Colts Wrs.....
Hey guys happy Super Bowl Sunday! One of my favorite holidays :)
Since today is the Super Bowl and the Colts are in it I figured we could take a look at the Wrs and the possibilities of one becoming a Chief?
Lets start out with me saying that I know that they will probably keep all of these guys but they are so stacked I could also seeing them getting value out of one these guys..
Heres a look at the Colts Top Wrs this season:

Collie was a rookie this season and is one of two of the WRs that I will say that will be Colts for years to come but we will look at his numbers for the purpose of this post... 60 Receptions for 676 yards and 7 TDs.
Pierre Garcon is also a rookie that will be on the Colts for a long time but yet again we will check out his numbers...47 Receptions for 765 Yards and 4 TDs.
Call me crazy but Wayne is one of two WRs I could see the Colts possibly trading away. Reggie is an older WR but still produces at a pretty high level and helps draw double coverage to help out the other Wrs. Trading Wayne could help out the Colts by giving them a high draft choice and it would help out a team like the Chiefs. If the Chiefs where to trade for Wayne we would have a "hands" guy and he would help drag people away from Bowe. Waynes numbers for this year are as follows...100 Receptions for 1264 Yards and 10 TDs.

Anthony Gonzalez is the man that I can see the Colts moving the most. Anthony is a three year player who was placed in the injury reserve this last season due to a knee injury. I think with the emergence of Collie and Garcon gives the Colts a little room to wiggle and they could trade Gonzalez away to a team in need. Gonzalez career stats are...94 Receptions for 1240 Yards and 7 TDs.
I think that either of these two guys (Wayne or Gonzalez) would help out Kc in a great way.. Wayne could be the #1 guy and Gonzalez could be that slot WR we need. So what do you guys think?

one thing I forgot is...
that the Colts also have Dallas Clark as a weapon which makes those guys even more expendable IMO
thanks for the post, interesting thoughts
More so than “can we get one of these guys from the Colts”…
I would like KC to focus on “how do we draft and develop players into stars, like the Colts do every year”
Collie and Garcon are great examples of “unheralded” WR that can emerge as great contributors, when given the right system, coaching, etc.
I think it’s AMAZING how the Colts are able to evaluate talent and develop draft picks… they are probably the best in the league, even better than the Patriots that KC is emulating.
So, instead of hoping KC makes a move for a guy that looks good on the Colts… I’m hopeful that the Chiefs are building a system by which they can draft players that look good as CHIEFS, and develop them into starters that other teams covet.
This is why, again, it’s not about signing the big name FA, or drafting the high profile guys… it’s about drafting the RIGHT guys for your team… and I think KC is on the way to doing that. Hopefully, we will see our own versions of Garcon and Collie emerging from this and last year’s draft classes…
* KC now has the best coaching staff in the league
* Pioli will make at least one trade in the offseason, and 2 trades during the draft
* I'd prefer "lightning and lightning" as opposed to "lightning and thunder" when it comes to RBs
* 9-7 is a real possibility in 2010 IF the Chiefs get 4 new starters
I believe the answer to that question is:
Peyton Manning.
Peyton is extremely hard on his receivers. Watch his face during a game when he believes the receiver ran the wrong route, ot broke out of the route. Peyton is not shy about letting the receiver know,
One thing Manning does a LOT when under pressure is throw the ball to where the receiver is SUPPOSED to be as he comes out of a turn or a cut. Even if the receiver is not looking to at Manning, or even aware of the runsh, Manning tends to throw the ball to the spot the reciever SHOULD be at when he turns to look for the ball, or make a cut.
It’s imperative for a QB to know that he recievers are going to run the route they are supposed to run, and that includes pre-snap reads that change the route to a hot route or a go, or whatever. Manning just flat out expects his receivers to KNOW what route they are supposed to run and to be where they are supposed to be. That way, under pressure, he can just throw the ball to a ‘spot’ and trust that his receivers will do whatever it takes to be in the right place.
Disciplined route running is well under rated, especially in the draft. A lot of folks tend to fall in love with the flashiest guy that makes the most acrobatic catches, or runs the fastest. They overlook the massave advantage that a QB has when his receivers just run the right route and run it well. Peyton demands that from his receivers. Breaking off a route early or freelancing your own route are not rewarded in the Colts system, and certainly not by Manning.

Would
really like Gonzales on the team, he’d be the slot guy our team’s been looking for.
The only one i could see them moving
is anthony just because when he comes back its gonna take either garcon or collie out of the lineup and they looked pretty promising……..but that being said unless they can get the better side of the deal they prolly wont deal him just bcuz hes a good young reciever and they would prolly like to have gonzalez, garcon, and collie when wayne retires.
