Don’t read too much into the fact that Crennel was running the drill. NFL coaches running pro-day drills are normal. However, it is relevant that Crennel was at the pro day. There are pro days all over the country. Kansas City sending Crennel to watch Berry up close shows the team’s interest in him.

The Crennel-Berries smell like Crennel-Berries!

...And as the roar of 80,000 red-clad great plains warriors fills the hallowed halls of Arrowhead, it will strike fear into the hearts of lesser men. For on that field, individual men toil for something greater than individual honors. They toil as brothers-in-arms, as 53 spirits striving towards a single purpose and driven by a single goal: The glory that comes with vanquishing your foes. They will achieve their birthright, they will be champions.

Not to rain on the Berry parade, but.....

LOL, don't get me wrong...

I am not saying I don’t want to see Berry picked with #5. To honest, I don’t even really care what position is filled. To me, #5 needs to be an impact player SOMEWHERE. Whether it is at LB, S, WR, QB, or even LT (which is my least favorite pick), I just want to look back in a year or two and say, “Yeah, that was a really good pick!” I remember a Gretz article a week or two ago discussing all the deceptions NFL teams try to use to waste other organizations’ time (which I think, by the way, that AJ Smith said he’d let Sproles go quietly and then tendered him). I’m just wondering out loud about the possibility that KC’s pick at 5 might be Williams.

by whoadog on Mar 17, 2010 11:11 PM CDT up reply actions

yea, I understand.

I personally think that IF berry is still there when we pick, that he will be the biggest impact player available. I think this draft has a handful of talented DTs and could possible become NTs, and I think there are a handful of talented safeties, then there’s Eric Berry. I just believe that there is a more signaficant uptick in talent and impact between EB and all the other safeties than there is between Williams and the rest of the DTs that could be NTs.

I would perfer Dan Williams

NT > S

While the Smith signing is a stop gap, we still need a young stud NT to solidify our front 3. Drafting Dan Williams will not only shore up our D-Line with young 1st round draft picks (Just like Scott “The Don” Pioli likes to do), but it will also keep Denver from picking him up. (I do NOT want to have to play AGINST Dan Willimas 2 times every year).

by DivineGrace on Mar 17, 2010 9:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Hes way overrated and a late 1st round pick at best.

He got pushed around alot this season and doesnt scream NT to me. When Mount Cody will be going within 1/2 dozen picks of Williams I’d rather have him.

I've been on

an emotional Berry roller coaster lately.

This is how my confidence in us getting him has been:

4 Weeks Ago: C
3-2weeks Ago: B-
1 Week Ago: A-
Yesterday: C+
Today: B

So emotional… just get him already. My heart can’t take this. I love you Eric!!!

hahahaha, so what will it take to go up to a B plus, or down to a B minus?

I actually didnt think of the dan williams connection, and am starting to REALLY believe hes who we’re interested in.

It's damn near impossible to know what Pioli is thinking...

And the bad thing is?

It will only get worse as draft time draws closer. Much, much worse.

by Scott B. on Mar 17, 2010 9:07 PM CDT up reply actions

i wonder if Big C told berry to shut down his drills

too keep other teams from seeing him too much.

…i don’t really believe this just an interesting thought that came through my head.

Seriously mates, when have I ever been sarcastic?

Oh and in case you were wondering, that hug offer is still there when you are ready UC :p

BUT HE SAID WE DEFINITELY WOULDNT TAKE HIM!

by RedCoater58 on Mar 17, 2010 9:16 PM CDT reply actions

yea, because he knows

I’m not dogging peter king too bad, because he’s not a bad guy about this kind of stuff as far as I know, but One Arrowhead Dr. is super-lockdown, especially regarding the draft. Just like my little mock-drafts, logic arguments, and observed patterns, its all conjecture.

It wont be washington but maybe tampa.

Washington has done this top 10 safety thing before and I highly doubt thats where shanahan will go. Tampa may though and it wouldnt shock me but again not a huge loss because if that happens then Suh or McCoy drop to us. The only way suh, mccoy or berry isnt there for us is if St. Louis doesnt take a QB and that scenario is still a win for us because then we get in the mix for trade down. Its a win, win, win situation.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.
Don’t read too much into the fact that Crennel was running the drill

Okay… as a Chiefs fan I won’t look into the fact that our new Defense coordinator decided out of all the colleges in the country to go to Tenn and RUN the practice for one of the top tier players that most of KC nation is obsessed with and could potentially be drafted by the Chiefs according to Kiper, McShay, and Lombardi.

I won’t look into the fact that somehow Romeo was the lucky one to get to run the drills for him. Even though other teams are waiting in line for this guy, it was Romeo who ran the show for him. I won’t look into that fact at all. That he probably had to drop some names just to make sure he was the one running the drill for an area in which we for sure need help in.

Are you f’n kidding me!?!?!

Hell ya I’m going to look into this. I much rather see a post that Romeo was working out Eric Berry then Charlie Weiss was working out that OT from Iowa. I much rather here the Romeo was working out the guy I want the Chiefs to get who is a blue-chip prospect compared to him working out Derrick Morgan or Jason Pierre-Paul or insert name.

This was tactical and this was intentional. Pioli and mob have been drawing up the big board and this guy as at the top. That’s why the first time we hear one of our Bigger name coaches doing a 1 on 1 work out w/ a guy was Romeo freakin’ Crennel working out my man crush Eric Berry.

The only logical explanation for this post by Bill Williamson was that Pioli put a gun to this guys head and told him to write a dang smoke screen blog post to through off the rest of the teams around 2-7 in the draft.

…I think I am gong to now go take a bubble bath with Berry scented soap bubbles. This got me worked up.

Conspiracy theory here.

What if Crennell got Berry to stage a “fake toe injury” so they wouldn’t take him before us? There is obviously some rapport being built between Berry and several members of the Chiefs. If the other teams like Tampa and Washington think he may be prone to injury, maybe they will hesitate to take him so early? Then we can snatch him up with our 5th pick.

There would have to be a lot of man love between Berry and Crennell

for Berry to damage his career, credibility, and most of all, earn less money.
