Jason LaCanfora Ranks The Chiefs At 21st, Others Disagree
The experts of NFL.com have released their way-too-early rankings for the 2010 NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs average in at 27, according to the panel of seven various NFL.com and NFL Network personalities.
The lowest ranking was 31st from long-time NFL man Gil Brandt. A tad rough on the team from KC? A little bit.
The highest ranking? Mr. Jason LaCanfora (who immediately jumps into pool of favorably viewed analysts in this space).
He put the Chiefs at 21.
Ahead of the Denver Broncos (23) and just behind the 2009 Super Bowl loser Arizona Cardinals (20).
Ideally, the Chiefs blow past that No. 21 ranking and into the top half of the league with a solid showing in 2010. But considering the results they've shown on the field in 2009-10, 21 may be a little optimistic.
Former Chiefs fanboy Joe Theismann ranked the Chiefs 28th. The fans pretty much agree with the experts averaging the Chiefs 28th out of the 32 NFL teams.

Vic Cariucci:29
Pat Kirwan: 27

seems a bit early to even play that game.
i’m thinking that with Weiss and Crennel on ‘09 we’d have been better than most of those rankings…I’d even venture that we’d have added 1-2 wins per coach in 09’ too.

8 maybe?

8 wins is what I told...
an old friend at the bar over the weekend…8-8, with JC getting 2k total yards from scrimmage.
I will be right.

i'll go out on a limb and say
9-7 or 10-6.
i really think we’d have been 8-8 this year with Weiss and Crennel.
Taking into account the learning curve, which the chiefs already went through partially (partially implementing their systems), I think we’ll get an extra 1-2 wins just through not having to go through a whole year of growing pains….basically, the ground work is at least half completed which imo = not as much work, and not as much struggling in the form of losses to learn the system.
add in FA additions and drafts, plus we don’t play as dreadful as a schedule.

Let me take my red and gold colored glasses off and set my homer hat aside
In all honesty i believe we will be competing for a division title . i see us having a strong free agency adding 3 or 4 solid vets and having a solid draft plus i dont see alot of competition in the AFC west.

hi, Mo!
5 minutes!!!
When they Chiefs get one or two key players who are
catalysts, they will improve dramatically. I was hoping that 2009 would be the season that happened, but obviously not. We have some good talent on the team although it is popular to poo poo all that and say we have too many holes to fill. As the level of play of individuals improves (i.e. Tamba, Jackson, Dorsey et al) all we will need is a couple of playmakers in key positions. Whether they come from the draft or free agency remains to be seen. But they will come, sooner or later. Both Pioli and Haley are committed to improving this team and making it a contender. It is just a matter of time before we really do have the “right 53”. Then, the sky is the limit.
This is basically
ranked off of the 2009 season. They gotta continue to pump out content to keep people interested…
I’m sure Joel and Chris know ALL about that ;)
