Your Latest Chiefs' Draft Interests Update (Now Sortable)
Good morning Chiefs fans!
I'm here to atone for my draft interest mistakes earlier this week by giving you a brand new Kansas City Chiefs draft interests table. Now, the table is sortable by each column and I've linked each player's name to the story about them on Arrowhead Pride. Click the header of a column to sort it.
There aren't any big updates this time - only a handful of new players and a couple I missed before - so this particular update is really about showing off our fancy new sortable table. Personally, I think the ability to sort it makes it 10x more interesting to look at.
Joel and I were just talking about getting a list together of all of the Pro Days the Chiefs have attended. That's the next project we'll get done ASAP. Unless, you know, someone wants to search the archived posts and get that together....
Check out who the Chiefs are interested in, after the jump.
Click the first row in a column to sort it by that column.

Seems to suggest Berry or trade down right now
Not sure that I would want to pick any of the other with the #5
Thanks

Been a long time coming
Finally just took a couple of hours on this rainy Austin morning to get it right.

this is 10x better
I was only marginally interested in the list before but sorting is very interesting.
Nice
Glad to hear it.

Sweet...
Looks like they may really be hoping to trade down. Thanks for the work.

Thank you
I really enjoyed the other version, but this one is excellent. What an interesting picture you get when sorting by Position, then Private Workout, then ….. lots of fun.
I can’t wait to see the chart on Apr 22nd with the column “Selected”. That will make the rest of the draft that much more interesting to see who may be next based on need and projected round.
Thanks again for the work you put into it.
Thanks

Do you think
KC is scouting all these safeties to see how much of a drop off there is from Eric Berry?
If Berry is there at #5, I wonder if KC trades down with say San Fran to get extra draft picks.

Centers
I’m a little concerned about a center. I don’t see any on this list yet, and KC needs one. For all that this is a deep draft, I only see maybe a half dozen college centers who’d prick my ears up on draft day, in any round.
I’m worried they’ll either reach for one or miss out on drafting one altogether. But I guess they only have so many picks…
The path to Victory is made of losers.
I am with you on that thought
Hoping Pauncey can fall to us on 2A pick or that we can get C/ Eric Olsen in 4th rd.
Thanks Chris
Would you imagine the private workouts would hold the most weight on interest?

Guys from the same school and pro day scouting
How is it that there’s an X in the pro day column for, say, Eric Berry, but not for Jon Crompton? It would seem unlikely that the scouts would go to the pro day and only scout one player. In fact, darn near unheard-of.

Can't figure out how to use the sarcastic font!
But thanks for not thinking I was being negatively critical. It just seemed odd

Chris, have to say this is one of the top five best post!
Right behind the signing of Chambers, Jones, Lilja, our free agents, and whoever I forgot to mention. Well done Job!
Success is when preparation meets opportunity!

3 private workouts with safetys and 4 with OL.
We are intent on upgrading those positions apparently.
Cry Havoc! And let slip the Chiefs Defense of War!!!
kind of interesting how they fit in by rounds also

yes it is. makes me think we'll take a OL in the second and wait a little bit for a safety.

