owens is just part of a list that includes Antonio Bryant, Kevin Walter, Chris Chambers, and Josh Reed. The way head coach Marvin Lewis talked last week at the NFL scouting combine, the Bengals aren't looking to make a quick, lucrative deal. But in the past they have put out feelers on the first day and then waited for the market to settle.

Hobson says with some of those receivers the Bengals likely won't want to do more than a one year deal because of their age.

As of now, the Chiefs are still in it. Chambers is likely more valuable to the Chiefs than any other team out there so if the Chiefs want him, it appears they'll have to wait until he tests the market.

Damn them!

he’s gunna want to go somewhere else.

Regardless of who the Chiefs pick at #5 overall, Whitlock will call it the worst pick in the history of the Chiefs. Heres to hoping that #5 pick runs Whitlock out of town.....

And From What I Have Been Told...

by these retarded Chargers fans, he’s slapped his girly around a time or two. He and LJ can go out clubbin’…

Things to get the Chiefs back on the winning side of football:

1. Haley resign as offensive coordinator or do the following;
a. Feed JC more
b. Take the cuffs off of Cassel and let him air it out
2. Fire Clancy "Calls" Playslikeass

Also...

That’s two front page articles today on Chambers. How about we get a picture of him actually catching a ball?

he only had one official drop in '09

Didn't he have quite a few in San Diego?

that was part of why they let him go… along with them wanting to sign Malcom Floyd, and Vincent Jackson.

Go Chiefs!!!!

This offseason is starting out in very disappointing fashion for the Chiefs.

Are not trying to sign anyone yet, and could lose their most valuable FA soon.

Good thing we still have an entire offseason to go, because this first weekend is not starting out all that great.

by ChiefsFan90s on Mar 5, 2010 12:46 PM CST reply actions

Shouldn't be surprised by any of this.

We are never really day one players and Pioli didn’t win all those awards by being anxious in free agency.

by 3GChief on Mar 5, 2010 12:54 PM CST up reply actions

I'm not that anxious in free agency either.

However, one day of free agency does not last this long on Madden.

by ChiefsFan90s on Mar 5, 2010 1:04 PM CST up reply actions

Disappointing??? We signed the 2 best co-ordinators available, and arguably have the best coaching staff in the league. That’s far more important than jumping in head first after some of these over 30, about to be way overpaid, early free agent market players. If the Chiefs avoid over 30’s altogether, even Chambers, I’ll be happy.

by dablueguy on Mar 5, 2010 1:17 PM CST up reply actions

That and he's been on the decline--physically--for a few years now...

Chances are he won’t complete a full season next year either. If you can get something for him, might be worth it.

Just a thought.

And the hammer drops

Not signing Chambers would put WR towards the top of the needs list!

by Larryemcdaniel on Mar 5, 2010 12:48 PM CST reply actions

Was it just me

Or wasn’t there somethin saying we did sign him? Im guessing I read something wrong somewhere…damnit!

by KCinIL on Mar 5, 2010 12:49 PM CST reply actions

NO!

I’d rather pick up a WR later on in the draft. For that we need Chambers here. Get it done Chiefs!!

Haley and Pioli are on vacation right now

they are backpacking through Europe, said they would take care of business sometime in August! :)

No thanks

I wouldnt want him even if he went undrafted

by badassz1987 on Mar 5, 2010 12:56 PM CST up reply actions

that is ridiculous

why would you say that? He’s probably the biggest impact playmaker for offense in this entire draft. In case you didn’t catch last years Chiefs, we could use some of that on this team.

by Chiefsfan1970 on Mar 5, 2010 1:57 PM CST up reply actions

he's also the biggest premadonna in the entire draft

he’s another crabtree just waiting to happen. another TO in the making. take your pick. both aren’t worth the trouble.

Seriously mates, when have I ever been sarcastic?

Oh and in case you were wondering, that hug offer is still there when you are ready UC :p

by Leaf on Mar 5, 2010 7:16 PM CST up reply actions

oh and i'd debate him being the biggest impact plater on offense

not saying he’s not very talented, but i wouldn’t consider him the must have offensive player

KC should get him.

Clark’s going to have to open up the wallet though. Chambers is going to test the market out, and probably use that against the Chiefs.

My sentiments are likely to be summed up with one of these 2 quotes:

"Shut the f--- up."- Matt Cassel
"WHAT THE F---?!?!"- Todd Haley

Your is spelled wrong. It should be you're which is a

contraction for you are. Your is possessive. So in effect that sign says “smile, your (my) saving a lot of money.” What? If any organization puts up a misspelled sign they must be a bunch of dumb asses.

They couldn't afford the ' and e.

that way they can become “cheaper than cheaper”. Who is Cheaper, and what does Cheaper sell that is more expensive. If cheaper isn’t a noun then it comes off much like the new and improved. If it is new how can it be improved. If it is cheaper than cheaper does the price become negative and you have to pay me to take it?

Go Chiefs!!!!

I still think Terrence Copper has potential for us.

Then there’s Lance Long & Quentin Lawrence. We could have a hidden jewel just waiting to mature.
Then again, if we lose Chambers we will have to look outside the box.

Scott Pioli's star will shine in 2010.
Win or lose, the Chiefs scare the bejesus of all opponents in 2010

we can only hope

You're a goddamn quarterback! You know what that means? It's the top spot, kid. It's the guy who takes the fall. It's the guy everybody's looking at first - the leader of a team - who will support you when they understand you. Who will break their ribs and their noses and their necks for you, because they believe. 'Cause you make them believe. That's a quarterback.

Cassel can lead us.

I think Chambers could be a good fit here in Cincy........

With our Oline getting a chance to gel and giving Palmer just a bit more time he could find thing here to his liking as well. I would rather have Bryant but he will probably be long gone by the 21st pick and the other WRs are reaches in the 1st. If we could sign Chambers and somehow have Iutapi fall to us our O could match our D and we would be a very hard team to beat. BTW you lost a good man when you let Krumie go a line coach.

bye bye krumrie

No tears, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

If you look at actual production

Krumrie is a terrible coach.

If you go by amount of yelling and cussing, he’s one of the best.

by kcsno56 on Mar 5, 2010 2:44 PM CST up reply actions

Not sure why they would let him part

unless they are expecting to draft very high for a WR (2a/b) in the draft. Without Chambers it’s looking pretty thin besides D-Bowe

by Moreno on Mar 5, 2010 2:41 PM CST reply actions

Lance Long

he could develop into the Wes Welker KC version as intended, with the new coaching staff, we might get to see alot of him in 2010.

Chiefs are going to surprise alot of people in 2010 !!!!

Lance Long

Or he could get crushed.
Although he has potential its a stretch!
