Chiefs Will Have To Pay High Price For Cardinals RFAs
We know Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley likes to keep his eye on some players he's familiar with, namely the players from his former employer, the Arizona Cardinals.
So let's see what they're doing over in Arizona.
The Cardinals today tendered two players at positions of need for the Chiefs.
First up is WR Steve Breaston who was offered a first round tender.
There's no way the Chiefs pay that price but it doesn't mean he's off the market. The Cardinals, if they want to keep him, likely felt he was safe at that numbers.
Second up is NT Gabe Watson who was offered a second round tender.
Watson isn't talked about as often and his second round level tender suggests the Cardinals aren't completely certain he's the future. At 6'4", 329 pounds, Watson certainly has the size to be effective
C Lyle Sendlein was given a second round tender. He's been described as technically sound and has held down the starting job for two seasons after going undrafted. I don't think the Cardinals want him to get away.
The tender levels for these players suggest to me that Breaston is a keeper and they'll listen to offers for Watson.
Either way, I don't think the Chiefs will be players at those prices.

2nd round tender for Watson is pretty good
considering he was a 4th round pick. He does far better for them than former 2nd round pick Alan Branch. With Bryan Robinson being a free agent, I doubt Gabe’s going anywhere.
The studs from the 2010 draft class will be: DT Ndamukong Suh, S Eric Berry, RB C.J. Spiller, RB Jahvid Best, WR Arrelious Benn, WR Golden Tate, WR Mardy Gilyard, OT Charles Brown, CB Kyle Wilson and S Chad Jones
Watson
would have to have an excellent track record at NT to take him for a 2nd…If a team is desperate for a 3-4 NT, I still wonder if they’d rather take someone at 1 or 2 in the draft (or lower) if he has a more promising upside than what you have with Watson.
The big question would be…What could Crennel do with him if anything?
You know what you get with him so he would have to be impressive already or at least be the kind of guy who is ripe to come out with the kind of coaching we’ll have this year.

so
we have Watson available for a 2nd and rams dt Ryan available for a 2nd. Wonder if either team would take a 3rd? Is that a possibility or can it be "negotiated? Wasnt that what happened with Cassel? I’d almost feel safer getting one of those guys with a 3rd than playing draft roulette with Cody in the 2nd or Cam in 3rd or Troup in 4th.

and...
I think this means Boldin is a goner. Breaston, Doucet and Fitz gelled in the playoffs. bolidn was not missed. He can be had for cheap too. AZ has no leverage on an “older, unhappy” wr on his last yr of a contract. Get something for him and get him out of there. 4th rounder. done deal.

and KC *wants* an older, unhappy WR ... why?

hi, Mo!
5 minutes!!!
Boldin > anything we currently have
and he is only unhappy in AZ cuz they are screwing him with his contract
I'm Not So Sure...
Over the last few years I don’t see Bouldin being any better than Chambers or Bowe… He is always hurt and misses way too many games. His numbers are OK, but that is with lots of other playmakers distracting other defenders and a Hall of Fame QB. I would give the 4th for him, but that is about it. A solid reciever, Yes, better than what we have? I don’t think so…
he can be the number 1 guy with lots of money
Probably be happier. And he’s always competed and stayed on the field
1. Are they an upgrade over what we already have?
2. Do they have high football IQ?
3. Can they make a difference from Day 1?
4. Do they have a history of leadership?
5. Sign him up.

Michael Lombardi on NFL network
said that he has been told that AZ will trade Boldin for a 3rd round pick. I say do it now
They sure want him over at Tampa Bay
They say he’s well worth the 3rd rd pick
So would they take a 3rd from the ’11 draft?

Watson is an example of over-analysis in the draft
Every year there’s a really talented guy whose character and work ethic come into question because of weight. Haloti Ngata fell just a little, but Alan Branch and Gabe Watson dropped like rocks. Watson might well be worth a 2nd, but would definitely be worth discussing in a trade with Arizona instead of going the RFA offer sheet route.
Lyle Sendlein…well, let’s just say I’m a Longhorns fan, and I think the guy was wrongly ignored in his draft class. I would hesitate to trade a second-round pick for him, but I would definitely like to see him in KC via trade for a reduced price or player. He’s at least a solid center, even if not a star, and would represent a significant improvement. I think the certainty he’d offer would make him worth more than, say, KC’s fourth-round pick.
I have beat wholesale ass for a whole lot less.
