Terrell Owens

Ok, I know what most of you are thinking. But if we could get him in here for cheap; then why would't we. He is going to want to play somewhere in 2010. And not very many teams are interested in him. He’s unrestricted; and can bring something to this team. He really doesn’t have that much of an attitude issue anymore. Imagine Bowe, Chambers, Owens, and Tate; and then Charles and Jones in the back field. I get pretty excited thinking about that. I think we should just bring him in (If he doesn’t sign with Cincinnati) and see how it goes.

I’ve hated that asshole ever since he pretended like he was going to give me a ball after a TD then pulled it back on me. At Arrowhead no less…

Marshall = LJ v2. Why do people forget so quickly!

If we can get Tate I’ll be happy. Bowe, Chamber, and Tate would make a solid core.

Draft

Golden Tate, Arrelious Benn, or Mardy Gilyard

DRAFT

it’s time to build through the draft…. as always.

Chambers… check
Bowe….check
Wade/Long/Lawrence… well, they are still here, unless a replacement is acquired.

KC NEEDS to draft a WR that can contribute right away… not keep chasing 30yr old guys like Chambers, Wade, Toomer, TO, etc.

* KC now has the best coaching staff in the league
* 9-7 is a real possibility in 2010 IF the Chiefs get 4 new starters
* keep Albert at LT, upgrade the positions that NEED upgrading.C, RG, NT, S, LB

I don’t understand everyone wanting these guy’s that are pretty much finished, or punks. Hell maybe we should sign L.J back.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMkay

My first sarcasm fail. We already have Chambers, T.O is going to do what? Plus they don’t let wheelchairs on the field. We are rebuilding, so lets do it, and get it over with. No more old farts, like T.O. If T.O is so great why is he playing for the BILLS.
Seems like i remember T.O cause his teams alot of grief when he was younger, and B.Marshall is doing the same " it’s all about me" shite.

They're productive, but need a good situation to truly prosper.

Teammates seem to agree that TO is great in games and in practice.

I don’t think Haley wants to have ANYthing to do with him, though. That bridge was burned down in Dallas.

but I think he is shot, might make a good route receiver which has always been his forte but I just think he is too slow.

but… remember, the Ravens and Bengals have now filled their WR need… and the Seahawks may be doing the same…

that could cause guys to slip in the draft.

Also, Dez Bryant’s stock is slipping, which could push some of these guys down the board

as far as TO is concerned, or Marshall … think LJ with speed … no to both (and that includes Dez Bryant)

by Da Chiefs Guy on Mar 10, 2010 4:21 PM CST reply actions

I think there are questions about Gilyard's ability to get off the jam against NFL-level corners.

Against MOST NFL teams, this isn’t a huge issue, since you can put the kid in the slot, spread things out, and force most defenses into something passive at the line. But it’s the short of issue that resurfaces in the playoffs, and you notice against the teams (like the Jets), who will manhandle you at the line, if they can (and they usually can).

He's a cancer. he's proven that in San Fran, Philly, and Dallas....

…..I wouldn’t want him on the Chiefs if he paid the Chiefs to be there.
All that being said, let’s forget about the cancer he would spread to the team for a minute.

TO has absolutley, completely, totally, ZERO burst left in his legs. He can’t get any seperation off the defenders anymore. He proved that last season in Buffalo. If youwant to take T.O. out of the game all you do is play ‘bump and run’ coverage at the line and T.O. is a non-factor.
TO has no breakaway speed to challenge anyone deep.
TO has as many, if not more, problems catching the damn ball as Bowe did last season; and he’s had that issue his entire career. Throughtout career he has been known for the easy one’s he dropped just as much as he has for the circus catches he’s made.
TO and Haley go together like oil and water.

There is no upside what-so-ever to adding TO to our team.

I think the Chiefs are positioning themselves to take the best-value WR on their board at almost any point.

When it comes to this year’s draft, I think the Chiefs will have the luxury of following the value, and getting upgrades at every pick.

I think TO’s still a talented WR, but yes, too many drops, and not nearly the same explosion that the younger TO used to leave James Hasty flat-footed.

I was kind of interested in Antonio Bryant,

But CIN just signed him.

I’m good with our current roster. Lilja would be a nice addition, but if we went into the draft with our current roster I’d be OK.

Let’s draft a WR for our #3/KR guy.

My sentiments are likely to be summed up with one of these 2 quotes:

by Red N Gold Beast on Mar 10, 2010 4:55 PM CST reply actions

Bryant's good, but not great.

