Jon tried to trade down

But didn’t get any bites. Nice work though Jon.

thanks Joel

Not sure it will be Pioli’s pick though. I was tempted to go Dan Williams as i think that would be the actual Pioli move

The first 3 picks of the draft will be defense. Pioli loves him some defense.

thank you, thank you, thank you

not that i wouldn’t want berry, but i think you’re right. despite the kool aid, that just doesn’t seem like a Pioli move, not when the lines are in the shape they’re in. i think Dan Williams might very well be the pick, and i’d love it
thank you, good night

If Williams is a great NT, I am all for it...I don't know much about him as a person.

but if hes the complete package why not…I just want that pick to either be S/NT/ILB…If there was a certain top WR without issues, I would add that to the list.

Scott Pioli will find a way to make NT the biggest offseason priority.

Nope the pick was Eric Berry.

Although i’m not a Berry fan he is the top talent in this draft and he slides to the 5th pick.

i can handle that and i'm sure he'll be very good, but i think id rather have williams

you gotta remember, Jackson wasn’t the top talent at 3 last year, but he had positional value plus need

by E.C. on Mar 13, 2010 12:29 PM CST up reply actions

Yep i'm aware and safety is deep in this draft.

But as much as i’d like to try and predict Pioli i don’t think its possible to predict him as a GM. I truly believe he not only looks at tape and talks to scouts i think he trusts his guy a lot. Dan Williams could be a solid NT but i think he tries to jump through gaps too much and i’m afraid he won’t demand a double team and still be able to shred the blockers and get the running back.

i can accept your appraisal of Williams

I don’t know enough about him. i just think top 3 DT and #1 NT prospect; it’s a good safe, value pick. and yes, saftey is deep and i think we can get a pretty comparable safety later on, but not too late

by E.C. on Mar 13, 2010 12:38 PM CST up reply actions

You couldn’t go wrong with Berry. McClain, or Dan Williams.

by dablueguy on Mar 13, 2010 1:18 PM CST up reply actions

berry! berry!, then Tate! Berry/Tate, Berry/Spikes, Berry/Cody

although honestly if you wanted to really predict what might happen…

earl thomas…

why not? he's moving up on the boards

i’ve seen 11 to Denver a couple times and that would be less of a reach than jackson last year. we stunk it up last year against the run and didn’t push the pocket at all on pass plays; if it was soooo bad, and it was, why not fix that with our top pick

by E.C. on Mar 13, 2010 12:32 PM CST up reply actions

The only way I see Berry not being there at #5 is if Tampa picks him and that means....

….SUH probably WILL be there at #5. Hopefully that would make the #5 a more attractive pick for a trade up but if not then take SUH. I don’t see that scenario playing out though.

yeah I look at the history of a safety in the top 4 picks...just doesnt happen

I don't think Pioli goes D-line with the #5. That would be alot of $ tied up in a young...

….unproven line. With the signing of Shaun Smifff I think Pioli will grab a NT at 2a IF Cody is there and if not I think he will wait and grab someone like Troup. Next to SUH, Berry looks to be the most dynamic complete player available and probably would be our best pick at #5.

Exactly…
We can get the NT we need in later rounds.

can we? i guess so, maybe

and you don’t think we can get the safety we need in later rounds?

by E.C. on Mar 13, 2010 1:24 PM CST up reply actions

It's not that we couldn't get a saftey later, it's that the best player available at #5....

….will in all likelyhood be Berry. I’m not sold on Dan Williams and with Shaun Smiff on board NT becomes less of a major priority. Personally I would love to drop out of the 5th pick and grab someone like Earl Thomas and accuire another pick or two but those deals are hard to make so as it stands for me, Berry is the pick.

many say Berry could be the best player in the draft...

I’d lean towards Suh… but, I think Berry is a close 2nd

I hope Berry is the choice

* KC now has the best coaching staff in the league
* 9-7 is a real possibility in 2010 IF the Chiefs get 4 new starters
* keep Albert at LT, upgrade the positions that NEED upgrading.C, RG, NT, S, LB

Kiper McShay and others have KC taking Berry

I think it is the consensus pick now

Berry fills a need and is a good player, so it is an OK pick by me

I still prefer OT as a position of need

NT is also needed

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

by WarWolf on Mar 13, 2010 1:31 PM CST reply actions

o looking at your mock I see Okung and Beluga were already gone, so Berry makes even more sense

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

by WarWolf on Mar 13, 2010 1:46 PM CST reply actions

yep if either tackle were there my decision is tougher

But with no tackles on the board and no trade down available pick became either take the best talent in the draft or reach for a position of greater need i chose the first.

The first 3 picks of the draft will be defense. Pioli loves him some defense.

by ChiefsfanJon on Mar 13, 2010 1:53 PM CST up reply actions

With the 36th pick in the draft i selected...

Golden Tate WR Notre Dame. Pouncey was gone as was Jerry Hughes my two preferred choices.

Berry and Golden Tate 1, 2 is about as good as it gets for us. I hope Tate’s around at #36 to give us the option.

by dablueguy on Mar 13, 2010 3:59 PM CST up reply actions

And now Cam Thomas at 2B. Good job. We can only hope the real draft goes so well for us.

Thanks i was sweating it out hoping Cam would fall to 2b.

Good picks

S Berry

WR Tate

NT Cam

filled 3 needs with 3 top players

Too bad no oline, but can’t fill everything with so many needs

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

by WarWolf on Mar 14, 2010 3:44 PM CDT up reply actions

What do you guys think of Earl Thomas the safety out of Texas...

I’m Not saying he should be our fifth pick but I overheard mike mayock rating him over Eric berry as the number 1 safety in the draft

by D.CCHIEFSFAN on Mar 13, 2010 3:17 PM CST via mobile reply actions

I think he will be a great player but i think he will be a CB at the NFL level at least for a couple seasons and then a team will move him back to safety

The first 3 picks of the draft will be defense. Pioli loves him some defense.
