Chiefs Well Represented At Pro Days
The Kansas City Chiefs scouts and other personnel folks are hitting pro day after pro day it seems. Just today, we've learned reps from the club attended at least three pro days (and likely more).
Chris Steuber of Scout.com reports the Chiefs were one of 29 teams represented at the Georgia pro day today.
The Chiefs were also at the Pittsburgh pro day.
Interestingly, two of the three teams that didn't attend (Denver and Miami) are 3-4 teams so maybe this was an offensive player. And if it was an offensive player, then that's probably Dorin Dickerson, among others.
The Chiefs have reportedly been interested in Dickerson.
The Chiefs were also represented at the Toledo pro day today.
For Toledo, a quick Google search brings up SS Barry Church and a pretty big receiver.
All kinds of teams were there like the Browns, Steelers, Lions, Panthers, Dolphins, Colts, Saints, Ravens, Packers, Bengals, Jets and Vikings.

Stephen Williams out of Toldeo is an interesting prospect
Here’s a pretty good highlight video of him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehMxI_i61xE
At 6’5 he makes for a good red zone target and seems to have pretty good speed. Anyone know when he’s expected to be drafted?
What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left.
He probably wouldn't be a bad pick up after the draft then
He could be a low risk acquisition with a good upside

Pioli seems to be keeping his word.
He always said that the one thing he promised KC Fans is that he would work hard to make the Chiefs a winner. I can’t say that I have any reason to doubt him.
Consistency is only a value if you are not a screw up.
Do-everything players often seem to appeal to the Parcells/Belichick/Pioli cabal
I remember one year when they drafted both Dave Thomas and Garrett Mills, who were extremely productive but undersized TEs for Texas and Tulsa respectively. I remember another year when they took lil’ Klecko. They really don’t seem to mind taking guys who don’t fit the profile of any one position exactly.

Completely agree
“Versatility” is a word that comes up often with all those guys.

Would love Dorin Dickerson with 2B pick use as WR! 1.Okung 2A Pauncey
Key Free Agents To Look At!
NT/Gerard Warren to provide competition and possibly start over Shaun Smith(who has missed alot of games over the years).
Safety Gibril Wilson(since Sean Jones is gone) to provide veteran leadership and depth in secondary.
OLB/Joey Porter(provides better pass rush than Vrabel) or Pisa Tinoisamoa to start over Vrabel(who is getting old) and provide depth/competition
If they trade DJ (Which I hope they don’t) then get ILB/Akin Ayodele or Antonio Pierce
Get CB/ Lito Shepard,NT/Gerard Warren and OLB/Joey Porter
So get at least 2 of these guys and we are ready for the draft to fill in missing parts, which after these pickups is the following.
LT,slot WR,CB,C,Safety,TE and NT’s of future.
Pretty Wild that I picked Barry Church as 1 of our 5th rd picks in an earlier mock draft.
My Mock Draft.
1. LT/Okung
2A. C/Pauncey
2B. TE convert to WR Dorin Dickerson
3. Send to Chicago for TE/Greg Olsen
4. NT/Torrel Troup or Linval Joseph
5A WR/Marcus Easley or Jordan Shipley
5B ILB/Darryl Sharpton
5C S Barry Church
if this was our draft
I would go into a very deep depression and become a rams fan. Yeah its that terrible

Why?
Okung and Pouncy would be good value where they’re listed in that mock draft, and Troup and Shipley would be unbelievable steals. Dickerson might be a bit of a reach, but getting Olsen for a third-round pick wouldn’t be a bad deal.

Because
This draft does absolutely nothing for our defense. Okung will be gone for one. Pouncey will be gone, and we don’t need Olsen wasted pick. This mock improves our team and is realistic:
1. Eric Berry
2. Jerry Hughes
2. Jon Asamoah
3. Torell Troup
4. JD Walton
5. Micah Johnson
5. Trevard Lindley
5. Freddie Barnes
This makes our team 10 times better.

You're saying they'll be gone, but...
Berry, Hughes, Asamoah, Troup, Johnson, and Lindley look like they could be gone before where you have them. But part of evaluating a scenario like yours or Matt Stone’s is that one makes the assumption that the players listed will even be there. If you think Okung and Pouncey will both be gone before Matt Stone has KC taking them, well, fine, but it’s equally valid to say that Berry and those others will be gone before where you have KC taking them. I think it’s fair to suspend that point and evaluate whether the players themselves would be a good idea. Your other point, which is that Matt’s draft doesn’t do anything for the defense, is much more valid IMO. Troup, Sharpton, and Church wouldn’t represent much of a dedication to improving the defense, so I agree to an extent. But it’s also true that your draft scenario doesn’t really do anything for the offense, except for Asamoah, who probably won’t beat out Waters or Lilja anytime soon, and Walton, who probably won’t beat out Wiegmann the first year.

