Since the season ended...
My approval for Haley has increased about a thousand percent.
And I liked him to begin with.
Agree totally.
Part of being a good head coach is putting together a strong staff that allows you to be successful. I think we might have the best tandem of coordinators in the NFL. Good for Haley to realize he can’t do it all himself and ensure he as good help around him.
It's worked for Belichick, for sure.
I think it says a lot about Haley that these guys want to come work for him. And it’s not like these guys don’t know him. That’s impressive, to me.
excellent observation
that’s a very fine point you bring up. after watching and listening to haley this year i was convinced no one was going to run over the guy.
he seems very grounded in what he’s doing and really gave off a strong sense of confidence to me. i think that’s what these coaches like about him, they know who he is and where he stands.
and i think they feel the same about pioli.
Everyone's scared of him.
My sentiments are likely to be summed up with one of these 2 quotes:

"WHAT THE F---?!?!"- Todd Haley

yeah, I be shakin' in my boots ...
wait, these are kray’s damned boots … no wonder they don’t fit!
I didn’t vote as I really can’t see much to vote ON … coaching staff hires I put on Pioli, but if it’s Haley then yeah, fine, I approve yadda yadda yadda … but I do NOT want to see a repeat of last year’s antics from the guy

umm, I think they were out of it when we beat them ... they lost their chance the week before, and were really a "down" team from that ...
… which in my eyes is ONE reason we DID beat them
oh, let’s not forget that they beat us one time, too … or did that slip your mind?

This last year was basically a try out. We went for 4th downs did some bogus plays I think it was just a test to see which players are gamers and who isn’t. This season coming up will tell all hopefully we can get it together and haley can really set the tone for our football team.

I agree
Although the intention originally may not have been as a tryout season that is certainly what it became. In any event we finished strong (oh that game against Denver was a thing of beauty), and then Haley got the best coordinators he possibly could have. So now, no excuses. It’s all riding on how we do next year. But I am hopeful.

Yeah,
At some point Haley just threw his arms in the air and said “Awwww, Fuckit”. I think it was during/right after the PHI game. You’re right that there are no more free passes. No more dicking around on 4th downs and not kicking field goals in 2010. No more endless rotation of OL and WRs. This year may not have us in playoff contention, but Haley’s job definitely will be in contention if he doesn’t show that he can be a HC at the NFL level.

Not only does the record need to show definitive improvement
IE 8-8, 9-7 (I won’t settle for anything less). But we need to demonstrate consistent improvement as the season progresses. I would expect us to start off the season on the mediocre side and then ramping it up, solidifying our game as the season gets going. I don’t expect us starting off in the rampage mode (although that would be awesome). Better to get better (ugh and I don’t believe I’m saying this) ala the Bolts, than to fizzle ala the Donkeys.

It might have a little to do with how the schedule breaks down.
We really should have made some hay against Buffalo and Cleveland last year.
Pittsburgh and @ Denver were real suprises.

With everything that has happened in January
How can you not approve?
That said this will be the make or break year for Haley. With our coordinators he can focus just on being a head coach. If I don’t see a major improvement in the W-L column (at least 8-8) and us closing out games and/or coming back more consistently, then my confidence in Haley will be severly shaken.
All that said I do believe strongly next season will be much better than the last one.

Haley has been part of assembling a great staff and the last game against Den was great. I think we are heading in the right direction as a franchise and Haley is a big part of that.
alright where's UC
we need some opposition. with all the man love for haley in here i feel like i’m in the Navy.
Seriously mates, when have I ever been sarcastic?
Oh and in case you were wondering, that hug offer is still there when you are ready UC :p
I didn't love Haley throughout the season
But I did see improvement. He’s learning as is the team. The best coaches, CEO’s, Exec’s, hell the best, “I’m in charge of this here organization”ers are the ones that learn and improve over time. They evolve and can do it while on the job. Haley is doing so. Whether it’s enough is another question that next season will help determine. For now, the fact that he does seem like he’s learning and willing to change, hiring new (the best) asst coaches, toning down his sideline fuming, etc. well that works for me. For now.

