Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers Working Out With Eric Berry Today
The Kansas City Chiefs scouting staff will get an up close look at Eric Berry later this week at the NFL Combine but CB Brandon Flowers will check him out today.
According to Flowers' Twitter page, he's working out with Berry and others in (what I think is) Delray Beach.
Berry of course is projected as a top ten pick and thought by some to be the answer at safety for the Chiefs.
Also working out with Flowers is Major Wright. The safety from Florida is 6'0", 204 pounds and projected as a 3rd-5th round pick.
Also there is WR Preston Parker, a 5'11", 195 pound receiver out of Northern Alabama (and previously Florida State).

interesting
Think Chiefs purposely sent Flowers over there to see how Berry is? Berry, Dansby, and Wilfork are all we need on D I think, in order to have a Solid D.
We need to draft Eric Berry, no if's / and's or buts about it!!!!
Probably a nudge nudge wink wink type scenario.
Last thing we would need would be for someone to complain that we scheduled an illegal workout. If Flowers is just there to work out and not representing the Chiefs then hopefully no flags will be raised. Granted it will be interesting to see what if any useful information Flowers could glean from the work out considering he isn’t a scout. I guess as long as they only gave him a short list of things to look for he may be able to give some good feedback.
good point
i completely forgot about that. theyre already tampering chargest against the chiefs or chiefs filed tampering charges against some team isnt there? damn i cant type this morning.

Tampering?
It’s completely fine for Flowers to work out with these guys. It happens all the time. Only so many high level gyms in the country.
Tampering only involves a player under contract. Berry is not under contract.

Exactly.
Now lets hope that they also ask Flowers about Cam Chancellor.

i know
but i’m saying that the chiefs wouldnt need this ding of unscheduled work out or what ever cuz i believe there are already tampering charges against another team or against the chiefs. i believe a month or so back. so if there are tampering charges already filed against the chiefs. they wouldnt need the whole “illegal workout” deal against them as well.

It's not an illegal workout
there’s football players working out with other football players.
So full of sh*t that toilet bowls have to wipe.
i think you are refering to Gunther Cunningham commenting on his old players still in a chiefs uni
and the nfl already dismissed it as no big deal. tampering charges are very hard to prove so they almost never happen i could be wrong but i think there has been only 1 case that actually resulted in a penalty in forever and that was the 49ers tampering with Lance Briggs. The Crabtree deal last season was teams were telling him if he was redrafted they would give him more money than san fran is offering although he wasnt under contract he was still the property of the 49ers. Perspective draftees do this every season go watch a university of miami workout hell half the nfl retired and active is down there working out with draft prospects. Player vs Player contact is never tampering its when coaches and front office guys get involved that you hear tampering charges thrown around

I seem to recall last year...
there were allegations about tampering in conjunction with Crabtree. Supposedly one of the reasons he was holding out for more money was that a team had approached him and told him they would be willing to pay more. Granted the allegations were eventually dropped, but that shows you don’t need to be under contract for tampering to exist.

Weren't involved
I don’t believe Chiefs were involved in that one. that was between Niners and Jets.
We need to draft Eric Berry, no if's / and's or buts about it!!!!
That was after he was drafted
At that point talking to a player who’s rights are held by another team becomes tampering.

tampering charges
just looked it up, it was about the whole Cunningham deal. about him liking to get a chief or two BS. nothing real major now that i look at it.

Bottom line can Flowers get us some good intell?
If he can get us some information that might not be available at the combine then it is worth working out with him. Maybe catching him with his guard down and seeing what he is really like. If not then why even bother.
agent 0024 is on the case
I hope the don did send flowers as an “advanced scout”. Flowers will definately put a bug in his ear about the chiefs. Hopefully the workouts go well & Berry shine(enough for pick 5). I’d love a Flowers, Carr, Berry, Sharper secondary

Yes I can see Eric Berry now.....refusing to play for any other team than Kansas City Chiefs. LOL
Does anyone think he will pull an Elway/Eli?
by NorthLeft12 on Feb 23, 2010 10:55 AM CST up reply actions
I heard he will only play for
Tampa since Monte Kiffin used to be the DC there and that Claussen is already telling people that if the Chiefs don’t drfat him, he’ll play baseball..
Course, it was the voices in my head that told me these things.

That would be amazing.
Hopefully Flowers and Berry become BFFs :-) We would for sure have the best young secondary in the NFl.
Man crush on Eric Berry.
how much working out is Flowers doing?
didnt he just have surgery and had his arm in a sling?
Regardless of who the Chiefs pick at #5 overall, Whitlock will call it the worst pick in the history of the Chiefs. Heres to hoping that #5 pick runs Whitlock out of town.....
if he wasnt able
im sure the chiefs would have his ass locked in a closet . usually these are just speed and conditioning no heavy weight lifting(teams prefer they do this under there supervision) no contact. and im sure scott and romeo will pick
flowers brain some but how much more info can get from speed and conditioning drills that you cant get from the combine or game tape.
The draft is still a ways away so im not set on anyone yet but it is awesome to see Flowers busting his ass already !

I found it odd but..
Did anyone else see on NFL network that Mayock changed his Safety rating and listed Earl Thomas as 1 an Berry as 2?
by King of the Cassel on Feb 23, 2010 11:40 AM CST via mobile reply actions
he was going going to do that last week anyways
he said it on an NFLN special he was going to review the tape again and give out his updated ratings.

Great
Great great intel. I am probably reading way too much into it though…
Sackoff (McIntosh,Goff) like Brangelina.
I guess the Chiefs have alot of faith in Flower’s skills and opinions, but players workout together all of the time, and I guess it really might not be a spy mission. I’m sure they would take any information they could get though. I’m not sure of the rules with NFL players working out with perspective draft choices. I don’t see where they can control it, nor is it a helluva lot different than a combine or a school day workout, as either way , I guess you are being evaluated, and I’m sure alot of rookies have present , or past, NFL players working them out and helping them prepare for the combines and draft. If the story is true, I am glad they may be seriously considering Berry, as he may one of the top 2 or 3 overall best players available, and does fill a definite need. But then, they may be blowing smoke up everybodies butt! Pioli is famous for that!
