The future of Glenn Dorsey?

As we look at the future needs of our beloved KC Chiefs, is DE really a need?

First of all, T-Jack should be given a fair shot to continue to improve as the organization grows into the 3-4 scheme over the next few years before he is criticized to hard. I have read comments here and there that he was not that impressive. Overall his job is not glamorous as we all know and he just needs to keep his hands up and fill lanes.

The real question is "Will Glenn Dorsey fit the bill at DE?"

I have to admit, in my cable region (Iowa City) I don't get to watch the chiefs as much as I would like, but the feedback I keep hearing about GD is that our 2 worst games against the rush he was sitting out. Is this a coincidence or is Glenn Dorsey a force on the right side. I think that this kid has amazing talent and could potentially blossom into something great. However, do we wait and see or do we attempt a trade in order to gain a known powerhouse at this position.

We wouldn't be having this conversation if the "mullet master" Jared Allen was still in town, but I suppose gaining Brandon Flowers out of that deal wasn't all bad.

Just interested to hear your thoughts on this issue.

Your poll should have the option

Glen Dorsey is already a badass and is only going to get better. No 1st round DE is necessary.

I stand corrected

It was Branden Albert with the 1st round pick and Jamaal Charles with the 3rd round pick. This looks even better!! Wow, did we have a GREAT FREAKIN’ draft in 2008!!!!!

Morgan as well

1. Suh will fall to us at 5
2. McClain will fall to us at 2a
3. The Chiefs will trade DJ and Dorsey

Dorsey is doing a stand up job

in the wrong role. He has gone above and beyond but the truth is that he isn’t a pass rush 3-4 end. Maybe he could change my mind playing next to a legit NT

by SillyHatDay on Mar 13, 2010 9:45 AM CST reply actions

No doubt about that SHD.

If they have to double up on our NT, nothing will get by Dorsey. Is a 3-4 DE really supposed to be a sack master, or a guy who seals the end and allows the OLB to get sacks?

I agree

Dorsey is a beast and will come into his own at that position, especially with Tamba learning to create havoc off of the end!!!

Brandon Flowers and Jamaal Charles….

For the Jared Allen trade.

by JayMS3 on Mar 13, 2010 10:57 AM CST up reply actions

actually Flowers was a 2nd round pick

We got a 1st and 2 3rds from Minn. and we took Brandon Albert with Minnestoa’s 15th pick in the 1st and Jamaal Charles with the pick we got from them in the 3rd

Why

all the “trade Glenn Dorsey” talk? Doing that would be like taking a step forward and then running twenty yards backwards. Dorsey was arguably the strongest player on the Defense (along with Hali) and DEFINATELY the strongest point of our D line. Getting rid of him would be pointless. He’s talented, he took a new position and not only survived but thrived, AND we saw what our Defense was like without him there. Was getting rid of Jarad Allen worth it? Yes, it was. But what made it worth it was that we got so many guys who are starters now because of it. No. I don’t buy a Glenn Dorsey trade.

if you deal dorsey, it would have to be quite the offer..

in my opinion if they were going to trade him it would have been last year to atlanta instead of taking peria jerry….

I just hope we go with the flashy player at pick 5 because honestly we need it….our team is SO SLOW…

Scott Pioli will find a way to make NT the biggest offseason priority.

Glenn Dorsey is a stud!

Given that Tyson Jackson had very good ROOKIE year (compared to most DE’s in their rookie year) and if Shaun Smith can perform at the level needed for NT we will have a stellar front 3 this season. And just a side note: A big part of Hali’s stellar performance was due to Dorsey’s stellar performance

Glenn Dorsey or (Jay Ratliff)...hmm??

Glenn Dorsey reminds me of Jay Ratliff. They hav sumwhat the same build(6’ 2/300lbs) & motor(speed & power). I wonder if Romeo Crennell ever considered moving Dorsey back inside and putting him in attack mode like the Cowboys do with Ratliff. In my opinion, I think he should…..Ratliff has made the pro-bowl the past few years playing that non-traditional NT position!! Howeva, with the recent FA pick up of Shaun Smith I doubt it!!

Love the idea...

How killer would it be if …not a chance… he was along side of Suh… and they were attacking instead of eating up blockers?

I like Dorsey...

I would just like to see him disrupt the backfield more. If we see him as our future then Crennel, who is very capable, should come up with some packages to utilize Glenn as a three technique. Dorsey was everything he was hyped to be, and that is why he did a pretty good job at a position he doesn’t fit in to a T. If we do trade him we better get good compensation. Chicago gave a 2nd rounder for a recent top 5 pick in Gaines Adams (may he RIP) and he didn’t show anything in his first two years.

1. Suh will fall to us at 5
2. McClain will fall to us at 2a
3. The Chiefs will trade DJ and Dorsey

Don't understand the Dorsey controversy

Didn’t get it last year, then he goes out and IS the best DL player on the team and now it starts again.

People need to quit looking at what players did in college and putting them in box. I’m so sick of reading about “Dorsey isn’t a 3-4 DE he is a DT in a 4-3….. Albert should be moved to his natural position at LG and we should Draft a real LT……etc….”

These guys are doing great and only gonna get better. The coaches we have in place now will put people where they can excel, and teach them to play the positions they put them in, the way that they want it played. And like the Org showed with some of the heart ache releases last year, if you don;t do it their way, and perform and show promise you will be gone and they wil get someone else to do it.

I'm not a smart man

we recieved minnesota's

17th overall pick and traded up to the 15th pick to aquire albert. and why is there always a trade dorsey or cassel thread every other day on this board?everyone agrees to build the team through the draft but turn around and want to trade a player we drafted and is coming along very well doesnt make sense.

I for one believe

that every one of Dorsey’s doubters will eat their words by the end of his career provided that he stays healthy.

rofl

Where is the vote for he is doing just fine and has a bright future in Kansas City for years to come?I dont know wtf you think a D-line guy is going to do in his first 2 years?I guess he was supposed to get 13 sacks and 80 tackles and be the best rookie D linman ever!He is overpaid but thats 99% of rookies and another topic in itself.People need to get of Dorsey. He is a rock!I have a idea lets trade Dorsey to move up for Suh so we can watch him get pushed around for 2 years till he starts to get good then we can lable him a bust and trade for another rookie d-lineman and rinse and repeat. We can just develope them for the rest of the nfl.
