Former Chiefs Kickers In The News
A few former Kansas City Chiefs kickers are in the news today.
First, we passed along the word that the Washington Redskins had signed Justin Medlock, the Chiefs 2007 fifth round pick who lasted all of one regular season game before being released.
Now, reports coming out of Cincinnati indicate that the Bengals worked out Nick Novak and Dave Rayner. The agent for Rayner has announced that his client has signed a contract with the Bengals.
The Bengals aren't expected to bring Shayne Graham back after the wildcard playoff game when he missed two field goals, including a 28 yarder that would have brought the game within one score.
Rayner replaced Medlock early in the 2007 season, until he was released in November of that year.
The Chiefs signed Novak in February of the following season and he lasted all the way to October before the Chiefs released him in favor of Connor Barth.
These kickers were part of the group of seven kickers that have were on the Chiefs roster over those two seasons.

Thank God for Ryan Succop
After having a run of some of the best kickers ever in Jan Stenerud, Nick Lowery, and Pete Stoyanovich, these have been some hard times. Novak, Rayner, Medlock, holy moly I am so glad we have our Kicker that can stick around for a while.
