Eric Berry ran an unofficial 4.46 with his first 40 yard dash and an unofficial 4.40 with his second one, very impressive.

What would Mike Brown run on his 40 time right about now?
Regardless of who the Chiefs pick at #5 overall, Whitlock will call it the worst pick in the history of the Chiefs. Heres to hoping that #5 pick runs Whitlock out of town.....
on Scout.com
When he came out of HS it said his 40 time was 4.3.
The guy has field speed, which is more important then straight line speed… which he has too.
Man crush on Eric Berry.
Those times are usually poorly validated
Usually they’re hand-timed by sympathetic coaches, or sometimes even self-reported—which means the site went with whatever the player himself said he ran.

I think Haden blew his Top 10 slot
with his poor 40

He plays faster than that unofficial 40 would indicate, relative to others' unofficial 40s
Speed is one area where I wouldn’t be particularly concerned about Haden. I think what should keep him from being a top-five pick, and possibly even from being a top-ten guy, is his ball awareness. He doesn’t make plays on the ball like I’d want to see from a guy I’m hoping to snag with the #5-overall pick, like Woodson and Bailey did.

I was kind of hoping Berry was going to have a bad combine
That way we could trade back a few spots and still puck him up. Pioli already said he puts little stock in the combine.

regardless of combine stats
Berry performed great his 3 years at Tennessee.
We need to draft Eric Berry, no if's / and's or buts about it!!!!
Speed isn't the area that stops guys like Berry from playing corner
I just think he’s a thousand times better when the play is in front of him, which is the chief separation between guys who are more suitable for safety.

The suspense is killing me...
April 22nd is too freaking far away.
My sentiments are likely to be summed up with one of these 2 quotes:

Yah it is too far away...always has been...
Since the powers that be have no problem splitting the combine up into 3 days…I have a suggestion.
I think that 1-5 pick should go in March and the beginning of April. Like a week or two after the combine start picking a player once a week until the draft. Like every friday. That way it would slick our appetites until the draft.

BTW,
NFL.com has free live coverage of the combine on the front page, if anyone is interested. Taylor Mays is running the 40 now.

Unofficial 4.24 40.
Talk about a freak!!!
That dude “unofficially” set a new combine record.

Doubt that unofficial time stands
But he is a heck of an athlete. If only he could play in a league where they just did 40s and jumps!

Yeah.
The guy is a freakish athlete. I knew he was big and all, but seeing him in the combine spandex I was like “damn that dude is cut”.
Wouldn’t mind seeing him as a Chief, but not so much that I would spend the #5 overall on him. Maybe we’ll trade back and get him and another good value pick? I wouldn’t at all be upset with that.

I think he'd be a more athletic Reggie Tongue
Always hunting heads, never bothering with fundamentals or coverage. I think Mays would be lost if he had to start within his first year or two, and even after that, it would depend on how receptive he ends up being to the coaching. Of course, I said something similar about Dunta Robinson, so I could be wrong, but with DR is was more because he was raw, not wildly undisciplined. Remember, Mays has had top-notch college coaching at USC. He should’ve picked up some football know-how by now.

Good points, and I agree.
I’m not at all saying that Mays should be on our list, I’m just saying that raw athleticism like that is always welcome, IMO. Especially for a 6’3" 230 lb head hunter.
In all reality though, it’s a moot point because I think Taylor Mays just grabbed the attention of Al Davis. Poor bastard.

Seriously
I’ll be surprised if the Raiders don’t draft this guy.
He has a lot of potential upside, but I wouldn’t want to risk a pick in the first two rounds on him. The team needs too many sure things to be taking chances like that early.
Predictions:
This year will be better
43' inch vert!?
That’s nasty.

why is this safety so fast yet...
only 2 int’s? did he drop alot or what? Very strange. That’s the type of guy that needs to be watched on game tapes. I’d take him with 2a.

Looks like Mays' 4.24 was even further off than I thought
When I saw the 4.24, I though, hey, that’ll probably adjust to maybe a 4.35 officially. But it ended up being a 4.43, which is still pretty fast for the combine surface, but not superhuman. Still, I don’t think anyone would argue that his weaknesses have very little to do with athletic ability, so all he can do is make people forget about those massive gameday deficiencies.
