LJ Says He And Portis Can Be The Next LJ And Priest

As many of you know, former Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is in Washington D.C. visiting with the Redskins today. He's got a visit scheduled with the Oakland Raiders this weekend but since he's from the D.C. area, he's hoping the Redskins make him an offer he can't refuse.

In fact, he sounded particularly delighted at the thought of teaming up with Clinton Portis.

"That'd be awesome," Johnson said. "There hasn't been a real good running back tandem in the league [for a while]. There's always been one guy or three guys. It'd be just like how me and Priest Holmes was way back in the day. It'd be nice to be able to play aside somebody like that."

Somehow I doubt that.

Oh by "me and preist was way back in the day" does he mean

how Preist made LJ look like a bust? he will be a bust signing…

LJ rode the pine, almost traded/cut, then took over after priest got hurt, and then bitched about money? all the while priest sat back and worked back? i dont remember there being a “2 back system”…

So if LJ does sign with Washington

should we just refer to LJ and Portis as 3.3?

by paratrooper on Mar 12, 2010 2:41 PM CST up reply actions

I'm sure they could be

If back in the day refers to 2009 when priest was retired and LJ sucked. All he needs is for portis to retire. I don’t have a problem with players who lose their skills and go quietly understanding that they don’t have it anymore, but LJ is really starting to piss me off, retire already!

I hope they give him an assload of money.

I love to see the Redskins do stupid things with cash. I’m sure their QB will love having LJ perform his ole’ blocks in the back field!

by BinSC on Mar 12, 2010 2:12 PM CST reply actions

LJ and Portis have something in common

they both did not much care for Holmes when he was playing. Remember the WWE like belt that Portis wore while in Denver. Lol, I hope LJ signs with the Redskins because it would make for a good comedy to watch.

omfg

see, the funny part of it is … when he was here, Priest Holmes (when healthy) got all the carries … is that what he’s implying there? Portis gets the carries, gains the yardage, and he sits on the bench with his “whine and cheese” show?

by G.L. on Mar 12, 2010 2:20 PM CST up reply actions

He's only saying all of this crap because he needs a job, and no one wants him

Because if I remember correctly, didn’t he whine all of the time because he had to split carries with Priest, and because he wanted to be the “featured back.?” I’m so glad we got rid of this guy. Vermeil was right about him all along. He needs to take the diapers off.

Yeah 2.7… best tandem in the league my ass. Sounds like another underhanded comment towards the Chiefs. Maybe there’s a little bit of jealousy there over Charles and Jones?

Larry Johnson

this guy… It’s impressive how self absorbed this man really is. Signs and doesn’t play with the Bengals(other than .5 a play aginst the Chiefs in which he was jacked about his two yard gain) and now he claiming him and Priest were the best two back tandem in the league? Seriously? He honestly believes he was a contributor when Priest was setting records. I almost feel bad for his dillusional ass. He’ll be 80 and still looking for a new contract to become the league’s 125th ranked player in terms of career rushing yards.

You're a goddamn quarterback! You know what that means? It's the top spot, kid. It's the guy who takes the fall. It's the guy everybody's looking at first - the leader of a team - who will support you when they understand you. Who will break their ribs and their noses and their necks for you, because they believe. 'Cause you make them believe. That's a quarterback.
