Gerard Warren... 6'4", 330lbs
considered somewhat of a bust... but that could be because he played for Oakland...

Big Ron actually did an alright job last year..

Hes not a superstar in any means but he can hold his own.

by tomahawk44 on Mar 11, 2010 3:34 PM CST up reply actions

Its true

Another thing for poor Ron. It became so cliche to say all the problems were because of him and if we plug in a magical NT, it will transform us to a top 5 defense. I just don’t think that’s the case.
Certainly he’s not an elite NT, but he’s not as bad as everyone wants to paint him.

I don't want to ever see jason babin anywhere near the chiefs...hes on my list with samie parker...

why? because many chief fan sites had him on our team last year when he wasnt(in the offseason…during training camp…) honestly I think some still believe hes on the team

im fine with jason babin, I just wish I didnt spend an entire offseason reading how he was going to be an answer moved to OLB :)

ive made bigger mistakes…once I said outloud how the chargers should replace ben leber…yeah, his wife was on the treadmill next to me…felt reaaaally bad

Someone mustve poisened Al Davis

He is making good moves this offseason. Retaining the Head Coach, cutting dead weight players…what going on??? Whatever it is, stop it! We need crazy Al!

Why the heck not?

If anyone can get something out of him it’s Romeo.

by LTownChiefsFan on Mar 11, 2010 3:25 PM CST reply actions

actually I vote NO on this one....

I know ive said we need big guys for the NT spot etc…this guy just isnt it….hes a slug…seriously.

He's already played under Romeo in Cleveland...

I think I’d prefer Jimmy Kennedy though

Denver will grab him. They seem to be grabbing all DL

Guess Ayers isn’t working out for them like they’d hoped. They were hoping to get TJax last year, and I am glad they didn’t.

1. Are they an upgrade over what we already have?
2. Do they have high football IQ?
3. Can they make a difference from Day 1?
4. Do they have a history of leadership?
5. Sign him up.

?

Ayers is an OLB….and from all reports I’ve read they were pleased with his rookie campaign

i remember denver being linked to tjax last year, didnt realize they moved him to lb

Denver traded him to the Raisders

two years ago. But this is a different regime now in Denver so who knows.

by ICTChief on Mar 11, 2010 3:48 PM CST up reply actions

He has the size, but he hasn't

played very well in Cleveland, Denver, or Oakland. I say pass on this one.

by G.L. on Mar 11, 2010 3:48 PM CST reply actions

grab him

we need all the big NTs as we can. he isn’t horrible. maybe crennel can get something out of him. the don would sign him to the veteran min. At least see what he can do through training camp & then cut him if he sucks

53 man roster

We can’t just grab everyone. He is not the help we need. Stick with Smith, Edwards and whoever we draft in the 2nd round at NT.

53 man roster once the season starts!

We’ve got plenty of time to pick up some competition/training camp fodder.

by LTownChiefsFan on Mar 11, 2010 3:54 PM CST up reply actions

Why not?

I would not be disappointed; nor would I care if we did not get him, but let’s try him out at NT with low risk contract. He pans out, we look like a genious. If he doesn’t, than cut him.

by ChiefsFan90s on Mar 11, 2010 3:55 PM CST reply actions

Anybody know what the raiders are asking for him?

or was he just plain released?

I think busting with the browns then 2 afc west teams is enough.

maybe

Oakland did this to see if we bit, (this might not make sense but what if they have plans on getting either cody or D.williams) so we don’t take either of em!!

This guy was...

the only defense tackle drafted in the top 3 in the last 12 years. This is why I believe Suh has a very good chance at falling to us at 5. I’m telling you, you guys better be prepared.

1. Suh will fall to us at 5
2. McClain will fall to us at 2a
3. The Chiefs will trade DJ and Dorsey

I like Warren and Smith wont last 10 games.

I got excited about hearing of Shaun Smiths signing but when Gerard Warren was released today I decided to compare their numbers.
In the 6 years he has been in the league he has started over 10 games just once. 2 career sacks! So check out his stats before getting too excited about him. My thought is to sign Gerard Warren as a player to compete with (insurance if you will), because mark my words Smith will not make it the whole season. Warren is only 31 has 32 sacks in 10 seasons and has only missed 8 games. 1st link is Smiths stats …2nd link is Warrens stats.

What would you rather have?

What would you rather have?
Kirk Morrison or LB/Andra Davis and TE/ Eric Olsen
Kirk Morrison or ILB/Larry Foote and TE/Eric Olsen

Pretty easy when put this way. I will take good 2 players over just one great.
So my point is give Chicago our 3rd rd pick and give me a top 5 TE for Cassel to throw to and a potential Pro-Bowl LB.
