Must See: Jamaal Charles Highlight Reel. He Ain't "Average".

If anyone can watch the following, and then tell me with a clear conscience, that they STILL think Jamaal is "average", I will kiss their ass in Walmart's window.  I'm over 50 and have seen a lot of NFL backs dating back to the league's inception.  OJ Simpson, Eric Dickerson, LaDanian, LJ,, Barry Sanders, etc., the list is long,  but I've never seen a highlight reel from any RB that illustrates the rare combination of balance, agility, speed, awareness, and overall raw talent and potential of the guy in this video.  We should be glad he's a Chief, and not a Raider, and I am.  If you can find a better RB highlight reel, please send me the link, I'd love to see it.

http://chiefsinformer.com/804/chiefs-player-highlight-reels/

Hopefully, I'll get to enjoy this guy running for the Chiefs in the Superbowl....some day.

Can Jamaal Charles become the NFL's premier RB?
Most definitely, just wait until he plays a full season.

Yes, but it's gonna take some more coaching.

Maybe, I can't decide if he's going to be durable enough.

Probably not, I've seen the reel, and I'm not impressed.

Hell no, he couldn't hold Eric Dickerson's jock strap.

Before the season I thought Charles was just a small speed back

but he sure did prove me wrong. The first defender rarely tackles him, he has superb vision, and his balance is ridiculous (that last long run against the Broncos for example).
I don’t know if he’ll be the best RB in the NFL next season, but I do know he’ll be one of the best

What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left.

I don't think B. Waters is the huge stud a lot still make him out to be,

I think he’s pretty much average over the last couple years, but I LOVE the TD run against the chargers, about 2:30 in, where he blocks 2 guys out of the play at once. Those are some of my favorite highlights ever, when during some good run you can see a lineman get to the second or third level and just pancake multiple defenders along the way. LOVE IT! cracks me up.

Like Macintosh against Miami?

Still love it, even if he wasn’t good

The greatest Brian Waters moment was when he broke Ray Lewis' nose on Monday Night Football.

ABC had Lewis miced up for the game and by the end of it he was SILENT. Waters made Lewis his bitch that night.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

Chambers at about 4:00

look at how quickly he closes in on Charles and the poor buffalo defender at the end of that run. THAT is some speed as well. jeez.

Speed

What amazes me is the he runs and speeds through traffic and while cutting, stoping, juking, how fast he remains and/or hoq quicker he gets, simply astonishing

Someone is paying attention.

So true. I know you watched the reel.

Hitting small holes

What shocked me was the holes he was going through were so small, and yet the defenders just couldn’t raise their arms before he had zipped past them. JC is simply amazing.

The run against Denver at the end of the tape how sweet was that.

Starting to get excited for this coming season. Imagine J.C and T.J in the backfield at the same time, that’s going to be tough for any “D” to work out, who do you cover. mauhahaha
Cassel probably a very happy man right now, and after the draft……… look out AFC west.
I think we might have a sleeper team in the making, right now.

Nice Vid

Charles is an exciting back with a lot of POTENTIAL. Comparing him to Sanders, Sayers, Simpson or Dickerson is Ludicrous at this point.

The most important thing you can do in life is help other people.

by dklogue1 on Mar 14, 2010 3:33 PM CDT reply actions

I don't think so.

The comparison is to their first 8 full games in the NFL. Show me better highlights from anyones first 8 and I’ll buy you tickets to the next Chiefs playoff game.

by TheK-man on Mar 14, 2010 5:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Cant find first 8 games video, but here's some highlights

W.Payton never missed a game over his career, and was the most complete back ever IMO.

Looked his stats up

First 7 games started 679 yards 3.7 avg 7 td’s, and lots of fumbles early in his career. Payton for his size delivered the blow more than he took it. When i was small( meaning 5th grade) i remember getting a orange and black 34 t-shirt,and when i put it on i was the man himself. Great times back then going to the playground, and playing Football with the friends.

Charles vs. Sweetness:

Come to think of it, he does remind me more of Payton than just about anyone else has.

by TheK-man on Mar 15, 2010 9:50 AM CDT up reply actions

We can tell...

that he has matured a lot as a runner. His vision of seeing a hole and immediately hitting it. This guy might be better than Chris Johnson after seeing him stay upright against the Broncos despite that heavy open field tackle attempt. He looks like a cross between Ray Rice and Chris Johnson.

1. Suh will fall to us at 5
2. McClain will fall to us at 2a
3. The Chiefs will trade DJ and Dorsey

Yeah J.C

Just doesn’t take to many big hits, he has a way of just taking glancing blows, like M.Allen

by CPT.Caveman on Mar 14, 2010 8:26 PM CDT up reply actions

jamaal do it all charles has great vision, speed, accel, balance/agility, can catch...

hes about everything you want from a RB…

hes a star, period.

