Chiefs Are Mike Vrabel's "First Choice"

The Kansas City Chiefs have been facing a decision with Mike Vrabel, who is scheduled to be an unrestricted agent on March 5th. The Chiefs gave up a second round pick for him and Matt Cassel so you'd think they'd like to see him for more than one year. Plus they gave him over $4 million in salary last season.

He fits the mold of the type of player GM Scott Pioli is looking for.

According to Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald, Vrabel says the Chiefs are his "first choice" when it comes to picking a team next season.

However, he also wouldn't rule out a return to New England but isn't sure if Bill Belichick would want him back.

"I'd go back in a heart beat. Why wouldn't I? Put it this way, I'd go back, but I highly doubt they'd want me back."

Vrabel, 34, has previously expressed a desire to work something out with the Chiefs and, in his words, finish what he started.

I'd be happy with him coming back

As much as people want to rag on him, he performed decently. He is no longer a starter but he would be a good back up that would continue with developing the young minds of Chiefs players. That is invaluable.

He is good for developing players.

That’s the part that Herm missed. Yes, it’s important to develop young players, but you have to have veteran leadership to guide them. From what I’ve seen, when Vrable does want to retire from playing, bring him back as a coach.

Vrabel

I think he is a good thing for KC. He plays good ball. Gives 100% IMO. Bring him back! Also need to bring Chambers back.

i'd like to see vrabel back

I was kind of surprised by what he did here considering the situation he got thrown into.

Performance aside, anyone willing to flip off the broncos mid-game is welcome on the Chiefs IMO.

I wish we had a picture of that

I dont think Vrabel would freak about the number of snaps he gets.

Studebaker should earn his snaps, and if he deserves to get them, Vrabel will be cool with it. I think he’d be proud of young grasshopper.

He has his superbowl rings

Now I think it seems he likes the challenge of being on a team that is currently trying to build themselves into a competitor. Wish we had more guys like him.

Very true

And if he didn’t think we were going to get there…I doubt if he would want to stay.

Plus

if he can take off some snaps he might gain another year playing in the end.
