Overtime changes coming? (Updated)
The current NFL overtime has been subject to several controversies over the year. Many would like to see a college style where both teams get one possession. Some would like to see it remain the way it is and has been in the NFL for years. With the NFL owners meeting next week in Florida the topic will once again be raised concerning Overtime as it usually is. More after the jump
Here is a link from Clark Judge as CBSSports.com concerning one overtime change: Moving the Kickoff up
Here is a wire report from CBS sports writers concerning overtime but with a different twist: Two possession Overtime
(New Link Updated) Here is a new link from Dan Graziano over at Fanhouse covering lots of good info: NFL to vote on OT changes
(New Link Updated) This is in from NFL.com via the Associated Press: Owners to vote on OT changes
If i had my choice i would keep the Overtime rules in the NFL the same as they are now. I just like the suspense attached to only one possession. I know several people have verying opinions on this such as people who follow college more than that NFL. Some would call it different strokes for different folks. My main thought here is are the owners going to budge? Each year they have meetings and this is always a hot topic.
So what do you think AP?

I think
they’re considering changing ONLY for the playoffs.
Team A has the ball and they score a field goal, Team A has to score a TD to win. If Team A scores a TD on the 1st possesion, then Team B needs a TD to keep the game going… And so on and so forth.
I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.
but?
Say team A is intercepted for a TD by team B, does team A then get a second possession?
Blame my wife!
Waiting until August 2010
That I do not know....
But that’s a hell of a question… If I were the one to make that decision, and that was what happened, Team B wins the game straight up.

My understanding
is that Team B gets the ball if and only if Team A either doesn’t score or only scores a fieldgoal. If they score a TD, gameover. So does that mean if Team B doesnt score after team A scored a fieldgoal team A wins?

Yes, that's how I took it.
So if team B goes well in that case a 4 and out then team A wins with just the field goal.

I say leave it at sudden death
And eliminate the coin toss. Put the ball on the 50, let each team line up one guy at their 40, and blow the whistle, whoever gets the ball, gets the ball. The only cool thing that I saw in the XFL.
I agree...
they should come up with a competition to see who gets the ball first. I think it should be an Oklahoma drill or something like that.

what about the cameras
some of those dynamic camera angles came from XFL. The camera’s that run on the network of wires suspended above the field, that was cool too.

i dont really like the camera angles sometimes
i like the idea of changing the coin toss to something else though. Just dont know about the tickle fight idea, that wouldnt go over to well :)
Regardless of who the Chiefs pick at #5 overall, Whitlock will call it the worst pick in the history of the Chiefs. Heres to hoping that #5 pick runs Whitlock out of town.....

they might injure their hands banging their fists into their palms that many times.

Ask Senator Massa
He will show you. Apparently he has them with his male staff members all the time.

Lol...
the funniest part of that whole ordeal was when he told the press to go talk to his navy buddies. He said they would vouch for him. Anyway, they said he used to ask his navy buddies if they wanted one his special Massa massages. Another guy said Massa climbed on to his top bunk, unbuckled his pants, and tried to “snorkel” him.

He had forever ruined my dreams of what a "tickle fight" should be...
now all I have left is my dreams of what a “pillow fight” should be. I hope no politicians take that one from me. Its all I have left.

Same guy, all criminals. There really isnt too much of a difference anymore between Sen. and Reps, now that they are all popularly elected rather than Sen. being chosen by the state legislatures.

I've been 'round...
I’m a peeper these days. Because I watch absolutely NO college ball, it’s hard for me to keep up on most of the draft talk & whatnot. And there’s the fact that I can barely keep up on all things “Chiefs” and rarely do I keep up on the rest of the NFL as far as how good other players are, so knowing what’s up with FA is hard for me too. I do read everything so I am learning :) But I generally keep my trap shut when I don’t know what I’m talkin about.
You’ve never tickled someone til they peed Craig? LOL

why?
is it just because you prefer college style football? I have always preferred NFL to college football and i think i would stick with the one possession. Just wondering the difference in opinions.

To prevent a field goal..
Defense needs to step up for the team to prevent them from driving down the field. To me both teams already have a chance. Defense can intercept or cause a turnover just as easily as the other team getting a touchdown or field goal.