Scott Pioli will find a way to make NT the biggest offseason priority.
KC Will Trade Derrick Johnson

the last highlight against denver just shows what JC is capable of...

and he is just starting to scratch his potential.. If he can learn to hang onto the ball he will be special!

Great Vid

But there’s one thing that bothers me about the clips — the scores of some of the games. Hopefully that changes this years.

JC and Chiefs in 2010!

by NaturalsLight on Mar 14, 2010 4:53 PM CDT reply actions

Watching this

He reminds me of Marcus Allen in his prime. He doesn’t look like he’s running fast but he leaves DB’s in his wake. He hits the smallest hole with a smoothness and balance that allows him to keep his feet. That is a GREAT reel. We’re so damn lucky we got this guy. I’m glad Haley gave him a shot instead of burying him on the bench.

What I love..

Sometimes defender’s are a plentiful of yards ahead of JC, and JC is so fast he goes on and zooms by them leaving them choking on his dust

That is whom he reminds me of...

There were slight glimpses of Eric Dickerson type running there… If we can upgrade the offensive line Jamal Charles is going to have an outstanding year.

I believe it was Mike Cox or whomever the fullback was put on a massive block for him towards the end of the reel… that was impressive. If we can get him into the 2nd tier he is gone…

Go Chiefs!!!!

by ravenhawk on Mar 14, 2010 7:03 PM CDT up reply actions

I saw that block too.

I already knew the guy was fast and had sick moves so what really impressed me is that i saw him lower his shoulder on the goal line and push his way in for a TD. I have no doubts that JC will be able to pick up crucial short yardage plays.

Don't blame me, I voted for content of character.

by paratrooper on Mar 15, 2010 8:32 AM CDT up reply actions

That is a great video!!!

Here’s a link to another good video of JC. If this doesn’t give you chills then there is something wrong with your chieftitude IMO!!!!

Also looks like a great highlight film for #11

Chris Chambers showin some speed and excellent blocking downfield.

Don't get me started on my Jamaal rant. I am in love with our RB. He is special.

Perfect attitude. Dedication. He’s the real deal. We really hit paydirt with him. I love that video….rec’d!

by krayfish on Mar 14, 2010 7:27 PM CDT reply actions

lmao!

He was embarrasing people in the open field. lmfao!

Jamaal Charles...Enough said.

by Chiefsfan85 on Mar 14, 2010 8:07 PM CDT reply actions

WHAT I NOTICED WAS...

There were huge holes for Charles to run through. Our line didn’t get nearly enough credit for opening those holes. Look at his 50+ yard runs, and you’ll see some of the biggest holes. Kudos to the oline. Lets get some better pass protection and we’ll be all good!

by Larryemcdaniel on Mar 15, 2010 2:42 AM CDT reply actions

I am not convinced

Not only do I not think Charles is a Pro Bowler, I’m not sure that he will get more carries or yards than Thomas Jones this season. I think Charles=Sproles. Don’t get me wrong, Charles and Sproles are both valauble players, but not pro bowlers, and definielty not all time greats.

by NCChiefs on Mar 15, 2010 9:22 AM CDT reply actions

What did you see that you didn't like?

The ONLY fault Charles has (that I can see) is his size. Is that what concerns you?

I see a RB that is patient enough to wait for his hole to develop, gets through the hole, is the fastest player on the field, has great vision down field, and has the ability to cut on a dime at full speed. What else do you want?

Predictions:
This year will be better

by jmcgoblue on Mar 15, 2010 9:41 AM CDT up reply actions

I didn't say I didn't like him

I just don’t know how we can all sit here and talk about how great he is at this point. He is still just as likely that to be a flash in the pan as a pro bowler. It seems like everybody on this site is counting on the fact that we have a top five running back on our team. I want to see him last for an entire season before I hang my hat on a small back with a limited body of work. Plus, to me, everything about him screams “change of pace” instead of “Featured back”

by NCChiefs on Mar 15, 2010 2:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Unless your looking thru a sniper rifle

And the cross hairs are on J.C head, how can you really say, he will not be a pro bowl player. or a all time great hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

by CPT.Caveman on Mar 15, 2010 9:28 AM CDT reply actions

Ugh seeing some of those scores made me want to barf.

Official member of the "Draft Eric Berry" fan club... But I'm not changing my picture, dammit!

by Red N Gold Beast on Mar 15, 2010 11:00 AM CDT reply actions

My one and only proviso

is whether or not he has overcome the fumbling issue. If he has, he can be one of the greats. He is so much faster than 90% of the players on the field. Only the defensive safties seem to have enough speed to catch him in the open field and I would say that not ALL safties could do it. Unless he gets hurt, he should have a tremendous NFL career.