I think the Chiefs need to pick their spots and keep making system picks, but they’re coming closer and closer to where they add a dominant young player at WR.

by hmills110 on Mar 15, 2010 12:20 AM CDT up reply actions

Definitely wouldn't want him

1. He’s a shell of his former self

2. He has a terrible attitude.

3. Him and Haley don’t get along. I read an article a while back where TO was saying Haley was a jerk back when Haley worked for the Cowboys.

4. He doesn’t fit the right 53 mantra by any means.

If Chambers didnt resign, then I could understand it

Bowe and Chambers are interchangable at flanker/split end, which is what Owens is. Any two out of Bobby Wade, Terrance Copper and Quinten Lawrence are capable of handling 4th & 5th receiver tasks. What this team needs is a speedy, sure-handed slot guy, which is not Owens.

The studs from the 2010 draft class will be: DT Ndamukong Suh, S Eric Berry, RB C.J. Spiller, RB Jahvid Best, WR Arrelious Benn, WR Golden Tate, WR Mardy Gilyard, OT Charles Brown, CB Kyle Wilson and S Chad Jones

by kc_radrh8r on Mar 10, 2010 5:06 PM CST reply actions

I don't see them as interchangeable.

Bowe’s the tougher possession receiver, Chambers has more get-open speed and caginess. Bowe has the better hands – or at least the better fundamentals when the ball is contested. Chambers is more likely to make the easy catch, especially the basket catch, but Bowe’s more likely to snatch the ball outta the air at its highest point and not get himself hurt on the way back down.

But they ARE both big-bodied WRs who can use their bodies to keep the DB away from the ball.

I like both of ‘em, and I think Chambers’ technique will improve this offseason, as will Bowe’s, but neither one is going to run faster, and, in Chambers’ case, that’s an issue, because his speed is a big part of his value.

I, personally, would feel better with another big ‘n’ fast WR in the mix. I think the WR depth is there, but the starting lineup could use upgrading.

I hear what everyone’s saying about the slot, and I respect that, but I think having another legit perimeter player behind Chambers, in particular, especially a young’un who can challenge Chambers, would be a very good thing, and a higher priority than the slot.

by hmills110 on Mar 15, 2010 12:36 AM CDT up reply actions

How bout we draft Jordan Shipley with pick 2b or in the 3rd round?? He could/would fit perfect in the slot and also solve our KR/PR problem as well!! Just a thought!!

T.O. is a B.M.

My bold prediction and I think our best chance at moving down in the 1st. Bret Favre retires, Tavarris Jackson is not retained or leaves and the Vikings trade up, with our beloved Chiefs, for Jimmy Claussen.

WRITE IT DOWN!

by BigRedChief on Mar 10, 2010 6:05 PM CST up reply actions

T.O is a no go.

theres no point of him being on our team. In fact I say it would make our team worse. He isn’t a pioli type of guy, and Todd Haley and Weis will yell at anyone who is not doin their job and in fact halley has prolly chewed out every offensive player on our team. If you think his yelling at bobby wade and boldin was a big deal imagine this.. and second of all we have a no. 1 and 2 receiver we need to draft a reciever for the future in the draft ( hopefully tate or gilyard ). In the history of terrel owens he has not helped any quarterback develop and didn’t help any receivers become any better either. sorry no marshall or owens. I’ll take parker over both of them

Fast, young, can catch the football, no history of off-the-field issues, and would want to be here with Charlie Weis. Perfect fit for the team.

I'm thinking...

Tate is a very good possibility since Weiss already knows him and he knows Weiss’ Offensive scheme and terminology.

i like gilyard too, and he can be had later, but i'd be perfectly happy with tate

except that we would have used practically a 1st round pick on a number three receiver

by E.C. on Mar 10, 2010 7:25 PM CST up reply actions

Weis connection could be decisive.

And if Tate can be that pesky sumbitch who causes heartburn in opposing defenses, like Welker, for instance, then KC has an interesting array of WRs they can put on the field in ’10.

I’m not as high on Gilyard, because I’ve read that his skillset mightn’t translate to the next level – maybe can’t fight off a good jam, and if NFL defenses know you’re susceptible to that, they WILL jam you all day long.

I usually see more good being done in the trenches and at DB with those higher picks, myself, but I’ve also seen KC draft quite a few later-round WRs based on measurables, but who simply weren’t PLAYERS. Gotta be the real deal to be dominant 1-on-1 in space, where there’s nothing a teammate can do for you, ’cept maybe throw an illegal pick.

TO vs Brandon Marshall

I’d say Marshall, but he’s too expensive for a guy who doesn’t really fit :the right 53".

T.O. I don’t hate but I think he’s done. He’s slowed and he seems to have gotten a major case of the dropsies, I think we have had enough of old slow guys who can’t catch.

It would be great if we could draft someone who can make an impact right away but I think with our other needs that might be easier said than done.

I am looking forward to seeing what Urban does.
