Doesn't Sound Like Chiefs Are An Option For Tomlinson
Because it's the story of the day, we'll continue our conversation about former Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson. Some have wondered if he would be a fit in Kansas City and I think his comments to Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated pretty much answered it for us.
LT told Trotter he's looking for two major things in his next team:
- Chance at a title
- Proven quarterback
They're tied into each other as most proven quarterbacks have a legitimate shot at a title every year. The Chiefs, however, do not have either of these.
Yeah, we're fans, so we think the Chiefs always have a shot but the perception as of now is that they do not have a shot at a title in the near future and Matt Cassel is not a proven quarterback.
So any thoughts of LT to the Chiefs are pretty much gone (if they were ever there in the first place).

i would rather have Sproles, Floyd or Jackson
LT will go elsewhere.
Regardless of who the Chiefs pick at #5 overall, Whitlock will call it the worst pick in the history of the Chiefs. Heres to hoping that #5 pick runs Whitlock out of town.....
LT to Houston, maybe Indy, NE(if they release Fred Taylor), Philly, Pitt, or somewhere else where they have a proven QB, they’re close to winning, and he won’t be asked to do much. He shouldn’t even be on our radar, nor should we be on his.
Lt won't play for BB
Remember last time those two teams got together in the playoffs?

I thought we learned our lesson
about runningbacks on the downsides of thier careers. We shouldn’t be having this conversation even if he expressed interest in the Chiefs. He has hit his wall, and unlike a fine wine, won’t be improving with age.
yep, as did Priest Holmes
* KC now has the best coaching staff in the league
* Pioli will make at least one trade in the offseason, and 2 trades during the draft
* I'd prefer "lightning and lightning" as opposed to "lightning and thunder" when it comes to RBs
* 9-7 is a real possibility in 2010 IF the Chiefs get 4 new starters
I hope this is sarcasm because the Saints don't need 2 Reggie Bushs.
My bold prediction and I think our best chance at moving down in the 1st. Bret Favre retires, Tavarris Jackson is not retained or leaves and the Vikings trade up, with our beloved Chiefs, for Jimmy Claussen.
WRITE IT DOWN!
would not shock me
A. Reggie Bush is overrated as a top back, can’t trust him to carry it with a 3 point lead.
B. LT loves Brees, Brees loves LT…he was CRUSHED when brees left, he still is crushed…as someone who has been around a lot of charger players in the past….7-8 years(gym)…I can safely say the downfall of the chargers was Rivers…no respect from any of the players I met…
I think Dallas is where he goes, but the Saints would be my second pick for where he ends up, with Miami as my 3rd
Vince Wilfork will be Scott Pioli's top offseason priority and will be a Chief.
KC Will Trade Derrick Johnson=
i think its funny he set his demands
a chance at a title and a proven quarterback. That is what any FA wants but is he going to get it? If i were him and seeing as this is going to be his last stop wherever he ends up he should probably just keep quite and see what team wants to give him the most money.

they always say that
but, if the Chiefs offer him a contract, they have as good of a chance as anyone

lol
all the championship quality teams with established qb’s – eagles, saints, chargers, colts, cowboys, minny(maybe? wont know till brett makes up his damn mind again) are all that way because they know a +30 year old back with declining skills isnt going to do crap for them – good luck with that you freaking primadona
And the chiefs better not even think of it id hope we learned our lessen with primadona backs on the decline last season.
He may just sit back and wait for a contender to emerge.
Then try to come in mid-season….. LT has too much vanity for that though.

he will be on a roster for camp
some team is going to take a flyer on him and give him a chance, hell LJ got a chance after we dumped him. I just dont think it will be or should be us to give him that chance, this isnt Marcus Allen we are talking about.

For those of you who read KissingSuzyKolber, there is a funny Marmalard and LT exchange....

Just for the record....
I think LT still has some good football left in him…and I predict he’ll do well as a “role player” wherever he lands for another 2-3 years.
I’d take him on my team….but we have much bigger needs right now. If we were a really good team looking for the few final pieces, then he might be a great fit for us. But we’re not, so it’s no big deal. NT, Safety, O-line, WR…those are the things that would be a “big deal” in my book.
In my opinion...
his family will stay put, so this may get interesting…there is a LOT of bad blood, he used to bleed charger blue, the brees decision changed things…It would not shock me to see him in a bronco uniform.

although if I had to give a REAL guess...He goes to Dallas.

Dallas?
home of 3 good RBs?
seems a little crowded, unless they get rid of Barber or Choice

I know, I know
I see them moving one

its a stretch, the guess of NO makes sense...something just speaks to me about LT and Dallas, we will see
Vince Wilfork will be Scott Pioli's top offseason priority and will be a Chief.
KC Will Trade Derrick Johnson=
Im down with LT...
I think maybe playing with a chip on his shoulder would “recharge his batteries” and unless Charles has been promised the starting job, which I couldn’t see having happened, then I starting the year at number 2 on the Depth Chart shouldn’t be a problem for #25. That allows KC to throw an incentive deal for LT that maybe nobody else in the league could offer. Especially if the Chiefs could get an understanding between JC and LT, something along the lines of Charles takes us down the field and if we get to the Red Zone then LT becomes the feature back…I think that is ideal.
yeah, in the past...even as someone who likes LT as a person
I would say no…
but considering our need for a 2nd back that wont need to snake more than 10 carries….I would be ok with it…he is really angry, and hurt…he will play hard, and honestly, I have never in my life seen a guy give it his all EVERY DAY early at the gym every offseason…hes a machine…a community guy, an effort guy…Id be fine with it
Vince Wilfork will be Scott Pioli's top offseason priority and will be a Chief.
KC Will Trade Derrick Johnson=
..
LT would get the TD’s unless JC breaks one for more than 20, and throw bonus money for LT scoring TD’s. It will keep Charles fresh longer in the game, save Charles a pounding, and LT would love some more TD’s to “top off” his HOF career.
Just a thought
for people that say LT is washed up and finished, I disagree I think he still has something left. Now granted he isnt gunna be the featured back that is gunna carry the ball 300+ times a year but I think he can still contribute to a team. If you look at the last 2 seasons his numbers are down and people say that he has lost a step the last couple of seasons. Well maybe that is somewhat true, after all he is a 30 year old rb, but he also lost something else the last 2 seasons. His lead blocker Lorenzo Neal, was let go a couple of seasons ago and thats when LTs numbers went down, coincidence?
Have you guys ever been to a KC/SD game in San Diego?
They got nuts for LT. I understand him being on the decline, but they shout MVP and LT whenever they’re near the goal line, during the intros, halftime…They loved him there. Now that he’s cut I wouldn’t be suprised if he wanted his revenge. I know SD fans aren’t happy about it, but I mean it is a business…
Chance at a title
Proven quarterback .
We’ll see how that plays out when outrageous money comes calling from a team like the Redskins.

eagles
Dallas or pitt is where he lands teams that all have runnin backs that get banged up those teams all have quality qbs and need one piece to help take them over the top. Ladanian to me is a good player do I like him no but I still think the guy can play another 3 solid years witha quality team that gives him some carrys not the entire load.

Who cares!
LT is a whiny little bitch. Who wants a guy like him here crying behind his visor everytime we lose a tough game? Too much distraction for a team like the Chiefs. We just need to keep our head down, keep working, eliminate any distractions (LJ) and improve. If the Chiefs do that this year, we will have a great season.
With 2 coordinators who happen to be the best player development guys around, we will get solid play from our young guys and some of our guys like Bowe should step up and live up to their expectations. We don’t need another diva on our team.
