"He really liked Gunther Cunningham," Barnes said. "I mean, he really liked him, and he liked the defensive line coach (Kocurek). He had a lot of enthusiasm.

"Suh said he thinks he can continue to learn and evolve under Gunther Cunningham."

so your

saying that from kid to man, he would have had the best coach possible all the time growing up?no he has talent to a certain degree.

by cainsbigonchiefs on Mar 20, 2010 10:23 PM CDT up reply actions

To a certain degree,

exactly. Takes player and coach. There’s a reason not everybody can be an NFL player, and there’s a reason not everybody can be an NFL coach.

Remember, a lot of draftees are still impressionable kids. They’re about 22, which counts as a kid in America nowadays, and they didn’t all grow up in the hood or go on two-year missions to bumfukistan. Some of them never even got a paycheck before they signed their first NFL contract. The wrong coach can do a lot of damage to kids like that.

I think he's just contrasting

Different types of life experiences that might lead to a higher or lower level maturity or at least savvy when it comes to dealing with everything that comes with being an NFL player.

Growing up in a high poverty area with little opportunity would probably do little to prepare a person, whereas going on a mission would give one a higher degree of self-reliance and maturity in dealing with outside influences.

I could be dead wrong, but that’s how I interpreted it.

I took it as a compliment

as he listed our RM’s as in the minority of mature men in the NFL.

Only people who carry the opinions of others need the support of others.

by Peyote on Mar 20, 2010 10:37 PM CDT up reply actions

yes really

Bradford falls and we don’t pick him up I might b checkin my chief credentials that guy has a cannon I don’t know how many times I seen cassel under throw guys or miss targets granted we have the worst receiving core on the planet right now. But still we need a franchise guy in my opinion cassel is a band aid we need a real qb with a cannon and who we can build around for years to come if he falls to us we have to pick him have to.

Well, I gotta say I'd like Bradford at #5

more than Bulaga. That goes against Pioli’s history, though.

i know its not piolis style but a tom brady was a lucky stab

That type of player only comes once a life time. Bradford is the real deal no way we can pass on him I feel he is like an elway or marino type qb he could b good for a lot of years and chiefs need a franchise guy so bad instead of someone elses garbage qb from montana to trent green now to cassel its like when we going to grab a real qb it sickins me to see a guy like flacco flurish when we had the chance to grab him.

doesn't Croyle have a cannon?

didn’t work out so well for us; granted he didn’t have much help, and neither did cassel last year. I’d take matt over brody any day and i even like brody. not because of injuries, but because i think matt’s a better leader, worker and doesn’t make many mistakes that cost games.
plus, i saw matt make throws of 40, 50 and 60 yrds. timing wise they were under thrown, but i’m sure he can make all NFL throws or he wouldn’t be here. and if he was a band aid, we wouldn’t have given him the contract we did

Why does Suh like Gun so much?

Here’s a possible clue…

Suh’s mother, Bernadette, was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, while his father, Michael, hails from Cameroon and played semi-pro soccer in Germany. Suh’s parents have never like the American tradition of “Thanksgiving.”

well… except for the last line…

Cut Gun some slack...

IMO he was an awesome DC the first time around (1995–1998). Head coach and 2nd run as DC…not so much, but he put a lot of time/energy/effort into making the Chiefs a good team. (I blame Carl Peterson for the way things went LONG before I would blame Gun).