Walton and Asamoah
Wouldn’t need to start the first year. And I absolutely agree with you that all the players we both went for could be gone when we have us picking. Its a moot point. but assuming they were all there in both drafts I feel that the mock I made would improve our team the most all around.

To be honest, I'd rather go defense-heavy than offense-heavy
I think the offense could lean a little on the crutch of a couple of decent receivers and a couple of capable running backs. I think as long as the OL is better (Lilja and Weigmann should help, but I’d like some young middle-round depth that could develop, as you mock-drafted for KC), your method of drafting almost entirely on defense should be the way to go. My only issue with that is the question of whether Haley is likely to agree, since he’s the HC and comes from an offensive background.

Biig_C..I did address defense with free agent pick ups and 3 draft picks.
Look above the draft post. CB/Lito Shepard addresses a much needed CB for 2-3 years, NT/Gerard Warren buys 2-3 years and much needed competition with Shaun Smith(who may play 8-10 games if we are lucky), and Joey Porter upgrades OLB for at least 2 years (+better than Vrabel).Keep in mind no ones draft is perfect because everyone places values on players different than others. I used walterfootball as my basis and felt it was not out of line. In my mock I drafted Okung because of obvious reasons and he may still fall to us. I selected 2A Pauncey based on a huge need for best Center and where I have seen him in most mock drafts (do not feel mine is far off where he will go). I know you think my 2B Dorin Dickerson pick is a reach but based on what I have read about the guy and Mike Mayock saying he won’t get out of the 2nd rd, that is where he goes on my draft(check his combine and career stats) the guy is really a big WR and should be converted to that. My 3rd rd pick is traded to Chicago for TE/Greg Olsen which would give Cassel another legitimate weapon in our system of uncertain weapons(you cannot tell me that we do not need a TE).4th rd I have taking NT’s Torrel Troup or Linval Joseph (again addressing our defense) 5A WR’s Easley or Shipley who should fall a bit based on speed.5B ILB Sharpton (addresses defense again) and may replace Williams or Johnson in future. 5C Barry Church (addresses defense again) and may be immediate starter. Chiefs have already expressed interest in Dorin Dickerson and Church and Church may go in the 4th rd based on that.
If I changed my mock a little based on taking Berry 1st this is how it would look.
1. S/Eric Berry
2A WR/Golden Tate or LT/Charles Brown
2B LT/Tony Washington or NT/Cam Thomas
3 sent to Chicago for TE/Greg Olsen who is a huge upgrade to current TE’s
4. Center Eric Olsen (knows Weis offense and can play Guard or Center)
5A WR/ Marcus Easley or CB/FS Myron Lewis
5B ILB/Daryl Sharpton or DE/C.J Wilson
5C KR/WR Trindon Holliday or G/Thomas Austin
Biig C I would not even consider Asamoah with that high of a pick, and would not even draft your last 3 picks….so your 1,2A,3,4 would be ok. and is no more realistic than the next guys mock. Plus you didn’t address the biggest issue we have and that is a LT…are you kidding?!
So based on my initial Mock...this would be my starters with 3 Free Agents I picked
Defense
CB, Lito Shepard| FS, Jarrad Page | SS, Barry Church | CB, Brandon Flowers
OLB, Tamba Hali | ILB,Demario Williams | ILB, Derrick Johnson | OLB,Joey Porter
DE, Glenn Dorsey | NT, Gerard Warren | DE, Tyson Jackson
Offense
LOT,Russel Okung | LG, Brian Waters | C, Casey Weigman | RG, Brandon Albert | ROT, Ryan O’Callahan
WR, Dwayne Bowe | WR, Chris Chambers | WR, Jordan Shipley | TE, Eric Olsen
QB, Matt Cassel | RB, Jamaal Charles/Thomas Jones | FB, Mike Cox
Special Teams
P, Dustin Colquitt | K, Ryan Succop | PR, Dorin Dickerson | KR, Dorin Dickerson
**Don’t think Lilja beats out Albert for RG,Weigman plays a year tutoring Pauncey, Dickerson barely misses starting over Chambers and Daryl Sharpton pushes Williams but becomes starter next year.
I would love these as my starters with great depth behind them. Safety would be my only question mark but would feel comfortable with Page and Church (that is why I wanted Sean Jones before he was signed yesterday).
