Julius Peppers: This is Clayton’s No. 3 story. The Carolina pass-rusher will likely hit the open market. Denver and Kansas City -- and perhaps San Diego -- could make a run at him.

If We can sign him...

We can really take this Defense forward and solidify a position of need in the draft. It would be one hell of a pickup

by Chiefs190 on Feb 9, 2010 7:33 PM CST reply actions

this

would be an awesome pick up.

by cainsbigonchiefs on Feb 9, 2010 7:42 PM CST reply actions

+1

Romeo talked about using both fronts the 3-4 and the 4-3 in his introductory press conference and this guy could make both lots of fun to see on the field

Does he have the size and strength to play DE in a 3-4,

or would we move him to OLB? I just don’t know if he’s an upgrade over Hali or if we want to replace Dorsey yet.

by ace328 on Feb 9, 2010 8:38 PM CST up reply actions

He would be an OLB

he would either just come in on obvious passing situations, or Hali would take Vrabels spot at LOLB and Peppers would be ROLB

by BAMFSpecialOps on Feb 9, 2010 10:43 PM CST up reply actions

The question I have with this

is which one(Hali or Peppers) would go out in coverage, or do we rush 5 guys every single play

by badassz1987 on Feb 9, 2010 10:47 PM CST up reply actions

if we don't have to overpay

Then I’m all for it. We can frontload a contract like we did for cassel. I would think that a front loaded contract would be appealing to players before a potential lockout.

peppers and a fa nt

Plus McClain in the draft. Things could get a lot better in a hurry

by BJ Kissel on Feb 9, 2010 8:39 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Add Nate Allen

and shake vigorously! That would be a serious turn around on D.

by Hail2DaChiefs on Feb 9, 2010 9:21 PM CST up reply actions

oh man. cant handle that

My man crush is mccluster right now. I’m sold on McClain, no matter what else happens

I just wanna recognize the name we call but McClain would make me …

by BJ Kissel on Feb 9, 2010 9:40 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

This would add

a great dimension to our D that Crennel would be able to use to a great advantage. Kind of like Adalius Thomas in NE. He was a 4-3 DE if i remember correctly then converted yo 3-4 OLB and showed all his versatility. Peppers is a much better player than Thomas IMO.

by RamX21 on Feb 9, 2010 9:44 PM CST reply actions

right idea

But I’m not sure Thomas really worked out the way ne had hoped

No question. Peppers makes us better

by BJ Kissel on Feb 9, 2010 10:03 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I'd rather have Wilfork.

Unless it was possible to have both….

by KC Nate on Feb 9, 2010 10:01 PM CST reply actions

agree

Wilfork is number one option but ne would be crazy to let their pro bowl nt in his prime go without his replacement ready

A fa nt that doesn’t cost us high draft picks would be nice

by BJ Kissel on Feb 9, 2010 10:07 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Peppers would convert to a 3-4 OLB

But we would lose out on vrabel unless he moved into the middle. Jackson, mystery NT, Dorsey on the line, Hali, DJ, Vrabel, Peppers at LB. Carr and flowers and berry and page in the secondary.

That looks like a complete monster defense, providing we can get a NT to clog the middle.

by SoCalChief17 on Feb 9, 2010 10:12 PM CST via mobile reply actions

nt is key but im not sure vrabel moves inside

There would be packages that could work for those guys in positions they’ve played before

by BJ Kissel on Feb 9, 2010 10:22 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

I say NO to Peppers

The guy has never shown consistency during his career. He has a penchant for making a couple of big plays and then disappearing for the next month. He could be the picture by the Webster definition of “yo-yo player”. I think he has every trait that Haley has spoken against. Add to that he’s going to want a ton of money and I don’t see it happening.

I'm not a fan...

He’s a bit of a head case and to get him you’ll likely need to over pay. I mean he openly complained about the Panthers’ offer being “a little bit” higher than the highest….not the kind of guy I want around.

And I’m sure he can be productive for a few more years but he’s not exactly a spring chicken.

by Daytrip65 on Feb 10, 2010 8:08 AM CST up reply actions

So we give up a 1st or 2nd for Peppers.

Or pay him a fortune. For a 3rd down guy? If he plays more I think it’s to the detriment of TJ and/or GD. Those kids need to play now. Peppers will hurt this team more than help.
