The Spoon Defense Against A Bowl Of Berry(s)

Lest ye forget, it hasn't been that long since a certain team that all many some a few of us love was actually an NCAAF Title Contender.  That's right, the Missouri Tigers, who just a couple of years ago were on one one the most amazing runs of greatness in the storied history of sportsdom.  How, one might ask, were they able to achieve the greatness they did?  What one player was most instrumental in the ascension of the Missouri Tigers to the top of the world, if briefly?   No, it wasn't Chase Daniel or Jeremy Maclin, though many would believe that to be the case.  You see, the truth is that the Tigers were led by the one, the only ...

are you asking for someone to spoon with?

Its quite obvious

that you would spoon with Spoon. I would even go so far as to say that your man crush has turned into full blown creeper stage. Lay off the MU homerism, relish in MU’s round 1 Big 12 win (oops, they got spanked by NU) and realize that your fantasy is just that, fantasy. Spoon won’t be picked in the top ten.

Don't blame me, I voted for content of character.

If you're saying we should take him with the #5 pick

then you make us Berrymaniacs look rational. If he’s there at 2a then let’s talk. He’s a good player, but he doesn’t belong in the same discussion as Berry (or even McClain if we’re talking 3-4 LBs).

I contend that Spoon is better than McClain ... and while maybe not #5, I do think he's 1st Round

he can also play ILB or OLB so there’s some versatility … the guy’s a beast by all accounts, very intelligent player, yadda yadda yadda … AND …

Hasn't it been discussed on here many times

That while in New England their linebackers were all like 250+ or at least close to it…not 239ish. If we were a 4-3 base team and traded down into the mid first, then yeah I could see there being some talk about him.

Chiefs have a Weight Facility

and a training table.

The better thought is he the right 53

People age and mature

A lot of the Chiefs players are youngsters.
We don’t need mentors but if you just surround all the youth with quality people/players and leadership, this team is going to be real good real quick.

he’s tough, explosive, great tackler, always around the play and the ball … if that’s not “The Right 53” then I don’t know what is

and he’d be the ultimate student of the game for the ultimate “player-coach” at that position: Vrabel

stick in a pro training room with some weights for a coupla months and watch him bulk up with muscle

Berry? ahhhh ... he's ok, I guess, if there's nobody better out there ...

.. yo know, like Spoon {{grin}}

look, we’ve all been hearing and reading more than enough Berry posts lately, and while I’m not gonna say Berry sucks (he doesn’t) I will say that Taylor Mays (for one) would be just as good a pick as Berry (IMNSHO)

Spoon, for example, is rated very highly on a number of draft sites … just as Mays is, just as Berry and McClain and Suh and … you get the idea

is one “worth” more than the other? beats me … truth is, a LOT of these guys are DAMN good (in theory) and there’s always the chance that Berry comes in and guess what … sucks at the NFL level (not saying he WILL, but until a player gets there and actually plays, there ARE no guarantees, and we ALL know that)

this post was really equal parts “I Like Spoon” and “Oh, Look! A Player Not Named Berry!” … you guys have your “fan club” and now I have mine {{grin}}

just remember that until these hot college studs actually play at the NFL level, until they fall flat on their faces, each and every one of them is as good as advertised or maybe better … Spoon has the stats, the credentials, the talking heads and the videos … just like Berry … he fills a need on our team, just like Berry … but the best part of all is … he’s not Berry {{bigger grin}}

so yanno, if Pioli goes with Berry at #5 I won’t complain, cuz I fugure he has his reasons and he knows stuff, right? and if Pioli goes with Berry at #5 I won’t complain either, cuz I fugure he has his reasons and he knows stuff

that said … I really DO think Spoon would be a good fit for us … Vrabel’s not getting any younger (and think how much an already football savvy guy like Spoon could benefit from Vrabel’s experience and knowledge) … he’s a hard worker as well as a hard player … can play inside or outside (give Vrabel a rest opposite Hali, or if Hali needs a rest, or inside with DJ or instead of DJ)

Looks like Philly, AZ, and the Jets might be a problem.

even if Denver gets their McClain, Spoons versatility is going to get him drafted in 1st.

drafting spoon would be amazing

but we talk about berry because he is the best possible option at NO.5 spoon would be good but i dont see us getting him in the 2nd round

You're a goddamn quarterback! You know what that means? It's the top spot, kid. It's the guy who takes the fall. It's the guy everybody's looking at first - the leader of a team - who will support you when they understand you. Who will break their ribs and their noses and their necks for you, because they believe. 'Cause you make them believe. That's a quarterback.
