Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

Chiefs Tender Two More Restricted Free Agents

The Kansas City Chiefs have offered two more tenders to restricted free agents, according to Bob Gretz of BobGretz.com.

Also, the Chiefs  have given starting center Rudy Niswanger and backup tackle Ikechuku Ndukwe tender offers with a second-round draft choice as the compensation. For four-year veteran Niswanger, that's a one-year deal of $1,759,000 and for three-year player Ndukwe that's a tender worth $1,684,000.

Second round tenders for both players. They'll definitely be safe at that level.

Niswanger, 27, started every game for the Chiefs last season.

Ndukwe, 27, was brought to the Chiefs in a trade from the Miami Dolphins. He saw a little action in 2009 but his future is definitely in question.

Future starting QB?

thats probly one of the funniest things Ive ever heard

by badassz1987 on Mar 4, 2010 4:04 PM CST up reply actions

ill take that as a joke

You're a goddamn quarterback! You know what that means? It's the top spot, kid. It's the guy who takes the fall. It's the guy everybody's looking at first - the leader of a team - who will support you when they understand you. Who will break their ribs and their noses and their necks for you, because they believe. 'Cause you make them believe. That's a quarterback.

Cassel can lead us.

Damn it

F***ing Niswanger. And that is a ridculous amount on our #3 RG, Ndukwe.

Seems like the decision came down between Ndukwe and Alleman and Pioli chose Ndukwe.

well remember, he DID trade for the guy

I'm fine with it

Look how valuable W. Smith turned out to be. Niswanger is basically a younger Smith. Do I want him starting at C? Hell no, but I’m good with keeping someone with starting experience for depth. We’re so far under the cap it really is not a big deal money wise.

hmmm

definitely staying put noone will give up a second round for them, i dont even think someone would give up a 5th for them to be honest, although i like rudy good locker room guy and works hard

by KCALLTHEWAY on Mar 4, 2010 3:09 PM CST reply actions

niswanger can ge a great back up player he can play all 3 interior o line positions + might be able to play rt if needed

by pmwz on Mar 4, 2010 3:10 PM CST reply actions

As a backup

pmwz hit the nail on the head they are still going to look tooffensive line but you need BACKUPS doesnt mean he starts next year

Don't forget this one Joel

Lanier63 via Twitter – this just in: i have learned that Lanier63 was tendered for a 19th round pick of the nose, one pair of click clacks and a case of diet cokes

Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...

They should just give me Niwwangers 1.7M

Ill be just as effective on my couch at home as he will be on the bench at the stadium.

Not what I expected.

Surely they will tender or sign Brodie.
I bet Pioli won’t release info on him till late tonight, cuz I fear if they tender him for a 2nd round we may lose him.

Scott Pioli's star will shine in 2010.

Nice...

love the Naked Gun reference…

Things to get the Chiefs back on the winning side of football:

1. Haley resign as offensive coordinator or do the following;
a. Feed JC more
b. Take the cuffs off of Cassel and let him air it out
2. Fire Clancy "Calls" Playslikeass

bad news for wade smith?

Keeping Ndukwe and Niswanger may mean Wade Smith is out. Assuming we add a center, Colin Brown may be going back to back-up tackle.

by Red Cloud on Mar 4, 2010 3:24 PM CST reply actions

well, Brown was on IR or PUP and had surgery ... he's still an unknown for now

W Smith > Niswanger

Draft prediction top 10 - 1. Bradford 2. Suh (Chiefs trade up) 3. McCoy 4. Claussen (trade Campbell to Carolina, trade for J Brown) 5. Okung (Detroit) 6. Berry 7. Haden 8. Campbell 9. Davis (Bills trade for Vick) 10. Morgan (Jags draft Tebow in 2nd round) 2/23/09

W Smith played decent last year. He wasn’t the trainwreck that Niswanger was. Not to mention Smith can play every position on the offensive line.

sign Chambers, Dump Croyle!

Just Saying…. you can even put a “fragile, handle with care” sticker on his box when you send him packing!

by JimDog on Mar 4, 2010 3:47 PM CST reply actions

For all the Croyle bashing...

I have absoluetly no problem with keeping him as a backup. I’d would rather have him as my backup than Guteirrez or some mid-round rookie.

I’d like to see us draft Jevan Sneed

by UKCfan47 on Mar 4, 2010 4:45 PM CST up reply actions

But there is good news -

KC can get Bernard Pollard back from Texas for only a 1st rounder now

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
