Ben Watson anyone?
Watson would be smart to pass on re-signing with the Patriots before free agency starts since the group of projected free agents tight end isn't very talented. He could command a nice deal, though he turns 30 in December.
The Chiefs, after trading away veteran TE Tony Gonzalez last year, generally have a bunch of backup types left at that position. Watson, who general manager Scott Pioli was instrumental in drafting when he was with the Patriots, could draw serious interest from Kansas City.

I would like
to see Watson in red and gold, but I also think that Cottam could have a breakout type year if given the opportunity.
I don't know about that...
Cottam had a pretty severe neck injury late in the season. I doubt that Cottam will have a breakout year.
2011 is more likely.
Go Chiefs!!!!
yeah,
assuming he’s healthy I think he could have a good year. But I would like to bring in another TE, preferably in free agency that way we don’t have to spend another draft pick on one, and we all know Pioli loooves to draft TE’s.
There are a couple decent TE's in the draft...
and they are expected to go in the later rounds. I would like to see us pull in another TE like Ben Watson.
I love Cottam’s drive to play… he so very badly wanted to stay in the game with a broken neck. Later in the season he was pretty solid. Having Leonard Pope and Ben Watson as the TE’s this year would be nice. I would be happy with Bo Scaife too. I do hope that Cottam does recover quickly, I’m just doubtful.
Go Chiefs!!!!
Now there is an interesting prospect
Seems to produce around 500 yards and a couple of touchdowns every season. What round do you expect him to be selected in?
What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left.
Glad you like
I’ve had this guy on my draft radar for a few months. Most mocks/analyists HAD him in the late 4th/early 5th but he’s moving up and moving up quick. I’ve seen him as early as late 2nd round now. Rated as one of the top 3 or 4 TE’s he would be a steal in the 4th but I really don’t think he’ll be around that late the closer it gets to draft day. He’s tough, consistent, and extremely athletic.
I’d take him with our 4th or 5th pick easily (3rd/4th round)
As long as the FA wore the silver and blue of NE...he's gonna get a invite by Pioli and Co.
Opinions are like A--holes, everyones got one.
Wtex...
hey man thanks for keeping us all up on the fanshots I really appreciate it. But not to sound like a dick b/c Im not trying to be but do we really have to say “Thoughts?” at the end of everyone…Its just a pet peeve of mine.. Its a blog you will get peoples opinions either way…
ATM Machine bothers me...

There is a sign in Downtown KC

Ryan Succop will be the kicker for the AFC in the 2011 Pro Bowl
On another website that a frequently visit...
their is an inside joke where people use… “ur thoughts?”
So I get a little bit of a smile anytime I see a blog in with “thoughts?”
Go Chiefs!!!!
hahaha I used another pet peeve
their instead of there.
Go Chiefs!!!!
At this point I'm for it
as long as we turn loose of a couple of these other guys we have at TE. I don’t see Watson as being overly expensive and he’s more than proven capable of being productive.
Braccae illae virides cum subucula rosea et tunica Caledonia-quam elenganter concinnatur!
I think we should reconsider retreading
anybody the Patriots had remarkable luck with. Guys like Ben Watson -and somebody can fact check me if they want- seem to be a dime-a-dozen. There’s a ton of big TEs that can block and catch. Only some of them play next to great lines and for very, very good QBs.
It’s not ridiculous to think we already have that guy on our roster.

I also like the general idea that
“since they traded Tony Gonzalez all they have is a bunch of back-up types…”
My friends know this, but I call people out on this every time. When comparing players and whether or not they should be starters, can we not START with comparing them to a hall of famer?
“Well, Cassel is no Montana (or Brady, or Manning, or Aikman, et. al).”
“Really?! He’s not one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the planet?!”
Thank you and good night.

It's a nice request ...
… but when that Hall of Famer was your go-to guy for a decade and is still playing in the league, he’s kind of the default standard by which all others will be judged.
