Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have released offensive lineman Shawn Andrews.

Twitter: Adam Schefter

Three time Pro Bowler at right guard, cut by the Eagles after battling depression in 2008 and injuring his back and being on the I.R. for all of 2009.

Mr. Pioli, provided that he can be signed for the vet minimum and no guaranteed money, I have found your next target.

maybe if he slides over and battles with

O’Call for RT i wouldnt suggest bringing him in. If he was already depressed on a winning team how would he feel coming to a losing team that is on the upswing.

Regardless of who the Chiefs pick at #5 overall, Whitlock will call it the worst pick in the history of the Chiefs. Heres to hoping that #5 pick runs Whitlock out of town.....

No way Jose.....

A right guard with a back problem and depression issues is a guy who should be left alone to retire. He offers nothing that the Chiefs want or need. It’s like buying a 12 would be more like signing year old car, even after seeing the Fax Report that shows inconsistent odometer readings and multiple wrecks, but you buy it anyway, and sure enough, the first week, there’s parts flying all over the street. He’s had some glory days, but, so did the car. In my opinion, the risk is too high.

Depends on how serious the back ailment is.

I think KC’s training staff is pretty smart about how they treat the big men. The fatties don’t like it, at first, but they play at closer to peak condition and I think that nagging injuries have a way of going away.

They don’t LIKE wearing knee braces in practice and they don’t LIKE all the running, but at the right weight, the running doesn’t break ’em down nearly as much as keeping them on the field ’til midnight because a Marty-type coach insists they get something right, before sending everybody home.

A person battling depression shouldn't be an issue...

in fact, battling it is better than not acknowledging you have a problem at all.

I dunno about vet minimum, either.

I think if you’re willing to hire a guy, you don’t lowball him, especially when you’re sitting at or near the bottom of the league with your salary.

Pioli can afford to treat guys at the lower/journeyman end better than the rest of the league does. It costs little to generate goodwill on the “Let’s take a flier” guys, and there’s lots of potential upside to these players.

I bet...

he goes to Denver.

1. Suh will fall to us at 5
2. McClain will fall to us at 2a
3. The Chiefs will trade DJ and keep Dorsey

From another site
I live in Eagles country and there is no bigger pussy in pro sports than this guy. After being coddled all off-season, he reported to training camp late, overweight and, within a couple days, supposedly hurt.

For instance, the Eagles signed his bro, Stacy, last year, chiefly to comfort and motivate him through his depression issues, but that wasn’t enough to get him to play. Instead he was busy posting rap videos onto YouTube. This guy is talented, one of the best when he wants to be, but is only worth the minimum. Dude be stealin cake.
