Chiefs Work Out Hillsdale's OT Jared Veldheer
The Kansas City Chiefs have been keeping an eye on prospects at large schools as well as small schools and that includes D-II Hillsdale College.
Last week, Bill Muir, Chiefs offensive line coach, worked out Jared Veldheer.
A 6'8", 312 pound offensive tackle, Veldheer posted some solid numbers at the NFL Combine last month.
Veldheer was one of the most impressive offensive linemen prospects to work out Saturday. He was a top performer in just about every category, and he measured in at 6-foot-8 and 312 pounds with 33-inch arms.
The day before the Chiefs worked him out, the Rams did (who are five selections ahead of the Chiefs in every round). After the Chiefs, the Eagles worked him out.
The Hillsdale pro day is today so I imagine the Chiefs will be taking a closer look once again.
NFL Draft Scout rates him as the ninth best tackle in the draft and projected to go in the 2nd-3rd round.

This is the kind of stuff that makes the NFL exciting~
You never know what hidden gems are out there aye?
Hillsdale
When I was going to college at Universität Würzburg in Germany, we had a few other American students there as well, all from Hillsdale. At first I thought it was just this group of kids that had this very weird sociopolitical ideology, but man, the more people I’ve met from there, the more apparent it is that these were the rule, not exceptions. It’s a very, very weird culture there.

So, nice measurables. How’s his football play?

apparantly his play is good enough that he's getting a lot of looks from a lot of teams

hi, Mo!
5 minutes!!!
6'8"?
Do we want Cassel throwing the ball over that? I guess with a few of these size players, the shotgun gets alot more popular.
Brown is 6'8" isn't he?

QB's don't really throw the ball over guys like that
They throw around them. Jon Ogden is 6’8". Jared Gaither is doing pretty well in Baltimore, and he’s 6’9". Robert Gallery (6’7", which is enormous for a guard) and Joe Thomas (6’6") are both pretty tall.
6’5" is the new 6’3". Anything shorter seems to start making teams project a guy as a guard. I think the standard LT size is going to be 6’6"-6’7" for a few years, and eventually even bigger. Jason Peters is something of an anomaly, as he’s a mere 6’4".

That is kinda my point
He is tall enough to be an obstruction. Peyton is 6’6" and the pundits say that part of his success comes from the fact that he is one of the few starting QBs that actually throws the ball ‘down’ to his receivers. I dunno, just a thought.
Peyton's more like 6'4"-6"5"
Anyway, my point is that tall tackles are part of the game. It’s not a negative.

Plus it's not like
these guys are standing upright. They won’t be overshadowing a defensive end putting his hand up in the air by any means.
Jeez 6’8 is tall
Is that too tall? Wouldnt DEs get leverage on him? And wow, only 33’ arms?

yea, kinda short arms i think
maybe RT?, meh, what do I know.

Snap the fucking ball Brodie!
and no, I dont mean we should replace o'call
I just think if he is a good value that slides, we would always consider tackle depth.

I wouldn't mind if we used our 2B pick on a guy like this.
He could be our swing tackle, or even our right tackle if he outperforms o’cal
