Arrowheadlines: Chiefs News 3/29

Good morning, AP! Another week, but his time the Kansas City Chiefs are active. Strengh and conditioning begins today. It's pretty much like opening day (but a little less exciting). Not a lot of news out there, but here's what we found.

Monday morning is the kickoff to the Chiefs off-season strength and conditioning program and the tension and anxiety level in the locker room must be significantly lower than it was at this time last year.

Todd Haley hopes it’s not too low; a healthy dose of anxiety is something he wants for every one of his players.

There isn’t a soul on the roster that after his performance during the team’s 4-12 season in 2009 that should feel he’s arrived in the NFL and he can’t improve his production and efficiency. If there is someone of that mindset, he will be exposed very quickly once the bodies are set in motion during the workouts.

From the start, Osborne knew his Huskers players could have a big impact on their young mentees, partly because kids already looked up to them, but mostly because they were men.

Osborne can point to studies that say many young people today are hurt by a lack of consistent adult male role models in their lives. However, women are just as critical to the TeamMates program.

Some of the Huskers who participated in the earliest program are still active today in some kind of mentoring capacity.

Offensive lineman Will Shields spent his pro career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He and his wife, Senia, established the Will to Succeed Foundation in Kansas City, with a mission to reach out to abused and neglected women and children.

Troup had a pretty busy week last week. The school held its Pro Day on Friday where he took part in position drills only. The defensive tackle stood on his numbers from last month’s Scouting Combine.

Former Browns head coach and current Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel was in town last Monday to work the player out.
