The Ram Effect

INDIANAPOLIS -- There is growing sentiment that Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford could catapult to the No. 1 overall spot and be drafted by the St. Louis Rams.

This would be a fantastic scenario for the Kansas City Chiefs.  (via: Bill Williamson,

Adam Schefter has been that growing sentiment.  Adam predicts that the Rams have passed on such QB's as Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Mark Schanz, and they are not going to pass on a franchise QB this year.  Shefter and other believe that Bradford's Pro Day is going to blow scouts away and get him that number one spot....

The Ram Effect will impact no team greater then our beloved Kansas City Chiefs....

If a quarterback -- either Bradford or Notre Dame’s Jimmy Clausen -- is taken at No. 1, it will push the draft’s best prospects further down the board than expected. Kansas City will benefit if a quarterback is taken in the first four picks. The only possibilities are at No. 1 and No. 4 with Washington.

You all know that I have an obession with Eric Berry and believe he is the selection we need to make.  The St. Louis Rams have the chance to make my dreams come true.  How Bill Williamson thought through the domino effect that the Rams will have if they select a QB is exactly how I viewed it.

1.) Rams - Bradford

2.) Lions - Suh

3.) Bucs - McCoy

4.)  Redskins - Claussen or Okung

Which leaves Kansas City sitting there.

Here are possibly picks for the Kansas City Chiefs:  Eric Berry, Rolando McClain, Anthony Davis, Russel Okung

So where do we go from there?

The top three prospects on many team’s boards are defensive tackles Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy and safety Eric Berry. If the Rams take a quarterback, Suh and McCoy will probably be taken at No. 2 and No. 3 by Detroit and Tampa Bay. Washington will likely take a quarterback or left tackle. So, in that scenario, Berry would fall to the Chiefs.

Kansas City needs a safety and Berry is considered an impact player. He’d be a perfect fit there. Many league observers predict Berry is headed to Tampa Bay with the No. 3 pick. But if the Rams take a quarterback all bets are off.

With the 5th Pick in the 2010 Draft... Kansas City Select:  Eric Berry

So do you see the impact the Rams have on the Chiefs?  I fully agree with Bill Williamson's final sentence when he mentions that if the Rams DO NOT select a QB, the Bucs draft Eric Berry.  I agree with that also.  So over the next couple weeks, I will be pulling for Sam Bradford and hoping that he makes the St. Louis Rams fall in love with him so the Kansas City Chiefs can get their defensive captain for years... Eric Berry.
