The snag Brandon Albert hit in 2009 is a concern, but to label him as someone who now needs to switch positions smacks of ignorance. That’s because by the end of 2009, Albert was showing improvement and playing at a much higher level, especially in December.

Albert’s play improved after he learned how to block with new technique and adjusted to his new, lighter body. It took 17 weeks for him to make that adjustment, so we have to ask the question – why would the Chiefs even consider asking him to switch positions now after he made so much progress?

There you have it AP, a case for Brandon Albert to remain the Chiefs' LT...thoughts?

This is an article

up over at WPI and the guy really rips on BW for saying it was “likely” that Albert would switch positions in his blog last week, enjoy.

Agreed

100%

Its stupid to waste a Top 5 pick on a LT ESPECIALLY when this supposed Top 5 LT Okung played RT for 3 years and only had 1 season (I admit..a good season) at LT. I just cant see how a guy can switch from RT to LT 1 year, then turn around and make the NCAA LT to NFL LT jump the year after.

Not only that, but the INTERIOR OL is what needs help. O’Call deserves more credit than hes received at RT and Albert struggled at first and really came around in the 2nd half of the season. YOU DONT CONTINUE TO FILL THE SAME HOLES ON A REBUILDING TEAM! You keep filling OTHER holes…THEN you are giving those guys more than 2 seasons to show if they are going to work out or not.

I’m against Okung for the same reason I would be against Suh. Dorsey was JUST as highly touted as Suh has been. Dorsey was “the next Warren Sapp” remember? Okung is the best LT it a weak T class..I doubt he would have been a top 10 pick in the last 2 or 3 drafts.

A-Men.

both lines need interior help, that’s where the focus should be and both can be addressed starting round 2 OR using that 5 and trading down. if KC could grab Iupati later in the first and a stud center in the second, i’m all for it. but don’t draft a tackle at 5.

You mean like Goff, Alleman, Ndukwe, Colin Brown, Ghiaciuc, ...

all those “big moves” that were made to fix that RG/RT spot? If NONE of those guys can play RG, then KC’s situation is already hopeless. I don’t think you draft G directly this (or ‘most any) year before the 3rd, and there’s prob’ly more value at another position group, even in the 3rd.

Almost certainly a RT @ 2a could supplant O’Callaghan at RT and AT WORST be a great upgrade @ RG, with future OT potential.

Finally someone who knows what their talking about.

Its about time. I dont know how Kiper, McShay, Mayock, etc, call themselves gurus. Theyve done no reearch on the Chiefs, in order to say they will go LT 5th overall. Albert giving up 4.5 sacks in 08’, and dominating the last portion of the season should tell them something…

Albert

Amen! Draft Pouncey in 2nd round, & WR! Build a Defense!

by Special K on Feb 23, 2010 12:26 AM CST reply actions

Hit the nail on the head

All the offense really needs is 3 holes filled. Center, Guard, Receiver. Maybe Mawae for 1-2 years, or Pouncey in the 2nd. Guard? Maybe Stephen Neal? Receiver? Golden Tate, or Gilyard, or Shipley. The defense is in much worse shape. A NT, 2 ILB’S, OLB, SS, FS are needed. The defense is riddled with holes. We have to use this draft to fill at least 3 of them.