No way...
Dan Williams falls to the 2nd round.
1. Suh will fall to us at 5
2. McClain will fall to us at 2a
3. The Chiefs will trade DJ and keep Dorsey
Hope so, great list! Agree Williams won't make it past the 1st round tho
Much as I hate KU, I’d sure like to see Meiers in a Chief’s uniform as an undrafted pick. If Blount and Rolle fall to the 5th that’d be an insane bargain for us!
Thomas Jones and the Lombardi, DO IT!
I hope so too but I dont see Blount falling that much
I think he goes in the end of the 2nd or 3rd round. I really want him and Rolle though especially Rolle!
Great list. I almost forgot who we worked out.
Looks like some interesting names. How bout give the 1st rd to an OT or NT. Pick up Thomas “if” we dont go for Berry, with the 2a pick, 2b maybe Weatherspoon. I’d get another lineman “o” or “d” lines, & try to fill safeties.
I stand corrected..was thinking you were talking about Earl Thomas
If Syd’Quan Thompson is who you were referring to..he will fall to 4th rd or farther because of height and lack of speed. Dickerson doesn’t get to 3rd rd, Blount doesn’t get past 5th rd, Saffold doesn’t make it past 2nd rd.
Nice
I really like that i don’t want to know absolutely everyone who is in the draft just nice to know how interested the Chiefs are in each player. Thank you
My Mock Draft
My 1st choice is the 1st player listed 2nd choice is if 1st player gone. I am not a big Terrance Cody fan (so don’t cram the fatty down my throat), I think we need depth at LB and thought we should have been more active in FA to get 1(like Andra Davis or Larry Foote). Our current LB’s are ok for now but if Hughes falls to us with 2A pick I would consider.
1. S/Eric Berry
2A WR/Golden Tate or TE/WR Dorin Dickerson(will not get out of 2nd rd)
2B LT/Tony Washington or LT/Roger Saffold
3 NT/Linval Joseph or NT/Torrel Troup
4. Center Eric Olsen (knows Weis offense and can play Guard or Center)or WR/Jordan Shipley
5A OLB/ Brandon Sharpe or CB/FS Myron Lewis
5B ILB/Daryl Sharpton or DE/C.J Wilson
5C KR/WR Trindon Holliday or G/Thomas Austin
FYI for Dorin haters…draft and convert to WR
Dorin Dickerson, Pittsburgh
Height: 6-1. Weight: 226.
Projected 40 Time: 4.55.
Combine 40 Time: 4.40.
Benchx225: 24. Vertical: 43. Arm: 34.
Projected Round (2010): 2-3
3/20/10: Dorin Dickerson didn’t run at his Pro Day; he performed in the drills and looked very solid.
2/28/10: Mike Mayock gushed over Dorin Dickerson throughout the Saturday workouts, stating that Dickerson "can’t drop below the second round." Dickerson is a 225-pound tight end, but he’s a dynamic athlete (4.40 40, 43-inch vertical) and an underrated blocker.
If Okung taken 1st then my 2B pick becomes OLB/Ricky Sapp or ILB/Jamar Chaney and 5A,5B picks become 5A CB/FS Myron Lewis or CB/Crezdon Butler and
5B SS/ Barry Church or S/Harry Coleman
Would still like Chiefs to sign free agents CB/Lito Shepard S/Deon Grant & NT/Gerard Warren
These are all Starters and also provide depth at needed positions. They will not break the bank either. 2 year contracts for Warren and Grant and 3 year for Lito. Shaun Smith will not give us more than 8-10 starts at NT. Who is starting Safety with Page that is any good? If Berry chosen then he starts and Page platoons. Carr may be more of platoon player too, so Flowers and Lito Shepard as starting CB’s sounds better.
I dunno about Warren, though I had the same thought when he became available.
Apparently there’s a reason he went to Chokeland after a good career in SD, wasn’t it? And seems to be general lack of interest in him. I get the sense that he’s thought to be damaged goods, at this point.
But we need depth because Shaun Smith has never played more than 11 games in a season
So a little scared of who of any quality can take a NT position right now.
And I think there's reason Shepard isn't a Jet.
I think he was an exploitable weakness when he came in off the bench, and this hurt the Jets against Indy, in particular. Could be wrong.
Same thing..no good depth
If not Shepard then Ken Lucas but we need someone better than Carr at this point and Lito is still under 29 and best of FA available.Veteran leadership in secondary.
This is just killer work Chris
Thanks man!

hi, Mo!
5 minutes!!!
you want warren
and old man lito on this team stone? but you do not like brandon carr…..there are alot of teams out there that would jump at the chance for him..and we still have a young talented corner in washington as well.
saffold
might not make it out of the 1st rd now.
Chiefs72..They are not that old Warren 31..Shepard 28
Here are their ages. The point is to add depth and competition. Shaun Smith will not be the answer (11 games max ever played in a season)although he is a big body which is what we want in a NT. I consider Edwards a DT not a NT and Warren is 1 year older than Edwards with better numbers than Edwards ever had consistently. So do some research before making a statement like that. Although Lito is only 28 he has quite a few more years left because Pro Bowlers were ahead of him on depth charts and he doesn’t have as many starts as a normal 9 yr vet. So I trust him more than Carr and Carr can learn from him as well.
Gerard Warren | #61 | NT
Height: 6-4 Weight: 325 Age: 31
Lito Sheppard | #26 | CB
Height: 5-10 Weight: 194 Age: 28
SERVED!
No reports yet specifically saying that
I would assume that we have/will show heavy interest in him. We just haven’t heard about it yet.

Love the table..Great Job.
Thought would be more LB’s listed.. Def is going to be addressed early and often. I think the Don is already looking to 2011 draft to fill some key OL areas. He’s helped Weiss in FA, look for him to help Romeo in the draft.