Hey now.
First an actual request for a comment from UC, then a shot at the Navy? Uncalled for. Don’t knock on all of us because of a stigma I personally thing comes mostly from the bubbleheads (sub-riders).
That stigma...
dates back much farther than the US Navy, all the way to the British Navy, if not farther. There’s a quote to the effect of “Rum, buggery, and the lash”, referring to the latter’s sailors. That pre-dates your “bubble-heads”. (Yer all Squids to me, said the Wing-nut)

Haley's a loudmouthed, opinionated, brash and arrogant ... oh wait, you wanted UC ...
well, anytime you’d like me to fill in for him, y’all let me know …
I’m giving Haley the benefit of the doubt FOR NOW … but he starts with his roster churning, depth chart shuffling, stupid play-calling, , The Right 53 bogus platitudes, yelling and screaming antics like he did LAST year … the gloves come off, man

you can’t bash him then give him the benefit for the doubt. i need some one with balls to disagree with my opinion and tell me

“no you’re wrong”
“no you’re wrong because i said so”
“no you’re wrong because yo mama’s fat”
“oh yah well you’re wrong you’re wrong you’re wrong”

I'm still Nuetral at best....
… I think a lot of these offseason moves may actually be Pioli’s more than Haley’s. I mean, Pioli watched the same games we did last year didn’t he? The going for it on 4th downs, the shouting matches on the sidelines, some of the other questionable moves. I can imagine the conversation:
Pioli: “Todd, I think you’re a great guy and a good coach and all…”
Haley: “Yeah, I know, I made some mistakes, but I was a ROOKIE Head Coach!”
Pioli: “Doesn’t matter, we still have to get better.”
Haley: “You – you’re – you’re not thinking of cutting me are you….????” (nervously)
Pioli: "No no Todd, (calmly) that would send the wrong message to the team and the fanbase…. I have an idea, (leaning forward) how about we get you some help? I mean, some folks who really know football well.
Haley: “Ssss..su…such as??”
Pioli: “Well, let’s just say I have a few ‘connections’ from my N.E. days. Maybe you’d like (wink wink) to work with some of those folks….Whatdya say?” (thumbing through rolodex…)
Haley: “Uh…ummmm.. YEA! Sure MR. PIOLI, whatever you say….” (leaves hurriedly…)
Pioli: “Thanks Todd, I knew you’d see it my way…”
…what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent speech were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber for having heard it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I don't know about that.
I think it could have been more like this:
Pioli: “Lets get Weis and Crennel.”
Haley: “Hell yes!”
What coach wouldn’t want those coordinators around, especially with similar systems.

Approve.
Call me crazy, but I think Haley will develop into a really good football coach. Did he make some mistakes? Yeah, but what rookie coach hasn’t? There were things that he probably wasn’t expecting, and had to learn to adapt to them, which I think he did. He’s already proven that he can coach a really good offense in ARZ. We started to see signs of life from our’s after he figured out what pieces he had and what he could do with them. I think the team really started to buy into his philosophy about 3/4 of the way through the season.
We finished strong, and as the team got better and more in tune with what Haley wanted done, the drill sergeant mentality started to fade and we saw more and more of him patting guys on the back and high fiving them. I’m really excited to see what he does with this group in another year. He knows what he wants and will strive for perfection, and I think he will achieve it sooner rather than later.
My sentiments are likely to be summed up with one of these 2 quotes:

I don't think you're crazy.
I think there’s a lot there. I like how he expects the most out of his players. Sure he made mistakes, but he seems to learn from them.
I like how after 6 games this year a majority of fans were ready to ditch Haley, and McDaniels was the Bronco’s gift from God. At the end of the season I would say most Chiefs fans are happy to see Haley coming back next year, especially with the new coaching staff. Yet most Broncos fans are ready to run McDaniels out of town, especially with his new coaching staff.
I love the tables getting turned in our favor.

How bout some commentary from the “Not sure”
A full season has passed a ton of changes, and you are still “not sure”?
I voted "Not Sure"
I’m not sure because of some of the bone-headed things he did, mostly early in the season. Those set us back too far to hope for a good season this year, at a time when the organization couldn’t afford it.
If in 2010 he comes out strong, and makes a good showing out there, then color me approved, but not until he proves that he won’t repeat as a bonehead.

He improved our win total 100%
He’s doing everything he can to build this team for the future.. Usually a head coach will hit his stride in his third year.. I’m not expecting much this year but I am expecting at least seven wins given how easy our schedule should be.
I approve. For the time being
