Spikes will be test case on importance of forty times
Spikes is known as an instinctive, tough player. He's a classic inside linebacker for 3-4 teams, and there aren't a lot out there.
Before the forty time came out, the general consensus was that Spikes was roughly an early second round pick. We've now heard he could slip as late as rounds 4-5. ESPN's Todd McShay said Thursday Spikes could still go in round two or three.
A league source says Spikes met with Mike Tomlin and the Steelers staff Tuesday, and Bill Belichick Thursday, so the 3-4 teams are interested

I'm not a HUGE fan of his...
and I have been critical of his eye-gouginess
BUT… if he’s sitting there in the 4th round and KC hasn’t drafted an ILB yet…
I’d take him and run
* KC now has the best coaching staff in the league
* 9-7 is a real possibility in 2010 IF the Chiefs get 4 new starters
* KC will NOT draft a LT in the first round, and the draft WILL be heavy on defense
hell yea
ive watched his whole collegiate career, and I am a fan. That forty time is bothersome, but if he is there even in the 3rd, I say we jump on it. He’s and instinctive, explosive LB. He can ever cover.

this is hilarious
an ILB is not someone who you expect to be a speed demon. speed is nice just as it is with any position, but it’s not a deal breaker if his 40 time is over 4.3. I’ve thought we should avoid drafting Rolando McClain ONLY because spikes would be available at 2a. McClain – cody – spikes would be a ridiculous run on talent if spikes slips down the board
Well when u got
Patrick Willis, Beason, Ryans, Dansby, Lewis, Urlacher, etc…coming into the league running 4.5-4.6, its what people hold as the bench mark

I still cant get over that 40 time.
Ive seen out of shape high school girls run 5 flat before which is better than him. I’m not so sure I would take him until round 5. A guy I like who gets less attention is Micah Johnson from Kentucky.
Hi. My big board for our first rounder is:
1. Russell Okung, OT
2. Eric Berry, S
3. Rolondo McClain, ILB
4. Brian Bulaga, OT
5. Dan Williams, NT
