Thomas Jones' deal influences Faulk
Faulk said he knew all along that he would be returning to the Patriots, but his hope was that the team would sweeten its offer.
It didn’t turn out that way and when Faulk saw running back Thomas Jones sign a two-year, $5 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, he decided it was time to sign his own name on the dotted line.
"He’s one of the top backs in the league. He finished third in rushing last year," Faulk said. "So when he signed that deal, it made a statement to us that ‘this is where the market is.’ And I’m not a starting running back."

interesting
Pioli is setting the market.

I didn't realize he was such a top rusher...but that was with a really good Jets line.

How is it Chester Taylor is making $7,000,000 in 2010 as backup.
When Thomas Jones and Kevin Faulk are both making less than that combine.
Chester Taylor
Found a sucker to pay him……….

Matt Forte is still the starter.
Taylor is the backup.

Si.
Though that is probably nominally only…they will likely nearly split carries…We will see.

True
Now that think of it, it is still too early to tell rather Matt Forte, or Chester Taylor will be the starter, but they will more than likely splitting the carries.

Its was only his second season though
Surely they won’t abandon him already. Forte had a decent rookie year.
m sure Jones and Charles will be almost splitting too
8-8 is possible in 2010 and it wont take breaking the bank on 2nd tear free agents getting lucrative contracts because the free agent pool is so weak this year!
not sure
i think that it will be closer to 60/40 maybe 70/30 with charles on the high side TJ left for goalline and short yardage imo

Im fine with them splitting really. I plan on keeping charles around and not wearing out the tread on the tires.

Jamaal needs to be at about 300 carries, IMO
Last year Jamaal got about 13 carries per game. That number needs to be up around 19 carries, in my opinion, with Thomas Jones getting the rest. That will give JC ~300 carries, which is right about where I think he should be.
Would be interesting to look at the running back commitees around the league. I looked at Dallas and their carry load was about 3:2:1 with Marion Barber/Felix Jones/Tashard Choice. I look for us to be at about 3:1 Jamaal Charles/Thomas Jones, barring injury of course.
I think you will see Jones get more carries than that
I also think you will see Charles used a little more like Reggie Bush is used by the Saints. I bet we will see Charles lined up in the slot more often. I do believe he will still get the majority of the carries.

I'd rather him be on the under side of 300
more in the 275 range. Maybe just a little less, but averaging between 15 and 18 carries a game. JC can have a big impact and not fall apart. He is so young and if we can have him around for 7 to 8 years we’d be really lucky, and the only way that is going to happen is by keeping him jus under 20 carries with about 5 or so receptions/targets in the passing game.

No
JC should be given around 250 carries, TJ should be given around 150 carries, and everybody should be given around 100 carries combined.

Im fine with that.
They will be a great pair, I think. We got a running game now, sirs.

Welcome to Kansas City, Mr. Jones.
Now, will you kindly put up 800yds. to Jamaal’s 1500, and keep a seat warm for when KC takes John Clay in April 2011?
Boycott Facebook. It's lame. Inform your real friends that you're going to communicate with them like a normal human being, and then delete your account. Seriously.
