Around SBN: Hugh Douglas Admits To Stealing From Jaguars

Jerome Mathis

Hey guys my first post here!! This is such a great site, it's addicting.

Well anyway i just wanted to see what everyone thinks about Jerome Mathis? He could be a possible low key pick up with huge dividends. Sounds like a Pioli move to me? He has the speed to take it to the house anytime he touches the ball. ( Regestering a 4.28 second fourty ).

Although he was out of the NFL last season he is still young, and has talent. Earning special teams player of the year and making the Pro Bowl his rookie year in 2005. Taking it to the house twice. Also the all time leading returner in college history. We could pick him up pretty cheap, and give us just that much more options in the draft. Well AP'ers let me know what you think, thanks.

GO CHIEFS!!!!

I think we resolve our slot receiver and punt returner problem by killing two birds with one stone. We are going to draft Andre Roberts, the WR from the Citadel.

1. Suh will fall to us at 5
2. McClain will fall to us at 2a
3. The Chiefs will trade DJ and keep Dorsey

did he have some serious off the field issue or something?

* KC now has the best coaching staff in the league
* 9-7 is a real possibility in 2010 IF the Chiefs get 4 new starters
* keep Albert at LT, upgrade the positions that NEED upgrading.C, RG, NT, S, LB

I love the underdog always. It would be a great story. But there aren't that many great stories.

He is a major risk. He is injury prone. Or he’s a whiner who won’t play thru injuries electing instead to collect a paycheck for nothing. Plus his arrest is a huge bad for him.

If your a Brandon Marshall and u get arrested, you can expect a little forgiveness. But when your a constantly injured non -reliable player, you need to REALLY watch your off field antics. He isn’t very smart for that move.

You never know. He’a a high risk, high reward possiblity. Intriguing.

Good first post. Keep on posting. I’ll give this a rec for a first time post. I love your excitement. Thanks.

Offense is better, now to fix the defense...

Just a thought, how bout we pick up Haden at 5 and Mays in the second round. If not Mays then Spikes, or Weatherspoon. That would be a upgrade on both sides of the ball and economically efficient..

I used to always sign that guy in Madden and dominate on kick returns.

I’m guessing he would have less awesome results in real life.

Come on Pioli, I always have the Chiefs go undefeated and win the Super Bowl in the second year of the rebuild in Madden (and on All Madden level too). I’m sure it’s just as easy in real life. :-)

yea, its a shame Madden isn't real life

then you could dominate with a team at 68 overall. Plus you don’t have to deal with off the field drama.

I remember hoping KC would take Mathis, and was freakin upset when Houston took him...

But haven’t heard anything about him since his stellar rookie year.

Opinions are like A--holes, everyones got one.

Injuries

He even got cut from the CFL due to never being able to stay healthy…and nobody wants a guy who beat his pregnant girlfriend.

Mathis allegedly pushed Erica Smith, 26, onto a bed during an argument in their home in the 3600 block of Tumbling Falls at about 11 p.m. Friday, Foreman said. The couple apparently discussed a cell-phone battery charger before the incident, he said.

"She reported that he came home verbally aggressive toward her and left the residence, then came back a few minutes later demanding his car charger," Foreman said. "He became angry while he looked for the charger, and when she gave it to him, he pushed her down on the bed and began choking her while putting all of his body weight on her."

Mathis is 6-1, 195 pounds and Smith is 5-10, 145 pounds, according to a police report. Smith told Mathis she was calling the police before he left the home in a vehicle, according to the report. Alcohol apparently was involved, the report states.

When officers arrived at the home late Friday, they saw a red mark on Smith’s neck just below her jawbone, Foreman said.
